    ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT DOCUMENTERY! I truly love knowing that there are still animals, reptiles, insects, etc. out there still undiscovered. Thank you for sharing this wonderful video and thank you for sharing the name of this beautiful, new species of snake.

    I have really enjoyed these two documentaries on the Lanceheads of Bolivia. Well done and thank you very much. How can we find a way to stop the indigenous people of Bolivia to stop killing these beautiful snakes.

    Was that a new species or sub species. Because all those snakes seem to be part of the lancehead family bothrops. Except the rattlesnake of course.

    Bothrops Monsignifer named after where it was found I guess mon=mountain & ignifer=fire = Mountain of Fire, and it was found in "Refugio los Volcanes" in Bolivia.

    ....soooo, earlier in the episode, they men had to be very careful at night so they wouldn't get lost. Could they not have called out to the workers to help them find their way back to camp? The palm workers are gone, and they are wandering around alone, not worried about getting lost. Of course the camera crew is there, so I guess they know their way around..... geez

    When they said Palm Forest I wonder if they are referring to a palm oil plantation or another species of palm growing in a natural Forest setting. Because either way it would be ideal for snakes. I heard the plantation owners that grow palm oil have a snakeskin side hustle from the type of environment they create is inviting to snakes

    I am certainly no snake expert, but the 'unknown to science' species they discovered certainly looks like or very similar to the Bothrops (Lancehead viper). I wonder how they determined that this is a new species and not a different color phase of the Lancehead?

  • @lissandrafreljord7913
    @lissandrafreljord79133 ай бұрын

    Anyone got an update what the name of the new species is? It looks like a bothrops. Edit: Nvm, the ending revealed it. Bothrops monsignifer.

    At minute 33:25 they Rattlesnakes “always rattle before biting a person.” This is utter nonsense. The fact is, Rattlesnakes only rattle about 50% of the time before they bite. We have lots of rattlesnakes in California. And I’ve lived around my whole life and they don’t always rattle, because they don’t always wanna give away their position. My father was bitten by a rattlesnake that didn’t rattle. A Great Documentary nonetheless.

    excuse me for not being scientific enough but am i right in saying those vipers bear a gross resemblance to the fer de lance in their body patterns?(except for the tropical rattler snake).
