This Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Edition Roadster is an exceptionally rare open-top supercar, boasting a completely unique specification, and remarkably low mileage. It has been cherished by just one private owner from new. Under the bonnet is a 5.4-litre supercharged V8, coupled to a five-speed automatic transmission with Touchshift control.
It is understood that just 25 examples of the SLR McLaren were converted by MSO to ‘Edition’ specification, and only six of those are believed to have been the Roadster model. Alongside the obvious aerodynamic bodywork modifications, eye-catching side-exhaust exhausts and revised interior, McLaren Special Operations (MSO) also fitted upgraded suspension, applied a custom engine tune, and modified the steering setup. This original UK-market car was originally delivered in Crystal Laurite Silver paintwork, with ‘Silver Arrow 300 SL’ red leather, and was handed over to its owner in September 2007 at the SLR Centre of Excellence at Mercedes-Benz Brooklands.
The car returned to McLaren in January 2009, when an agreement was signed to convert the car to the latest ‘McLaren Edition’ specification. This included a full repaint in Alabaster White, red enamel badges on both sides and the boot lid, red ‘tick’ wheel centres, the 722 Edition aerodynamic package, 722 tinted lights, and the 722S model alloy wheels. Inside, raised seat fronts were installed, a bespoke ‘McLaren Edition’ badge was applied to the radio cover, and carbon kick plates were fitted. Finally, a louder sports exhaust was installed, and the revised suspension settings were also requested.
In 2010, further upgrades were installed by MSO, which included the front wheel arch vents, carbon-fibre door mirrors, and repainted brake callipers in a vibrant red hue. The seats were re-trimmed to McLaren’s latest specifications, and a carbon-fibre steering wheel was also fitted. In total, the ‘McLaren Edition’ conversion works to this car came to £106,831. More recently, the car has been repainted once again, this time to lustrous grey hue. In the sunlight, this colour reflects specks of gold and reds, representing McLaren’s chosen colour for this Edition. A plaque mounted behind the gear lever denotes that this is ‘001’ of the limited run of just 25 SLRs converted by MSO.

I've liked the SLR ever since I saw Clarkson drive one to Oslo. What a wonderful noise. I find the SLR fits into that time where cars were beginning to take on the look they currently have, with insane amounts of power and driver aids but it's before the time of all the touchscreen displays.

Usually I'm no convertible fan - but this one looks quite perfect open & closed. The upgrade parts do provide an upgrade to the look of it, well done.

I really like the design language that has carried through too Mclaren today. That front lip/bumper looks almost exactly like the one you would find on a Mclaren 650S or 675LT. Its kinda cool how that entire design language starter all the way back when they were still with Mercedes and barely their own brand.

One SLR McLaren Edition, with orange/black livery, was sold at a 2015 RM Auction for $550,000. It was listed as having 552KW/750 PS and being one of six.

Sat in traffic with one of these next to me at brackley, towcester roundabout, egging the guy to hit the loud pedal, he eventually did pulling away at the roundabout. Wow it sounds like thunder and having checked my mirror he was gone. the smile on my face went from ear to ear.

Every time Mclaren does a colab with another car industry, you know it’s gonna be brutal.
Such an amazing car and so beautifully done.
Whatta car!!! That's the modern classic I'd absolutely buy! The design is so timeless! And what a soundtrack! Wow! You don't really need all the touchscreens, just pure driving experience, and those nearly 700hp are more than enough!;)
Would never ever consider driving this beauty in inclement weather! I guess owner thinks having it in this channel will help selling price.

Cool I didn't know about this version. Someone who used to live on my street had a Roadster and I saw a 722 at the track last year for an IMSA race. Cool tire slaying machine. Also, fun fact you can take this to your local British car meet and your local German car meet.

And now 16 years later being 34 I feel like that future might never come and I have settled for 2010 Aston Martin DB9 instead. I am not closing door on you, and my heart still for you. That day might still come when I’ll hold you in my arms, my one and only 722s SLR.

If it's any of the 3500 from 03-07 Mercedes-benz SLR McLarens, then I definitely heard of it, and it's been my favorite car for over a decade. I dream of owning one someday
