@@ufc990 The reason I ask is it seems as if geographically, although not temporally, they occupy(ied) the same space. Personally, my grandparents came from Europe, but not I live in US, so I understand migration. Or are Akkadians descendants of Sumerians?

@@tomnps1671 Sumeria is the name for the civilization/culture that thrived in Mesopotamia circa 4000-1500 BC. It wasn't one cohesive entity however, like the later greeks it consisted of many different city states vying for control. Akkad (as in the empire, not the city) was an empire that came to control several city states in Northern Mesopotamia from about 2300-2100 BC.
