You forgot because the game was completely hideous. lol. I never forgot the hours i spent in starfleet command II, because it was probably the best tactical ship game ive ever played. How can you forget something like that? well, if we are talking about SFCIII its not a big deal. Better to forget about crappy games.

My favorite game in the series will always be Orion Pirates. But you gotta love SFC3 for some TNG-era action!

The biggest problem with the game was the near removal of energy management. The earlier iterations really forced you to pick and choose how you were going to use your available power. Reinforcing those shields often meant you had to pull power from another system, cutting into your firepower or maneuverability. Secondary systems like Tractor Beams, Transporters, Cloaking Devices, Emergency Maneuvers, etc all pulled hungrily at the power supply, and couldn't be spammed carelessly. You had batteries (auxiliary power) but had to use it sparingly and at the right minute, as it couldn't recharge with all your combat systems drawing power from the main power core. Stuff like this really forced you to make tradeoffs and decide what was really important, and added another layer beyond weapon / shield arcs and maneuvering for shots. SFC:3 limited power draw to weapons and shields. There wasn't really a ton of choice involved, and overclocking energy on systems came with increasingly marginal improvements that just never felt like they had a ton of impact. Things like Anti-Cloaking Scan or Deep Scan pull mildly on the power, but not enough to really notice most of the time. While a lot of the simplifications from SFC: 2 are welcome, the energy management was, imo, the heart of SFC's gameplay.

I'm not gonna deny that tbh. I play the first game and OP and they are tougher because of the energy management. I do like the way ships and handled in this game though and the amount of customization you can do!

lol. The biggest problem with the game was that it was crap. As simple as that. They removed half of the features, the game lost all that feeling previous releases had, they reduced the selectable races to almost half, everything towards slightly better graphics. This was a huge dissapointment and the end of good star trek games.

@@reerjgiorgesimply put, activision got the full licence rather than just TNG and VOY licence, which meant SFC, and decided 'who cares about the TMP era' and made this game TNG. And didn't understand what 1+2 were. I never even played SFC 1 or 2, and understood this and didn't like it.

SO MUCH NOSTALGIA! I spent 100's of hours playing all three games. Really wish this would make a comeback somehow.

Glad people still enjoying these games. Had SFC1 and 2 as a kid and just bought SFC3 original disc on ebay to play on my XP machine. Klingon Academy, New Worlds, Armada. Golden age of star trek games.

I miss the campaigns groups used to put up. We had several fleets that would sponsor various mods and play factions in conquer the map games.

Loved the first 2 games when I was a kid in the 90s specially the first. Never play SFC3 because at that time we got elite force 2, Bridge commander and armada + the game was not easy to run too so I sadly skip it. Would love to try again today.

It is a fun game!

I liked 1 because you could just Spam missiles, but I got terrified with the Special missions with the mirror universe and ran, 2 I was surprised in myself to actually FINISH the game and the missions... and 3.. never had the chance......but I always reinforced my shields with extra power and overloaded my Torpedos for the first strike to blow the enemies shields out then go back to normal.

Too bad interplay an Activision went out of business I really wish they would make some more additions to this game series

I used to make the Gamespy mod for this back in the day. Over 200 ships from various sci-fi franchises.

I loved this game when I was a kid

It really sucks that the new consoles and new computers are not going to have disk drives

Would it be really cool if they had SFC come to PS and Xbox.

Dang, I was just talking to a friend about how much I loved this game back when it came out, and did a search...never would have thought it would have mod support in 2023 lol.

This was the worst of all three command series, if you loved this game... you probably will die of pleasure playing the previous ones that are 2000% better lol.

As one lover of star trek and getting into the older games but how does the combat work is it passive or are you fully in control of the ship?

How do you get widescreen to work? Still appears as 4:3 and is set to 1080p resolution? I have the GOG version along with the upgrade mode installed.

was ok. i mire loved 1 and 2 also Op addon.

Oh well, i always prefered Command 3 and not 2. I loved the ui and it wasnt overpacked with too much stuff. Only thing i hated is , that it was too damn short. Too little stuff to do. Lack of quests, races..

omg i somehow forgot this game existed! though i am certain i played it for hours and hours just picked it up on gog thanks to you!!!!!+1 sub!

Again, dont play this crap. If you are going to play something like this, grab stafleet command II. Its a million times better than this SFCIII that was a complete failure i nevery single aspect.

Not much to learn. It was the most basic game of the three. So basic that it was ridiculous, boring, and forgettable. SFII waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay million times better. SFC3 doesnt even deserve to be remembered. It was a huge dissapointment back in the days, and now, well, its even embarrasing that people is even willing to play it. Star trek fans probably have very little choice when it comes to star trek pc games but if they are going to play something like SFC3, they play SFC2 instead. At least the smart ones.

@@reerjgiorge Not sure if SFC2 is on GOG, I know SF3 is (and if worst came to worst, I have the old Disc laying around with a CD-R of mods I installed back in 2004 or 2005, lol). I was able to get SFC3 as a gift back in 2002, never had the PC or ability to play SFC1 or 2 (or KA), though not from want (I recall drooling over SFC 2 and KA ads in Star Trek The Magazine and GamePro mags back in the day)

Can you play it online somehow? Multiplayer service was disabled after a while. Back then, we played it online all the time.

How did you get it to work in Windows 10 or 11 ? Mine seems to get stuck. The download indicates it will work in these OS 10 or 11.

Just played the GOG version!

The ships are not showing up in the dockyard by lay out :(

Sadly installing the mod and trying to play is no joy for me keep getting a error saying unable to load color needs to be 16 bit and the game dies ( game version gog )

How compares against the Generations At War mod ? Was the mod back in the 2000's when I was playing this game. At first, I miss the uber music selection that had GAW mod

But how do you get it to work in win 10?

How did you get this mod to work? I've tried everything and I just can't get the resolution to work, or have it not crash when launching missions. It seems it just works for some people but not for others.

I have the same issue. Crashes to a Need 16 bit color error and I have set compatibility to 16 bit and Win XP

personally I was super hyped for the game but found it underwhelming I much prefer and still play bridge commander and the armada games.

oh this is a really good game and with the extra ships U really want to try out the mod :)

Doesnt download on gog no seeders for torrent .

This game was my nemesis back in the day, could never finish it. Got stuck in a mission i couldnt beat. Maybe i give it another chance sometime.

frankly the previous game where better. still good.

I would love to see this ported to mobile.
