The UNFILTERED Truth of Frequent Flyer Points in 2024
Almost everyone has come across Frequent Flyer Points / Miles but is the truth ever properly explained?
There are thousands of videos and articles online about how to redeem rewards points, how to earn frequent flyer miles, tips and point hacks but these loyalty programs are so complicated that it is almost impossible to get a good understanding of how it works. So this year, I am putting it all to the test.
This video is my results.

I hear that those who scroll up and hit the like button are earning loads of points, might want to give it a go 🤷♂️
Great break down of how these credit cards + “FREQUENT FLYER” point schemes can be a trap but also a huge asset when used correctly! Especially loved the 3 tips on how to get more points 👏

Great video, I like the humour flow through it.. Very informative and refreshing way of educating and clarifying common misconceptions of blindly hunting rewards points. Here the requested "Frequent Flyer" to boost your video on algorithm ;-)
Thanks for the video. Lots of things to think about.
The production of this video was fantastic. Learnt heaps, thank you!

Just got the commbank diamond card for 70k points with 5k spend in 3 months. Been double dipping this entire time, glad you mentioned it! Will be churning from now on once credit score builds

I really enjoyed this video about frequent flyer points and the strategies used to accumulate them. Going to watch your breakdown video next, love that double dip
Non frequent flyer 🛩 Thanks for going through the feasibility of earning points in an honest manner. Took a few moments to get your pun at the end

Thanks so much for commenting, Roja! I’m glad you appreciate my thoughts and hopefully my pun wasn’t too cheesy 😂
FREQUENT FLYER I just signed up and spent the minimum amount required. I use the 'Double dipping' suggestion you made to earn more points; thanks for the informative video. I was wondering if you could make a video on the extras that banks offer with credit cards, like complimentary lounge accesses; I am specifically interested to learn about the complimentary insurances they provide; they mention about the extended warranty, purchase protection insurance, etc. Not sure if they actually provide these or if it's just to attract customers and might have some terms and conditions that most of us don't go through.
This was very informative! I’m in the US, not AUS but I believe the overall concepts are the same. Thanks! 🎉

When is it worth it to sign up for these? I travel maybe 3 times a year on average but idk if that's enough?
I'm tempted to get an Amex but don't like the surcharges some places charge for using them. Still deciding whether to build on my 140000 velocity points or start building qantas
@ConnorandAlan

I get the hesitation and I had the same when I first signed up for my AMEX. However, since having it, most of my purchases (groceries & petrol) don't impose a surcharge and if I go to a business which imposed the surcharge, I just use one of my other cards 😁
You forgot to mention that some of these points expire, and others get massively devalued!

Easy ways to top your points up without even flying so they don’t expire .
The honesty of this guy is appreciated. There's no other youtuber confessing how they've earn points (I mean by refferals)
The end of September or beginning of October are the best time to sign up for bonus entry cards that require spending $4k in 3 months (or so) cause of spending for multiple holidays, but make sure you know the bonus doesn't expire before your spring/summer vacation.
What credit card gains you most point for velocity frequent Flyer? Not the Qantas one as already have a velocity frequent Flyer account is best to keep all points on one?
I appreciate your honesty.
🛩FREQUENT FLYER 🛩 Hey this is Caleb. I haven’t watched in a while but this was a really great video. You all have really improved the video quality. I specifically liked how what you were saying lined up with what Graham Stephan was saying, that was really well done! Also congrats Connor on getting married! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 it’s crazy how things can change in a few short years. (I started watching you all in 2020). All the best to you all.👍🏾

It definitely took A LOT longer to edit but so glad to see it is paying off. You noticed the Graham bit! I had the idea when I was scripting the video and didn’t know if it would turn out haha Thank you for the congratulations! Time really does fly, hope all is well with you 😁🙏🏼

American Express has charge cards. Which have no pre set spending limit, unlike credit cards. For example, if you pay for everything (literally everything) with an Amex platinum card (which you can), you will earn points which no matter how significant they weigh, since you aren’t limited by payment restrictions - it’s a no brainer

Wow! I haven't heard much about this but it sounds great!
Thank you!
Qantas frequent flyer points expire after a period of inactivity on the account. Using the credit card to monthly top up the account ensures the frequent flyer account is always active. Helpful to me as I have a lot of frequent flyer points.

currently researching which credit card to use to get FREQUENT FLYER points on my everyday expenses but struggling to figure out which reward program is best

In my experience, the right Frequent Flyer Program really depends on your needs. I would start by looking at what you would use the points for (i.e. domestic or international travel) and then look at exactly how the points are used for said benefit and analyse that way!
Hmm I see no problem using Amex and transfer all points to Qantas, plus Woolies and other purchases. Also business purchases too, you can add more to your bucket. Worked quite well for me.
That pool shot 😇 fantastic.
Great video! well now, i just need to find out how to accumulate Avios points for Qatar airways :)

The most effective way to save money is by being pragmatic or just diloyal. Do you genuinely believe that airlines prioritize your loyalty? Purchase the most affordable ticket available; this will yield savings in the long term.
I got the American Airlines aviator card and at the time I got it 15K of points got me a nation round trip. 2 years after getting the card I tried to cash in some of my 90K miles and was told a round trip is now 267K points. WTF? As soon as I find something better I’m cancelling this card. It feels completely like a scam.
Great info thanks but really annoying background music.
Cheers Connor! I think I'm gonna apply for the Qantas AMEX Discovery card, I was already looking at it as my #1 choice, then you said it haha. 🛩FREQUENT FLYER 🛩

Miles are only half the battle! Unless you are an: economy-only, care-free "anywhere available", and "anytime is OK" traveler - seats above economy are simply not available. I usually book a year in advance and its still hard. Our solution? Buy economy and try to upgrade with miles . Very hard, the seats are just not there in 2023. Remember, I am taking about premium economy and above. Any thoughts? Besides just fly economy 😜

I have the same issue. I don’t have the luxury of going on holidays when I like. My days are set up to 12 months in advance. I have yet to purchase any seat of value for long haul (preference) since starting this journey more than 4 years ago. However I have upgraded domestically which does make the short haul flights more enjoyable. Qantas have very limited reward sears available for when I can fly🤷♂️

This is become almost impossible , and if yes , become at ridicules high price that make the miles almost one penny per 5 miles.. I start giving up and look become the new scam Of course , since 90% of algorithms going to show you only videos that recommended by credits cards and airlines and their preferred content creators that pushing their agenda and want you to sign for new cc
🛩frequent flyer 🛩
I haven’t looked too much recently into CC churning. Have you considered a good ratio against Credit score depreciation? I found a lot of younger people neglect this score. Unless you know something I don’t. #ihopeso 👍
@Hamish_Davis

I am in no way an expert, but I will normally have at least 1 to 2 cards on the go at a time for CC churning I have found as long as I pay the cards off, in full, in time, and then cancel them once I get the bonus, there is not much change in my credit score, and in some cases it actually goes up! I imagine it is different for everyone as every person’s financial situation is different, but that’s just my experience, hope it helps 🙂
