Gungrave is a pretty good anime. It is about a betrayed undead Mafia assassin killing off his former allies infused with a mutating drug. The Christian Bale film is called Equilibrium. It is about a futuristic society where your emotions are suppressed.

One of my top 10 of all times, Gungrave anime. The people behind the PS2 games decided to make the anime to tie the story of the games, as allegedly there was some feedback about how the story wasn't up to snuff. So, Sunset and/or Madhouse studios (I believe) went with the idea, and voila, a damn good tale was made - a lot more than just a drugged mob assassin, how you elegantly put it. Oh, and the OST is excellent. Need to revisit that one, it has been a long time...😢

There's a Gungrave anime, but what i didn't know at the time was that the game wasn't based on anime, but they created anime based off of the PS2 game. And it's really good. Kinda short, less than 30 episodes, but it has such a cool, tragic and emotional gangster story about betrayal. I should probably give it a watch again, can't believe it's been 20 years already lol

"Equilibrium" was brilliant

Katana Kami is amazingly underrated, I’m hoping with this video it reaches more people. So many good systems that require you to think (even when progressing the game there are more systems that unlock), rather than just mindlessly hacking and slashing. You have to actually think how you approach enemies, and even what katanas to bring and ‘evolve’. What I find super satisfying is if you can pull off a parry chain to build your combo for increased damage. One tip I have to give is make sure you don’t deplete your stamina or else it will spawn an insta-kill enemy. This sucks when you bring your best gear, get far, but forget about your stamina and die, losing all your stuff. You can get back your stuff if you reach where your “soul” died (except money), but yea, just don’t forget about your stamina.

The unexpectedly toughest thing about my divorce is not playing four player Switch games with my brother and sisters in law anymore. The four of us had so much fun and Neosprint would've been an utter hoot.

Not much here appeals to me but I am too preoccupied with the upcoming Ace Combat, Let's School, Hot Lap Racing and F1 Manager coming this month so gems may be disregarded for a little while. However, having content like this from SwitchUp is helpful to ensure that we don't miss the interesting games so thank you Gents for your hard work!

@SwitchUpYt Ive been eyeing it! I hadn't played video games since the N64 and PS1 until Breath of the Wild brought me back, but I have great memories of Turtles in Time (and less fond memories of that NES nightmare with the underwater bombs), so its on my radar!

I remember Gungrave from back in the Ps2 days, Great game back then. I got the Ps4 version on the Ps5 recently and for me the feeling had died down for that kind of game.

I haven't been playing my Switch lately but I still love watching this series. It's probably my favorite of yours and I just enjoy hearing two good friends talk about games and some related and unrelated tangents.

I just played through Venba; a short, beautiful game about Tamil migrants in Canada, inter-generational conflict, and trying to stay connected to your heritage through food. So good, and currently on sale!

I've recently got sucked into outer wilds, great video today

Katana Kami is definitely a bit of a hidden gem on Switch. I enjoyed it at launch and have recently been thinking of going back, so it was cool to see it mentioned here. Battle Cats Unite is good fun. I haven't found single player particularly difficult, but that may be because I played it on mobile years ago and am somewhat familiar with the various systems. It looked like you were playing largely with non-upgraded units, so a quick tip would be to use your XP to upgrade your best units. They will evolve at least once (at level ten), sometimes more. I'm actually using it as one of my "load up and chill out" games. Good stuff.

Ylands would be a great addition to this list, surprisingly deeper crafting/survival mechanics than expected but light-hearted enough for the whole family to enjoy. Could use a patch or two for performance issues.

For Dead In Vinland, get the Valhund DLC (if offered separately for the Switch, it may just be the bundle). The dog can find items that increase your characters' skills. It can help you get the best ending.

Oh man the micro machines reference got me. I used to play micro machines on the gameboy color as a kid and it was fabulous, so difficult but so much fun.

One of the best rougelites on Switch Dungreed has finally gotten it's final update. Hundreds of hours worth of content. Another game I recently picked up Revita is on par with the PC updates but sadly the studio announced they won't be able to do the final update they had planned. Another rougelite Revita also has hundreds of hours of content if you want to get everything. Just some interesting games if you want to check out something else.

After a long day, it’s nice to sit down and watch a comfort channel.

I've been playing a lot of shadows over loathing and Strife. I'm enjoying both games but man Strife definitely feels like a old PC game

Battle cats is actually really old. I have had it on my phone for over 10+ yrs. The 1st switch version came out a few yrs back. This seems to be identical to the Japanese release that I got a few yrs back

I'm playing Unmetal right now. It has me laughing out loud. And the game is fun, too. Very reminiscent of old metal gear.

My daughter and I are playing battle cats and having a blast! For single player experience I dont think it worth $20 over the f2p mobile versions. But co-op is definitely the highlight of the series.

I got Gungrave GORE on series X physically and it’s so much fun! Shades of Evil West in the game to me. Awesome fun either way!

Neo Sprint is giving me RC ProAm vibes. Might check that one out thanks gentlemen!

I had a lot of fun with katana Kami until I dies with every good sword and armor I had and lost everything. It Was so frustrating, that I stopped playing the game

I haven't watched Gungrave in forever, but the story you said reminds me of a game that i would love to get on Switch: the fps The Darkness (based on the Image comic, not the band, although that might also be an awesome rhythm game), about a Mafia kid named Jackie and his revenge tale turned supernatural thriller. I don't remember the game super well, just that I like it and how the Darkness wasn't just the powers he developed, but also a character that talked to Jackie.

Speaking of darkness while not entirely the same….I’d love to see shadows of the damned to come to switch. I know that both darkness games & Shadows of the damned share that whole chemistry where you have talking “weapons” that banter with the main character who seek vengeance onto their enemies.

Gungrave "has a PS2 vibe" ... lol well the other two Gungrave games are for PS2, so makes sense.

I couldn’t finish it in time when SMT Vengeance released. But personally I enjoy the game. I think from what I heard it’s not long, but there’s a lot of replay value if you are willing to pick up all of the DLC characters. The base game alone does still offer replay value. Personally I enjoy these mindless arcade like action experiences, simply turn off ur brain and go ham.

My edgy 90's teenage high school self is screaming that they don't know about the Gungrave anime.

Really keen on TMNT: Splinter fates that drops next week given the devs stating they were inspired by Hades. This could prove interesting and I hope to see what SwitchUp and Glen in particular have to say on it. 🎉

It’s been out for awhile on switch. Kinda wish the PS2 Gungrave games would get remastered and put on switch.

Very late to the party, but I'm now playing Prince of Persia and booooi its good hard cursing platforming!! But I so hate the dimensional shift on R3, what the hell where they thinking??? And all those accessibility options and personalized difficulty, but no control remap? Whyyyyyyyyyy? (I still have to learn how the remapping works on switch in general, I have a good excuse now!) But its excellent, I'm loving the combat and the platforming a lot, bosses could be on the harder side probably but it's fine, and I'm enjoying the story too.

You know what? no one really says it but hey guys thank you for your hard work and research on all these videos!!!

Played Katanakami when it came out, it was enjoyable. A flawed gem.

Sometimes i wonder how are you interested in such a wide genre of games. I struggle to say good things about games that are beyond my preferred genre no matter how good they are. 😅

Be warned, no Gungrave game was ever very good. If you see 10 seconds of gameplay and think it looks cool you'll enjoy it for a bit but dont spend much on it. Oddly enough the anime series on it was much better than it has any right to be.
