Shawn Johnson burst onto the world gymnastic scene at the 2007 World Championships in Stuttgart where she won the gold medal in the team, floor exercise, and the coveted all-around. A year later, Johnson became an Olympic gold medalist at the Beijing Olympics.
An unfortunate skiing injury stalled her gymnastic career, and Johnson eventually retired from the sport in 2012. However, that didn’t stop the athlete from pursuing other endeavors; Johnson became a "Dancing with Stars" champion, proving that her competitive fire was still alive. @@ronniejoepublic Shawn has a lovely face and beautiful complexion. After Elena Mukhina was injured I couldn't watch gymnastics for decades. I am watching the 1980s mostly the floor exercises but it is hard to watch the very dangerous acrobatics now, it was dangerous enough in the 1980s. it is a beautiful sport but many difficulties even for audience seems a moral choice to watch it with the pedophile scandals and Bela Karolyi and Belu I have known of for decades, neither should have been allowed in a gym with children, Marta too.
Whats not to like about her? Johnson is such a lovely woman. Best beam worker EVA!

Amazing, I always thought Shawn's body was the most perfect gymnastic. The symmetry and the balance of her limbs coupled with her power made the hardest tasks look like a breeze. What a move by the parents to introduce her to gymnastics.
She's gorgeous with an amazing body and they made her feel bad about herself. What is wrong with people??

You know, nobody can MAKE you feel bad about yourself unless there is already something inside of you that feels that way. That's giving too much power to others. I think this "body shaming" thing is ridiculous. Everyone's body's is different in appearance, but we all have the same basic body parts and it's up to us to use what we have. Why feel bad about an article criticizing your body when you have won Olympic medals? Sorry, Shawn, not buying it.

I feel the same way about working out. Cheerleading and gymnastics took care of my body so when my body started to fall apart and it was time to retire I struggled to learn how to work out alone
Shawn is a genuinely lovely and beautiful young woman, Andrew her husband clearly adores her and they are such a wonderful example of a young Christian couple!

Absolutely loved this video!!! Absolutely love Shawn... I've watched her entire career. I've seen her Mom explode with emotion in the stands and coach Chow trying to keep his Heart from leaping out of his chest in front of the camera as his student perfected her craft. Her rival, teammate and even roommate Nastia Liukin was world class also. But when her Father the Great Valery Liukin gave Shawn a big hug after a performance, it brought a tear to my eye. It was about respect, just like when Shawn's Asian competitors hugged her, you knew they worshipped her... Negative comments about her body???? (WTF).... Shawn's perfect inside & out.. I think she may have been too sensitive here with the Medias comments... but hey I've got 6 sisters and I've heard it all before... but... if it empowers you... It's all good... On the subject of the miscarriage... There is only one greater pain.... and Shawn"s much too young for that... The Sheer Joy she is gonna feel will make that pain go away. Shawn Johnson a Mother... the world just got better!!!

Phenomenal gymnastic who despite having her future siderailed by an injury went on to find the love of her life, Andrew East, whom she adores and loves intensely, and a beautiful baby girl appropriately named Drew, after her Dad. They have both had wonderful careers and are now a beautiful little family. They have much love for others and give of themselves freely to others. Love their happy and sometimes giggly relationship. Just goes to show you if your kid is running you ragged and climbing on everything around the house, put her into some gymnastic classes and that "terror" as a toddler may become a gold medal winner at the Olympics.

I lost my first pregnancy too, but (praise God!) my second one was a sweet success! I’m so happy for her.
I always thought she had one of the most amazing bodies. Which was icing on the cake of her extreme skills.

Kudos, kudos and bravo to her parents who didn’t try to change her or her boisterous energy to make her “fit in” with everyone else and instead looked for an appropriate outlet that fit who she was. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I’m from Iowa and I literally had no clue she was from Iowa like where have s I been
I used to watch her and other gymnasts in both U.S. and International competitions, and now you can see her on the channel "The East Family" which she runs with her husband, Andrew East. They're expecting a baby any day now, literally, and the love they have for each other shines through the screen.
I really like how she claims to be invincible while she is standing on the balance beam. I also really like imagining her flashing all different colors just like Mario while he has the power of a star!

@@jluzhnykh nope baby girl. They had the baby like 2 day's ago. Check their merch site. They announced it by releasing a pink or blue shirt and that would tell the fans the gender of the baby. They said it in one of their baby haul video's. They said they wanted to enjoy their time once the baby was born and not focus on editing a video and told us to check the merch site everyday and that'll tell us when the baby is here and the gender is well.

I love her and her husband Andrew’s KZread channel! Just had their first baby October 29, 2019 (I believe that’s the correct date but correct me if I’m wrong). They are such a beautiful, loving, Christian faith little family! Oh baby is a girl named Drew, I’m assuming after her daddy! 🥰

Like you just said, they were saying that she isnt the typical gymnastic build, which sadly got pointed out a lot at the time.
I see a lot of Shawn in Simone.
I believe gymnasts force their bodies since they are very young in a way that eventually afects it , because you can tell their bodies , while still competing , look so "compressed " . Once they stop competing and grow older , their bodies don't really have a "shape" , because for many years it was "forced" to stay "compacted" by "working" many hours a day in a gym . Everybody applauded them , but years later , these ex-gymnasts have to pay the price by having a body that " never had the chance to develop (once again) NORMALLY . You can tell for example , that Shawn's body is growing 'everywhere", because it lacks "those extreme exercises " it was subjected to ever since Shawn was a little girl and competing . Of course her great smile and happy face didn't change , but her athletic body is gone . At the end , representing a Country and winning Gold Medals is the ONLY GOAL !! For many people : Who cares what happens to the body of a female gymnast as long as she brings home a Medal !!

Des Moines is NOT a small town...it is the Capital of Iowa and the most populous. It is known for being a center for Insurance companies and publishing houses. West Des Moines is basically a suburb of Des Moines but has a more small community feel. I'm really tired of people calling our large cities 'small towns'. Maybe in relation to LA or NYC or Chicago et al...but it's all relative.
I will never understand how a gymnast would NOT be expected to be muscular. 🤦🏼♀️

Well if you are a gymanstics fan, you would know that “She won the gold” would mean in the all around. They could’ve specified in an event final. She’s still amazing though.

Media-communications tricks. For so long as she won one gold, then she won 'gold.' They play on technicalities, another example is when they say something like "over/under 70% of xxx" which literally means 71% most of time

Sports media is full of idiots. Sean was an awesome gymnast and worked hard for it all. I always wondered about how big her thighs were, but then I found out how high she could go and realized they were perfect. I am proud of her achievements in life and wish her all the best.
