What you do now is make a bunch of them, launching them at slightly different intervals and all within the same chunk. They should in theory go for a very long time because most will be between chunks during an auto save.

The fact one of the pistons in the old photos from Argonaut is both extended and retracted at the same time is proof the chunk was indeed unloaded at some point, due to active pistons sometimes bugging out on a chunk reload. And since it clearly was unloaded and reloaded, the pistons also stopped due to piston activity always freezing with a chunk reload.

8:00 I have a lot of respect for this griefer who listened to the builder’s request and left part of the oasis untouched.

How was the ship able to fly so far? 11:34 The ship was able to fly further because 2b2t's TPS is half of a normal world's TPS, so an auto save took twice as long to occur.

It might have been a consensual grief. People don’t want their bases being used after they’re gone, and most true 2b2t don’t show mercy like that. It was probably just a demo job to get rid of the base.

If they did they didn't get very far. The ship will only load the chunk it's currently in, and only because of the redstone/piston activity. When the second guy found it, he obviously interacted with it AFTER the update which added more end islands. You can tell because if he was exploring before that update, the width of the void chunk trail would've been wider as a player loads way more chunks than redstone ever would. You can tell he didn't get very far because it was pretty close to the end of the void chunk trail. Additionally, you can see in his screenshot on the tweet that one of the pistons broke, presumably during a chunk unload, causing the ship to stop working.

Sam Murray minecraft 1.9, which added the end islands was released on February 2016. Which is before the flying machine was found. So the guy that found it could have followed the chunk borders just like fit did and, after recovering it, he could have used it without generating void chunks anymore.

They have, that's exactly what was done on prototech to reach the world border One method is known as a permaloader, works in 1.12, and relies on loading chunks that have a higher priority of being unloaded during an autosave In 1.16 chunk loading is fundamentally different, and autosaves don't affect it. Nether portals can load an area but i don't think there's any movable block or entity which can, other than players, and the minimum loaded area is much larger

Minecarts have historically been entities, within reasonability if that minecart was still considered "moving" then the ship hypothetically continues to move. Albeit at a slower rate thanks and with only one chunk since it doesn't have a render distance.

When have moving entities ever dictated whether chunks unload or not? I’m fairly certain that entities in any state do not interfere with chunk loading.

@@gizmonster from what I remeber, although it's been awhile, if something is updating in a chunk the chunk is loaded so that the update can be registered. This factors because entities, like moving minecarts, are always updating.

The autosave interval is just a server parameter. We know 2b2t is not a regular minecraft server, and is pretty well known for its low tps. It wouldn't surprise me if the autosave interval was much longer than 6000 ticks (more like 10 minutes or even half an hour).

I'm confused

This intro was so good, I thought that I was watching Fit describe a plane crash or something. It was surreal.

I have an idea as it had stayed in your render distance as an auto save happened before you died creating a glitch while it was in the middle of two to allow it to possibly let the two chunks glitch happen. I think that it thought it thought that you were still there until the next auto save

his episode had a strange and fantastical atmosphere. First with the ender sea serpent, dangerously traversing the end, finding a ruined oasis, and finally finding the old ship.

Fit: Hause disabled Elytras. Also fit 2 days later: Looks like we're going on a roadtrip!!!

I think on 2015 Minecarts used to count as player-like entities. PS: For those saying its impossible, it took a few seconds before you die and therefore the machine was still loaded by the player, and the case b is that there are other players nearby that accidentally loaded the chunk once again or there was another player when Fit died. Hope you dont get confused! :D

Ground items/entities keep chunks loaded until they despawn. Seeing as how a minecart is an entity I'd imagine that's what kept the chunks loaded and the machine working. Not sure why it would stop though.

I like how its just no big deal that the 2b2t end has a bedrock floor

So this gave me an idea, although someone else might have done it already. If an airship is built to be long enough so its always crossing a chunk border, would it keep going forever in the direction it was sent since its always crossing a chunk border as the auto save happens?

This is insane dude!!!

Imagine if he had flown for 2 blocks more before changing directions, in that case, the ship would always be in 2 chunks and thus it would never stop 0_0

Nope cuz it went from in 2 chunks to not so clearly it was changing place in the chunk between auto-saves

The ship was not moving at the proper speed for it to be in the same chunk location (in between 2 chunks) every 5 minutes therefore it would have stopped sooner or later

@@matthew8789 He meant that it would travel parallel to the chunk border and since it was 3 blocks wide it would always be in 2 chunks at once. (until the server restarted that is.)
