This video is about a new metro station in Shenzhen which was no more than a fishing village when I went to UK in 1972. Back in 1972 China had just one metro system and that was Beijing but UK had two with one in London and another in Glasgow. Today in 2023 UK has increased the number of metro by one and that is in Newcastle upon Tyne. China in the same period has added metro to 50 cities. The speed of China building the metro can also be seen by this video claiming the station shown was one out of the 369 station of Shenzhen. I keep records of Chinese development as a matter of interest for fact checks. In my record dated 2021 ShenZhen had only 288 stations and combined total length of 419km. It ranked 10th out of the 200 metro systems in my record with the 11th position occupied by London that has 402km total length and 272 stations. Thus between 2021 and the beginning of 2023 Shenzhen has increased the number of stations by 81. London got 9 new stations out of the newly added Elizabeth line. ShenZhen is just one of the 6 cities that has metro in the Chinese province Guangdong that last year had a GDP comparable to a country like Canada.

when I was in China, what impressed me is that, their cities are so CLEAN!! Almost as clean as Singapore. Same, painting on walls are strictly forbidden, like Singapore. To be honest, although I don't want to offend friends from the US and Europe, the cities and metro in the US and europe, are too dirty and smell badly. For these rich countries, why you cannot spend some effort to make your cities clean??

No, it’s not because of open up to Hong Kong. The main reason is the China central government decided to establish special economic zone in Shenzhen, which obtained a lot of favorable policies, for instance, the tax policy. It’s kind of getting concentrated effort to develop a city with resources of a country. Hongkong benefited hugely as a trading window between China and the whole west for many years since like 1970s.

B'cuz it's darn empty, i guess it's below the expected passengers/volume to make profit (?) or let alone making break-even funding (of billions tobe constructed.!?!). Such a mismatched calculation. Hopefully in (near) future, it could catch-up the estimated break-even crowd volume. Build whatever you want, but that have to relate to, at least, the realistic public demand.

well, in China, construction quality depends on "Money", "Regulation" and "Location". For regulation, china has implemented laws like holding construction corp + design houses liable if the building fails in an earthquake less than 8.0 since 2013? (around 2008-2015 I don't remember which exact year) For Location, Shenzhen is not on the fault line so it is unlikely to have earthquake For Money, since its Shenzhen metro, and a state-owned corporation, they can definitely afford the good material and quality. Therefore, normally it is earthquake proof
