He was married to Motown singer and collaborator Syreeta Wright from 1970 until their divorce in 1972. From 2001 to 2012, he was married to fashion designer Kai Millard. In 2017, he married 42-year-old Tomeeka Bracy. Does not read as very "peaceful", just improve the world but start with your own life first.......

I meant that the legacy that he created is inspirational, meaning that what he has stood for all his life has created something inspirational for all generations of African Americans. And that my friend has nothing to do with ego and everything to do with living a life of purpose. And that is from a person that lived his life and grew up in Detroit, whose family and relatives were connected to Stevie and his family.

I have been deeply touched and inspired by Stevie Wonder for nearly 50 years. Innervisions was the first album I bought, for myself (at the age of 13), and I lay on the living room floor and listened to it over and over again. It was the message my young, already scarred psyche needed. @rjnnc, while you grew up in Detroit, I am a white, somewhat-past-middle-age, woman who grew up in the suburb just next door in the sundown town of Dearborn. From a very young age (7) I was aware of and detested the overt racism of my childhood town, and the harassment, oppression, and inhumane treatment of our fellow African-American neighbors in nearby Detroit seemed like an outward extension of the inhumanity unfolding within my family. Stevie's message helped to sooth my bleeding heart by speaking of innervision and a higher ground. His message from this masterpiece album has been the guiding light for the work I do, and I how I try to live my life.

I have a similar experience. My parents bought me Stevie Wonder's "Songs In The Key Of Life" for Christmas when I was 14yrs old. It was the first album in my collection. I loved every song, and one of my favorite songs was "AS". The lyrics to that song are deep. All of Stevie Wonder's is Wonderful his music has thought provoking lyrics about life.

I'm 50 and while I was growing up in the 80's the theme was Unity and Love. We've lost all the greats who pushed that agenda and are now left with mostly evil individuals who are sowing division and hate instead. We need more people like Stevie who has a platform to start standing up and start bringing back Love and Unity!!!

Great to see him pontificate, basically like he wrote great uplifting lyrics his entire career. Growing up in Detroit, you couldn't escape his influence, musically, ethically or spiritually, a HERO.

Suddenly I remembered how I used to loop Innervisions and Hotter Than July as a child because it was the most amazing music I had ever heard outside of The Beatles! ❤ I am in complete shock that Stevie Wonder popped up suddenly on my feed! 😳 Literally 3 days after finding drawings of his puppy alter that I haven't seen in over 35 years! As President Trump always says, we must achieve "Peace Through Strength"! In this dangerous world, simply talking about a desire for peace and love isn't enough. The problem in our country right now is our very weak and incompetent leadership and a continuous demonstration of that weakness! This problem is already causing a chain reaction around the world! Weak leadership invites trouble! Most of these latest wars and threats have emerged within the last 3 years, if anyone hasn't noticed.

WWI was supposed to have been the "war to end all wars" but it was branded as one, so the directors obviously had sequels in mind. Whether it's called a war or a conflict or skirmish, oppression of people by force is not admirable.

Years ago, in the snow and cold we marched on Washington DC to make Martin Luther King's birthday a national holiday. It was like Stevie took thousands of minds a half mile from heaven. When he had finished his speech, it seemed as though we all fell back down to this cold, cold place called earth. When Stevie speaks, the world listens.
