The Unboxing and Use of the Leica M-A

A short video about my unboxing and use of the Leica M-A camera I just recently ordered and received from Leica, Miami.
It is the first video I have posted in a few years after I had decided to resurrect my channel and follow a new path. Forgive the mess, it is a work in progress with the intent of my channel being a well-oiled piece of thoughtful, entertaining, and educational machinery by the time I retire in a couple of years.
Please stay tune, visit once in a while, and make certain to subscribe.

Very nice overview and photos. I love that Leica are still making fully manual cameras such as the M-A. Now if only film prices would go back to what they were in the ‘50s!

Your M-A looks fantastic. I have an MP but still would love to have a M-A. My Leica M2 taught me how to shoot without a meter and it is quite freeing.

For sure, the Leica M2 is a wonderful camera to work with and dial in our exposure skills. And the M-A is a great little mechanical camera for the 21st century photographer. Love them both.

Thank you for a great review! I just bought an M-A myself for the same reasons, even after the new M6 was just announced. I prefer the more understated look, M3 styled rewind knurled knob, and brighter viewfinder because of the lack of a meter.

You've probably noticed that your M-A doesn't have a self-timer? Your M3 does! Right now, Thanksgiving, 2022, there's a shortage of Kodak Portra film. I love my M-A, but I don't understand why Leica didn't include a self-timer. I enjoyed your video, and I hope to hear more about your M-A and M3.

Thank you so much, and yes, when I purchased the M-A I knew it didn't have a self-timer. I don't really why Leica didn't include the timer on the M-A. More than likely to minimize design issues, machining issues, and costs for the customers. Happy Thanksgiving.

I was out using the cloud 8 rule today at 250 a second 👍 Trying to debate on the MA or MP. I think I would prefer no eletronics.

Thank you. The MA is a great camera. With no electronics it makes for fun using your knowledge in exposure setting.

If you don’t mind my asking, what’s the story on picture #2 in your intro? I fly 60s for a living and shoot Leica film cameras as a hobby, and I didn’t expect to see a pave hawk and was wondering what the overlap was!

Thanks for the comment. It was one of my favorite pictures when I created the intro at the time. I work next to the airport and every once in a while, military aircrafts come in. In the bottom right did you notice the young man hitting the car's roof top to avoid the rotor wash?

@@ChuckAbleshaha I do now. Reminds me of the clip of the 60’s downwash blowing away the stroller during that air show lol. Thankfully the baby wasn’t in there cause the downwash woulda took it too.
