No media company publishes any news about this as far as I know. So for a muslim to know about this they have to have good enough english skills and know where to look. Upon seeing this on my feed I explained it to my girlfriend. She had no idea. I also said that we only care about genocide when it is happening in Europe. She was a little shocked by that one until I told her about the Armenian genocide and pointed out that she never learned about it in our history books.

I'm not saying Israel is in the right. From my perspective, Benjamin Netanyahu is an Israeli ultranationalist that needs to go. But the larger situation is very nuanced. You get Muslim minorities discriminated against in countries like China and Russia all the time, but because they aren't "Western nations," the attitude is pretty much "meh" seemingly even from the mainstream Muslim community.

@@krisstarring Muslim is one of the 5 officially recognized religions in China. According to census conducted in 2021, there was 25 million Muslims in China. Half of them is living in Xinjiang.

I remember a few years ago one of my best friends sent me a video on Twitter of a very popular male Chinese model who took a video of himself while he was in a labor camp. Somehow the video got uploaded online, and that is something that's still rings in my head years later. For those of you who may not know much about this subject, there are probably still dozens of American clothing retailers who use Uyghur labor to make their clothes. There was a list that came out a few years ago, I don't remember all the retailers on it, that explores which retailers in the United States utilized slave labor, from the Uyghur people, to increase their profits.

I had a uyghur friend freshman year and after graduating he had to go back despite not wanting to because he felt unsafe and was afraid of being detained. After he went back it took him 3 years to leave after that but his family is still there.

I suppose you could classify China Uncensored as anti-CCP propaganda, but the same label would equally apply to this channel. I would argue that the CCP largely does it to themselves; at least some of the negative bias just emerges from telling what's happening (although China Uncensored definitely does have a habit of picking the negative interpretation when two options are available). @@NicholasMati Just because you COULD make unsubstantiated claims, doesn't make it true. Using sources from within China itself, as well as the words and actions of the CCP itself, is not propaganda. (now, their America-focused channel, which heavily goes by right-wing talking points, is another story) But just going by actual truth isn't propaganda, it isn't their fault if the truth isn't what the CCP wants people to hear.

The silence on this issue is part of why some significant political discourse over the last year has rung hollow to me.

There is 0 evidence of Uyghur genocide except for some ET Uyghurs stories. ET is a terrorist group and ET Uyghurs are Islamic radicals. China at worst out some radicals into schools to teach them Chinese language, law, and professional skills, based on the idea that if one has a job and stable life, he is less subject to religious extremism. Xinjiang is a popular tourist destination for both domestic and international travelers. Uyghurs are witnessed to have normal lives there, happily dancing in every park and plaza. Gaza is what a genocide looks like. Large amount of videos of body counts, especially women and children, refugee camps, dangerous situations in which hundreds of journalists and aid workers got killed. The fact that the west claim there is a Uyghur genocide with 0 evidence but there is not a Palestinian genocide demonstrates that it is all about political agenda and the west never really cares about justice, human rights and human lives. Forget how they lied about Iraq WMD? They lied about Iraq, they lied about Libya, they invaded those countries and killed civilians themselves, and they continue sending weapons to Israel to be used to kill civilians. You think they care about Uyghur Muslims? They care more about their weapon sales.

When it’s America and Israel in Gaza mistreating Muslims it’s genocide (according to their critics). When it’s Russia in Afghanistan (1979-1989), Chechnya (1994-96, 1999-2009) or China in Xinjiang it isn’t genocide (because US and Israeli critics too often have their ideological biases). Russia is also committing cultural genocide in Ukraine. I’ve never seen or heard of widespread protests against Russia (after the first months of invading Ukraine) and China, or University encampment in solidarity with Uyghurs, Ukrainians and Chechens. Certainly not in the spoiled, out of touch West (where I live). As others have pointed out you don’t see protests and outrage by Arab countries, or their masses, in solidarity with the Uyghurs either. A lot of this is probably due to the Arab dictatorships’ propaganda and state media, but much of it is their ideological biases against the US and Israel (which don’t apply to Russia and China). I get people have their slants, but to ignore it completely, or to justify it due to garbage C CP propaganda, or because they hate America and Israel more is just morally repugnant. I say that as someone who has their own criticisms against the US and Israel.

People from Unite State knows they are free enough to speak their mind freely, and that itself should be celebrated, not a subject of complaint. The East Turkistan Uyghurs overseas are Islamic radicals who want to impose strict Sharia on Uyghur people and put an end to a splendid culture. The Chinese government is the one who is preserving and promoting this culture. I saw a billboard by a road in Xinjiang that had two pictures, the one with Uyghur traditional colorful clothes with a big green check, the other with burka and black robes with a Red Cross. Also in rural Xinjiang, I saw cartoon posters saying “ if someone asks you to cover your face and hair to prove your a real Muslim, report to the local gov. If someone’s talks about jihad, reports to the local gov” I saw these things in Radom peoples travel videos on YT that have nothing to do with politics but it show that what the Chines gov has a problem with is a radical form of religion that is the opposite of authentic uyghur traditions and cultures

It is frustrating. It is easy to find proof that certain countries aren't just trying to counter videos like this but actively make Western populations more susceptible to alternative views. For instance you will find many of the tiktokers and such that put out videos like 'ancient Antartic civilization covered up' or 'proof of aliens!' etc. etc. can be linked back to suspicious countries (namely Russia) - not always directly but sometimes just by generating AI content that these creators can use or the original idea for example. It feels like they're trying to persuade people that the 'mainstream' can't be trusted and that you should look towards fringe groups for your information. Basically creating populations that are less likely to believe reputable outlets and more likely to believe alternative facts from unverified sources. It's doubly frustrating because there is a kernel of truth, the West is not perfect, sometimes there are authorities with ulterior motives or coverups, propaganda light and biased news outlets BUT you would have to be blind to not see how absolutely and totally morally corrupt these bad actors are compared to the West. It's like comparing a regular guy who got drunk, drove home and killed somebody and a serial killer without remorse that has killed dozens.

Damn, it's almost like this video spawned from the void, and there was no conversation about the qualisfication of what Israel is doing in gaza in the last few month. Surely; it's only a genuine coincidence that a youtube geopolitical channel, well informed and of quality content totally skipped the icj ruling. He really is keen to use this word, when only a few, small institutions used it. But when bigger institution, larger groups of scholar says the same about Gaza, this dude is silent. Because the events happening in Palestine is closer to the Muslim heartlands than in China. And unlike the Middle East, most people don’t virtually know anything about what China has done because of how tightly they control the media.

There is 0 evidence of Uyghur genocide except for some ET Uyghurs stories. ET is a terrorist group and ET Uyghurs are Islamic radicals. China at worst out some radicals into schools to teach them Chinese language, law, and professional skills, based on the idea that if one has a job and stable life, he is less subject to religious extremism. Xinjiang is a popular tourist destination for both domestic and international travelers. Uyghurs are witnessed to have normal lives there, happily dancing in every park and plaza. Gaza is what a genocide looks like. Large amount of videos of body counts, especially women and children, refugee camps, dangerous situations in which hundreds of journalists and aid workers got killed. The fact that the west claim there is a Uyghur genocide with 0 evidence but there is not a Palestinian genocide demonstrates that it is all about political agenda and the west never really cares about justice, human rights and human lives. Forget how they lied about Iraq WMD? They lied about Iraq, they lied about Libya, they invaded those countries and killed civilians themselves, and they continue sending weapons to Israel to be used to kill civilians. You think they care about Uyghur Muslims? They care more about their weapon sales.

@@firefly4784 Are you maybe a pro Chinese propaganda, why are you doing this. It's literally wrong and misleading the things you are writing. The people are being discriminated and that's wrong. Of course not all of them and if you watched the video if they get a lesser score then 50 then they're a threat, but the surveillance that these people have to enduro even by doing no wrong is still sad. China needs to be stopped and a revolution needs to happen so the country is at real peace with each other.
