Banana's are everywhere in Korea, but did you know that it was first imported in the 1970's and the price was very expensive. Banana's became a status symbol due to it's high cost, and because of that it became desirable. Fortunately for Korea, they lifted import restrictions allowing more free flow of this tropical fruit into the country. Today Banana's are the top selling fruit, and there are banana flavored drinks and snacks everywhere.

I didn't know either until I looked into it. Found out my mom worked at a company that imported the first bananas to Korea
I really enjoyed learning the history behind bananas in korea, The banana campaigns were absolutely hilarious too!
