This is so killer Carter. There is no better time for it. Your insight and research on places you’ve spent little to no time in is so immense, having your boots on the ground in the western frontier (for the most part) will add so much depth to your already incredible content. You are killing it my friend.

you are so awesome man, you’ve already visited all the states of actually lived in (Michigan, Ohio, and my new home here in Tennessee) and I have to say you have nailed them in amazing detail, so I just can’t wait to see what you have to bring in the future, Omaha Nebraska is really really cool, I can’t remember if that was one of the states or not. I feel it’s really really slept on. I only got a chance to spend a few hours in the city but checking out the little historical markers was so amazing. I can’t wait to see how you do the state justice. Keep on doing what you’re doing, thank you for providing killer contact and congratulations on graduating soon!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

In North Dakota, I recommend Medora/TRNP, the state capitol, the pyramid up by Nekoma, Space Aliens restaurant (Fargo one is the best), downtown Fargo, Mandan village mounds, the nuclear missle silos up by Minot, the enchanted highway, KVLY-TV mast. There’s definitely a lot. The biggest ones are definitely Medora and the park, Bismarck and the capitol building, and downtown Fargo. Even if you don’t go to all the places listed which would be a lot, those are all interesting topics to include in the video. Like who knew that North Dakota used to have the tallest structure (KVLY-TV mast) on the planet before the Burj Khalifa was built?

When doing WV make sure you don’t just stick to the interstate, but when you do leave the interstate make sure you have your map downloaded first as cell service is not likely the further you go. When visiting Morgantown/WVU come watch a basketball game, and if you’re coming in the winter make sure you have 4wd and good tires, plowed roads not guaranteed.

IDAHO - Be sure to hit the Sawtooth Mountains, the Palouse, the Selkirk Mountains, and the Craters of the Moon! The state is very geographically diverse, with the Snake River plains (plus some sand dunes) in the South, to the Rocky Mountain forests in the Central and North portions of the state. Boise is one of the fastest-growing areas in the country, Sun Valley is the first destination ski resort in the United States, the Pocatello region is booming, and Coeur d'Alene is an outlying metro region far away north of the state that's also quickly growing with it's own super unique geography.

OKLAHOMA: Check out the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Preserve near Lawton. The area has some gorgeous hikes, chances for wildlife interaction, some good bites nearby (check out Meers Store and Restaurant and Ann's Country Kitchen), and a few museums in the area including the Refuge visitors center, an aquarium that is one of 2 or 3 in the state, and a museum dedicated to US Army Artillery at nearby Fort Sill.

Utah - In the northwest desert of the great basin you can see a bunch of old explosion sites, and on the border of Nevada is Wendover which has a little military museum. There's also the salt flats which is a pretty cool environment. I think that it's a place where people set records and push things to their limit with cars and stuff too. There's some cool nature and animals and stuff in the bay marsh areas on the east coast of the lake, particularly birds. You can also go to Antelope Island which is famed in the geology community - some of the oldest rocks in the world are found in Antelope Island and the Farmington Canyon area. Down by the salt lake city valley is the famous copper mine, one of the largest and deepest open pit mines in the world. Along the road north of the city you'll see the many refineries and factories responsible for our famously awful air quality in the valley. And on the other side of the freeway is the colorful side of a mountain that's been mined for granite. Timpanogos is a pretty cool cave southeast of the city up in the mountains. There's also Snowbird and Park City, home to the ski resorts. I think Park City also has some history as a mining town. In the Wasatch mountains and the Uintahs are some pretty cool sites, some of my favorites being the Cottonwood canyon(s) and the lakes like Silver lake. There's Bear Lake up by the Utah-Idaho border which is known for its many recreational activities, vivid color, and raspberries. Down south, of course there are the renowned national parks and Dinosaur monument which I of course recommend. There's also a few other cool state parks like Snow Canyon and Goblin Valley, very cool and unusual rock formations there. And of course the Monument Valley. There's also the Navajo who live in the Southeast around the four corners, if you could it would be cool to see you visit that area and include it in your videos on the corner states. I think that the indigenous peoples that survive in this country and the lands they live in deserve recognition. Finally, Salt Lake City has a pretty cool downtown. There's also some cool places like the Clark Planetarium, City Creek, the Red Butte gardens, and the Natural History Museum, among others. I'll surely missing many more cool places too. I doubt you'll have the time to visit everywhere, but these are some natural places I recommend visiting if you end up passing through the area. Tons of great places to visit in our state!

Arizona is beautiful. I’d recommend visiting some old copper mining towns (thats what the star on our state flag is for), like Jerome, where even the Spaniards centuries ago arrived in the area finding copper deposits worked by the Natives. Bisbee is another really good one, probably the most beautiful town in the state. Oatman is a bit of an odd place where gold was mined. Theres the Mogollon Rim as well, Verde Valley. Nogales is probably the most interesting border town. Don’t know a lot about the Northeast though, definitely get a Hopi or Navajo guide on those nations though.

Hell yeah man! (Utah raised, Arizona resident) In Utah, spend some time in the north/rocky mountain section of the state, Salt Lake City is a good base. Southern Utah hit up some national parks, arches is my personal fav. Moab is a good base For Arizona, Phoenix for the city vibes, Tucson for the desert hikes and culture, and flagstaff, payson, or pinetop for mountain AZ. For both stop by a native reservation as well, it's pretty neat.

My recommendations for Wisconsin, as someone who has spent their whole life here, would allow you to hit every significant region of the state. Assuming Madison and Milwaukee are givens, I'd also suggest La Crosse so you can drive through the driftless area, Wisconsin dells for tourism, Green Bay because the Packers are so important to Wisconsin Culture, Door county for tourism, Ashland because it forces you to drive through the Northwoods (the northern 1/3 of the state that is heavily forested, lightly populated, and big for recreation). All these spots will allow you to drive through each geographic region of the state. I'll also add Eau Claire here at the end because it's where I currently live, although I'm originally from the area between Madison and Milwaukee.

If you’re spending a day in Milwaukee, some cool places to visit might be the Art Museum on the lake (Free the first Thursday of each month iirc), the Public Market (which could be a good spot to meet people if that’s what you’re doing here) and the Third Ward in general, and the Third Street Market Hall. Oh yeah, also the Bronze Fonz on the riverwalk, that’s a fun thing to see. The parks on the beach are also neat, with a coffee shop on the edge of one called Colectivo Coffee built inside an old public works building.

In South Dakota you have to see Needles Highway, Black Elk Peak, the Badlands, the Dignity statue on the Missouri River, Wounded Knee massacre memorial, and Jewel or Wind Cave. Tier two would include Spearfish Canyon, Bear Butte, National Grassland, Palisades state park (out of place geography in the east), prairie village outside of Madison (a recreated village of restored and moved historical buildings from around the area including a working carousel). Tier three, wall drug (iconic more for its signs than the actual location) and Laura Ingall's Wilder homestead, and at the bottom of the list but always mentioned for some reason, the World's Only Corn Palace which is literally just a basketball court. If you come in winter, god be with you 🤣🤣. Would love to meet you but i got the hell out to a more progressive country, love the natural beauty and truly fearsome weather of SD (I've seen real feels over 110 and below -50 and we once had 70 tornados in one night) but it's politically unwelcoming to most categories of people and not at all diverse unfortunately.

THIS IS AWESOME!! When/ if you do your Washington state episode I have some great places to visit! Washington has some of the best mature spots in all of the U.S, and we’re really proud of that fact! Some culturally important places include: Lake Crescent, an incredibly beautiful lake surrounded by forest and mountains Rialto beach, a stunning pacific beach that is known for its high winds and giant rock formations The Hoh River, which is one of the best camping spots in the entire Olympic national park! If you were to visit the Hoh, there is a short trail called the ‘Hall of moss’ which is incredible! And finally, Mount Rainier national park, which is known for its stunning scenery, mountain and wildflower fields. I picked the most popular spots because I didn’t want this comment to be too long. I can’t wait to see more of this series and always remember that Washington is cooler than Oregon and always will be!

Kansas - it has a long, complex, and often tragic, often aspirational history! The state motto is "Ad astra per aspera," meaning to the stars through difficulty. Please do not rush through it just because it has a low population. Some places to visit: *Fort Scott* - the line that forms the western limits of of Iowa; Missouri, and Arkansas was once designated the "Permanent Indian Frontier." It was the western border of the United States. Lands west of that border belonged to the U.S. but were meant to be set aside to be territory for natives. That policy did last, but when it was in force, a chain of forts was built, including Fort Leavenworth, Fort Scott (both in what is now Kansas), and Fort Smith, Arkansas, to keep the peace. Fort Scott is beautifully rebuilt/restored and is run by the National Parks Department. *The John Brown museum in Osawatomie* After Kansas and Nebraska were open for non-native settlement, there was the question of whether slavery would be legal or illegal as they became states. This led to an influx of abolishonists into Kansas. Pro-slavery ruffians from Missouri crossed into Kansas and massacred the newly arrived anti-slavery settlers. So then John Brown went to Kansas and started the border war against the ruffians . . . Go see the museum. It is small but amazing. *Lawrence, Kansas* - The abolishonists who settled in Kansas believed in education and founded multiple universities; so check out Kansas University (and maybe Kansas State in Manhattan, Kansas also). Get a feel for the football culture and do check out the university's museums - the natural history museum is a wonder. Back in 1865; during the Civil War, the town of Lawrence fell prey to "bushwhackers" - Confederate guerrillas - when the Confederate Quantrille and his followers raided the town and massacred many pro-union men and boys. *Johnson County Museum in Olathe* Johnson County is the most populous county in Kansas, and has much historical interest. Shawnee natives were moved there after the so-called "permanent Indian frontier" was established. The Santa Fe trail went through Olathe. Quantrille raided it also. However, the museum focuses mostly on the rise of suburbs after WWII, as that is when Johnson County, Kansas became (and still is) a patchwork of mostly prosperous suburbs of Kansas City, Missouri (in case you are wondering, Kansas City, Kansas is in Wyandotte County, north of Johnson County). *Dodge City* - one of the wildest cities of the old west (Wyatt Earp, Bat Masterson, Doc Holliday . . . ). Dodge City is also on the Santa Fe Trail (as the trail runs hundreds of miles across Kansas), and it was a crucial stop on the Atchison, Topeka and Sana Fe railway, which in turn made it the terminus of the Western cattle trail. Sadly, Dodge City was the point where buffalo hides and meat were shipped via railroad to the rest of the country in quantities that devastated the bison herds in a few years. After the bison supply diminished, Dodge City became a major cow town, where cattle were driven to be processed and the beef shipped arcross the country. *Baxter Springs* is a small hamlet in souheastern Kansas, but it has a museum. (Baxter Springs was also raided by Quantrille.) Before Dodge City, Baxter Springs was the railroad town where cattle were driven. It is on historic route 66. The museum also covers how Southeast Kansas is a mining area, and attracted immigrants from Italy and the Balkans. *Wichita* is the state's most populous city and has historically been a hub for airplane manufacturing, especially important during WWII. *Coronado Heights.* Long before the United States was even an idea, Spanish explorer Coronado passed through what would become Kansas looking for the cities of gold. It is believed he viewed a vast valley from this 300 foot butte. The view is just gorgeous, and it is close to Lindsborg, founded much later by Swedish immigrants. Not specific points - but Kansas has several ecological zones - the southeast is hilly and forested, sort of the outskirts of the Ozarks. The central part of the state is the Flint Hills, probably the greatest pature land for cattle outside Argentina. The western half of the state is endless flat wheatfields, very sparsely populated. Although flat, it is not level. It is a long slope leading up to the Rockies in Colorado. Btw, Kansas Territory once extended westward so far that Denver was in Kansas. Somebody in Topeka decided to cut Kansas short because they did not like Denver 😅

If road tripping: Always fill up between a quarter and half a tank (never hit a quarter tank). There are huge swaths of America devoid of gas stations. Fill up before reaching a metropolitan area (never fill up in a city or big town.) Know the weather you’re headed into-Assume it will be worse than they say. Carry harsh weather gear, water, food, a candle, a lighter, and a light source. Keep your head on a swivel and be alert at all stops. If American: ABC: Always Be Carrying.

Sometimes, the smaller cities and towns are more interesting than the big cities. As I traveled around, a lot of the big cities, to some degree, seem to be alike.

About Arizona-Phoenix. Please don't focus as Kyle from Geography King does only on some national monuments, pretty obscure, and just discard Phoenix as a boring, sprawling suburb. If you guys do this YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND Arizona and Phoenix metro, you will not understand why Phoenix is the fastest metro growing in the country ( deapite the weather) and Scottsdale is one of the most visited and praised tourist destination in US. And don't overlook Sedona and Flagstaff, and totally NOT the canyon that connects them, one of the most beautiful drives in the country. Back to Phoenix metro, you cannot understand Phoenix until you understand its unique Geography. The metro is centered around a bunch of so called mountains, more like high rock structures, amongst which Camelback Mountain is the most famous, beautiful and unique. All the beauty, upscaleness, luxury, WHICH ARE AN ORGANIC PART OF THE METRO, drawing the most expensive zip codes and the eye candy of the local population, represents the essence of the life of the Phoenicians. They do staycations there, they dine, they lodge, they visit family lodging there, in the most stunning and beautiful resorts in the country, spread IN THE HEART of the city, part of the organic fabric of it. Between Camelback East, Paradise Valley, the Biltmore area, Central and North Scottsdale, there are 80-100 square miles of pure desert beauty, resort after resort, The Phoenician, Camelback Inn, The Sanctuary, Royal Palms, Hemrosa Inn, Omni Montelucia, Mountain Shadows, Andaz, The Boulders, Fairmont and soon Ritz Carlton. You cannot overlook those as not being part of the city life, cause THEY ARE PART of the city life. They are the desert version of the Chicago Loop, they are Phoenix Manhattan, they are what counts in Phoenix. Also, is worth exploring Gilbert, with its newly booming downtown and they hip neighborhoods of Agritopia and Morrison Ranch. If you don't understand this, and analyze Phoenix by the metrics of walkability ( you cannot have walkability at 100 day of over 100 degress as you have in other places) and urban vibe, as you would do in Cincinnati or Pittsburgh, that means that you didn't GET Phoenix , as Kyle didn't

I think its a given but when in Florida, Key West is a must see. One of the largest and most well preserved old towns in America. Lots of museums, nightlife, and fun seasonal festivals all packed into a small island. Also probably one of the only places in america where you can go subathing in january.
