When I was younger our neighbours had a Labrador that would bark all day and most of the way through the night, non stop. The owners would never tell it to be quiet, or to stop barking. They would never tell it off for anything, it would bark, jump up at people, run around the house from window to window constantly, and just always be on over-drive all the time. We had up to six dogs at the time that were all more or less well trained, they were happy and playful, but knew when to just relax and would calm down when they were told to. I trained each of these dogs myself. These neighbours once saw me training one of our dogs that had trouble pulling on the lead, and told me that "you should never tell a dog off, it is cruel." Bearing in mind I hadn’t even told my dog off, I just kept stopping and making us stand still every time it pulled on the lead before walking again and correcting it. But that told me enough about how these people treated their dog and why it behaved the way it did. They thought it was cruel to tell their dog off, so they never did. It barked all day and kept the whole estate awake at night, it leapt around the furniture and and dragged the lead when it went out on walks. It wasn’t happy, it was always hyper alert and would never relax, as if it felt it couldn’t. Then one day a plumber who lived on our estate offered to fix our neighbours plumbing, and while he was over there the dog bit his hand enough to draw blood. That dog had to be put down just because they couldn’t train their dog, and believed that positive reinforcement was the only way you should train a dog. Positive reinforcement works, but you also have to tell you’re dog off when it does something wrong, they don’t understand through positive reinforcement alone, that takes a lot of figuring out for them for owners that don’t put the time and effort into that style of training 24/7. That dog died because the owners wouldn’t do something they deemed ‘abusive’. You NEED to tell your dog off, to show it that you are in charge, or else it’s just not going to be happy or comfortable. Dogs need that assurance from you that you are in charge to be able to relax in their own skin and be dogs and family members. Please don’t believe that positive reinforcement is the only way to treat your dog, I watched that mindset kill the poor black lab next door.

Similar thing happened in my neighborhood. Owner of an aggressive dog didn't think the dog's behavior was a problem. That dog broke out of the gate while I was walking my two dogs and attacked them. Luckily the owner grabbed the dog off mine. Fast forward 2 years. Dog attacks neighbor's dog but this time the attacked dog almost died. Grouchy dog was put down. We all knew that dog was the product of a jerk owner. If you want a dog in your home please take responsibility for it!

Interesting that not once did you mention that you hit or kicked your dog what you were doing was negative positive positive reinforcement that is of course if you gave your dog a treat if not its called negative positive reinforcement , if you do it correctly you really do not need to yell at your dog as a deep voiced sit command works just as well if not better. Treat your dog often and get your dog to focus on you by using the treat by moving it from the dogs nose to directly above and you end up with one happy companion that will want to be with you.

Oh, that makes sense. The millions of people having their wages driven down and who are unable to find work because of people willing to accept work at a lower rate surely would be silent too......... It's not that they are stealing our jobs as much as they are screwing the wage market. People are having to adopt to a Hispanic culture where 5 adults live in the same house splitting bills. Hispanics take lower pay which effects the entire job market that they are swarming. What's sad is that the Hispanics could get higher wages but they compete themselves as well as natives to the United States out of the wages that they deserve. Also, ask a Mexican if they think Hondurans should be able to come here illegally. It's a fun social experiment. The same person that says "Borders should be open" is they same person that will say Hondurans/El Salvadorians/Guatemalans shouldn't be able to come in to the Untied States. Hypocrisy much? Anyhow. I've had this discussion with tens of Hispanics and they agree with what I'm saying. They think they are worth more money than what they get paid and I agree with them. If they stopped letting business owners pay them low wages and demanded a higher pay than everyone would benefit. I doubt that your friend in high school doing a Cartman impression of "They're stealing our jerrrbs" is one who would represent the people affected by the massive influx of immigration.

I remember my excitement as I go straight home from school just to watch old Dog Whisperer videos on KZread. Now we have about 11 rescues and they are all so quirky but well-mannered. We make sure they get enough playtime and allow them to go zoomies especially during the day, they know how to wait and give eye-contact when it’s feeding time, they growl at each other at first but they never escalate with our simple “SSHH.” Thankfully growling never happens now that they have bonded even more. Being able to have the gist of seeing which dog would bond well with us and the rest of our dog family is also something I owe from watching Cesar for years. There are instances where owners would pick a dog they can’t handle, which I’ve seen a lot among the clients that approach Cesar’s shows. It’s easy to take Cesar’s ways in a different light especially with those actions people see as “kicking” and “abuse.” But I’m glad majority of people are not taking Cesar and his ways out of contexts. I’m just so happy for him he’s got his two loving sons, his partner, friends, fur & feather family, and his genuine fans to remind him how much he’s loved. I wish all the best for him!

@dg Harm is not only a physical act but also a mental act. If you kick , punch or hang a dog into submission you are causing mental stress the result of which could be a change in the dogs demeanor impulsive behavior retaliation further down the road. You can not change a dogs behavior in 15 minutes especialy if it is already the result of anxiety and fear . You just don't treat a fear based problem with fear. As far as getting a few dogs to follow you around is quite easy , feed them some treats make them think that there are more to come as you take the food out of your pocket very easy to do something that even you can do. I have done it for years at obedience school makes people think that dogs love me when really its just the treats. Any good animal behavorist psychologist will get a much more balanced and stressless result for your dog without the need to punch and kick it. But if you like to follow milan and kick ,hang punch your dog go ahead but just hope that someone from animal protection doesn't see you do it. PS. The problem is people get told by a friend how good this person is and dont do a bit of research nothing is ever reported on the dogs that are left with their owners after he has had his heavily edited program shown on tv. The UK humane society tried to get him banned from doing his shows in England large groups of people walked out of his shows in Australia , his methods are not in the dogs best interests nor the owners.

All his other dogs he treats with love and affection. All these other IDIOTS that dont understand would be the death of these innocent but agressive dogs. Grow a brain people.

Dominance theory is outdatet. People like G. Bloch/E. Radinger do research on wolves in Yellowstone and they found out, that there is no leader, no chief. There are families living peacefully together, pups move away and start there own family as they get older. If a wolve is hurt/sick the pack stays by his side. One she-wolve decided to stay next to her partner who was badly injured by a car. The rest of the family/pack went hunting for them! It is not true that the dominant one eats first! Check out new research, it´s amazing!

An owner has the right to expect good behavior, AND the responsibility to shape the dog's behavior, firmly but humanely. Nowadays so many parents want to be their kid's "best friend" and refuse to set any limits and rules, when what the kid really needs is A PARENT. So it's no surprise so many owners are actually afraid of their own dogs and think there's no need to train them.

I saw that show where he got the animal cruelty allegations. The dog was dominant over its owner, very aggressive and violent. Cesar was trying to discipline the dog and turn the dominant table around. He was forced to do such physical measures in an incident where he was bitten by the dog. He already made some efforts of changing the dogs attitude and forced to do physical things as a last resort. In that episode cesar has a time limit to change the dog’s behaviour before returning it to its owner. And i dont think anyone can fix that dog’s mentality in a short time. That is the only episode ive seen him going over the line acts of discipline. I blame the owner not the dog for its violent and aggressive behaviour. I would suggest everyone to watch the whole episode and not just some clips.

you always have like 0.03 sec to react when your animal snaps... Milan didn't do anything to harm the dog - it was previous owner and lack of training that led to that situation and Milan tried to de-escalate it... if you have two fighting dogs there's no "polite" way to separate them and one of them will get the kick in the butt, but only to change his attention from one subject to another - most ppl confuse that with real animal cruelty

People can try to convince me that Cesar Milan is somehow a bad dog trainer, but you would need to give examples of actual abuse. He acknowledged that it was his fault that the dog bit him because of not paying attention to to how the dog reacted to the cameraman. The dog was chomping on him pretty good. He used appropriate force to stop the mauling. He adopted Holly, and she loves him as if the incident never happened.

  • @elizaalmabuena

Aj Johnson ok, you asked for examples: Shadow, asphyxiated until tongue turned blue, protruding penis (yes this is a symptom of asphyxiation in male dogs), and collapse. Jonbee, asphyxiated until tongue turned blue, and collapse. Ruby and Jinx (I believe those were the names of the terriers), displayed prey drive directed at one another, prey drive reaction is highly self rewarding and contagious amongst dogs, placed in an environment with additional dogs which were affected by the prey drive reaction resulting in a large (potentially deadly) fight. Simon, dog with prey drive reaction, placed in an enclosure with a prey item with no form of control (muzzle or long leash) as a safeguard in case he exhibited the behavior. Those are the ones off the top of my head, I would need to go over every case to be sure how often such cases ocurre. I do recall a few cases of flooding for dogs with fear issues. Flooding is forceful exposure to high stress until there is no reaction, usually due to learned helplessness a state in which at minimum there is mental shutdown, worse case severe metabolic shutdown. It is commonly used as a form of psychological torture, still regarded as potential behavior therapy for humans but only under highly controlled situations, the liberty to call of the procedure by the patient, and with the patient’s full consent after explaining method and dangers (think, non invasive lobotomy).

In the military it isn't too uncommon for the handler to get bit by the dog. This mostly happens when a new dog enters the rotation and the handler over-corrects the dog. There is no punching or kicking the dog involved, but commanding the dog to let go. That's what you do when you have control over a dog. If you don't have control over a dog, then you have to get physical with the dog. The conclusion is, is that this person cannot be called "the dog whisperer", because he did not have control over the dog.

Nightfly maybe think about he was helping the owners to learn how to have control over the dog. A dog who was never controlled can’t respect you so you have to get physical to fucking tell them no. Then the dog will understand what control is and that he is not the leader of that family. Stop acting like he kicked the living crap out of that dog, but you simply can’t say no to a dog that doesn’t know what no means.

A dog doesn't know what "no" means to begin with, a dog will know what's allowed and what isn't. You never, ever have to get physical with a dog as is evident by military dogs and their handlers.

I think there is a big difference in handling a trained military dog and an aggressive problem dog that probably hasn't been told what is wrong or right in years, if ever. Of course Caesar didn't have control over the dog in that moment. But he is a dog whisperer, not a magician. What do you expect him to do, get control over every dog that has been a problem for years magically in an hour or so? You comparison lacks a lot in that regard. I truly wanna see one of you military dog trainers tell an untrained aggressive dog to please let go again.

Because of him I was able to train my second dog to be an ESA who is so well-behaved he could go to college with me ride the city bus and go anywhere with me we're dogs aren't normally allowed to go. I watched the show where she BY PHONE (the coward) told a family the only option was to put the dog down because it didn't respond to her squeaky voice and food throwing. There's nothing wrong with a positive approach to training a dog who is open to it, but to condemn a dog to death because it doesn't see things your way is barbaric. Her ignorance and FEAR of dogs who aren't wired to sit on someone's lap 24/7 is scary and dangerous. Prior to her television show she had nearly NO experience with dogs other than her own pets, she admitted she wasn't a dog trainer in the initial interview for the series. She was/is nothing more than a TV personality and a bitch of one at that that lacks knowledge and conviction.

a dog in a red state of mind can usually only be broken by a physical touch of equal or higher energy. thats how wolves are. people see this is animal abuse because theyre pussy and uneducated but dont realize thats how animals communicate. we are also animals

You must remember that at the end dogs are animals and they get driven by instinct. His methods are effective and much more long term than some short term method that could relapse.

in my experience the sort of methods he uses I believe can only be learned when you are a child he was the first dog trainer I seen on tv that I knew understands the way I train my dogs. always calm. when I talk to people the ones who understands his methods have usually had animals from children. I've fostered many "aggressive" and abused dogs. and using these sort methods every one of them I was able to help the be a dog again rather than a dog with many psychological issues. dogs only become "dogs with issues" when they live with ignorant humans. why is it when animals in a zoo we provide as natural an environment for them as possible but our dogs, some dress them up treat them as human.. why is this nonsense any different from dancing bears?? it is when you treat your dog like a human that they develop issues..

Thank you for this video. I’ve also been bullied for loving animals and respecting them. I guess there’s a whole lot of animal haters, hunters, and evil folks out there. But animal lovers are growing in the world, hopefully the human “race” will slow down and one day we can enjoy each other and live fulfilled lives with nature.

I have also been ridiculed for my love of animals. Not only from strangers but from my own family member's and church family. This incident was very disheartening. They made me feel like I put the animal world before us human's, and that just was not so. I spent my life working for elderly person's and person's with mental issues and physical issues, but that wasn't considered. They just centered on the animal issue. These people who have disrupted Mr. Millan's life with all this negativity should be thoroughly ashamed of their selves. I hold him and his training techniques in the highest regards. God Bless Mr. Millan

@@The-Red-Baron dogs don’t see it as the animal kingdom tho, his methods of dominating dogs are harmful not physically but mentally as the dogs learn to shut down, they behave out of fear. In fact the man who created the idea that dogs need an alpha even admitted he was wrong as he was studying parents. Positive reinforcement is the best you can do for dogs. Cesar is also under fire right now as a gymnast made a lawsuit against him cause his pitbull bit her and she can no longer compete and the same pitbull mauled a puppy to death and cesar tried to cover it up. A few years ago there was another lawsuit against his training company where one dog was left bloody and bruised from intense training with a choke collar what cost $20-25,000 for the dogs surgery. I don’t believe that he doesn’t love dogs tho, it’s clear he does but he is stuck in his ways instead of adapting his training to new information that has come fourth

@@carlamcgrath7971 I understand…most people don’t know how to use choke collars and stuff like that. (if done improperly can cases damage to the dogs neck) u are right one two things is I know the law suits and I know some dogs have been hurt. So that is why I train my dogs with respect and not fear.
