Hey all, this vid was filmed before everything happened with my stepdad so I thought I should go ahead and post it- I’m VERY curious to know if you agree with my opinions on these veggie burgers bc I know I can’t be the only vegan who didn’t like veggie burgers (spoiler alert: I do now!) PS: did you know the quinoa cowboy wasn’t vegan???? I will be posting a video talking about my experience with Bob’s disappearance because I learned so much throughout that process and I can only hope it might give others in a similar position more clarity or comfort. I think it depends on the veggie burger but honestly it's never something I would buy for myself with all the better options out there. If it was put in front of me I would eat it and probably enjoy it. Sorry to hear about your step-dad. Sending you strength ❤️❤️❤️❤️

You should do a vegan sausage taste test next! Hillary’s also makes vegan sausage patties - they’re not imitation meat, they’re similar in texture/vibe to the veggie burgers, and they’re really good!

How about vegan ground meat substitutes? As a meat eater, I actually found the Lightlife Mexican seasoned ground plant-based crumbles to be pretty good. I worked a vegan coworker and I decided it would be cool to do a taco bar. Unbeknownst the rest of the staff, I actually made everything vegan, just to test the rest of us on our biases regarding vegan food. I used the Lightlife Mexican seasoned ground crumbles, Daiya vegan shredded cheese, and good karma sour cream. Only one person claimed to know the products were vegan, but I don't believe him. I did pull my coworker aside and tell her because she arrived a little bit late and saw all of the food and was disappointed thinking she could only eat the salsa and tortilla chips. She it was the first time she felt completely included in a staff meal. Everyone liked everything except the sour cream. The sour cream was hit or miss with people. I'm more open to vegan food now and there are some I actually like. I haven't found a vegan bacon that actually tastes good.

@@valentinaliu6303 I love food and cooking for people and it makes me sad when people don’t feel included and stuck trying to figure it out or not being able eat anything. Whether you’re vegan, don’t eat pork, don’t eat shellfish, gluten intolerant, etc., you should still be able enjoy the meal like everyone else.

well they do have those dried pea protein crumbles these days. I used to like the beyond beef ones - they were great in my stroganoff on my personal website. I too harness good karma sour cream - it's the best!

Mushroom risotto is quite possibly my favorite! Have so many good memories of it and adding my kale, onion and serrano slaw to it. Gotta try the other Praeger flavors.

I adore the Vegetable Masala burger from Trader Joe's and I'm happy it made it to the A category! It's nice to know that there is an affordable and delicious veggie burger out there. Looking forward to more vegan ranking videos! Also: my condolences, I'm sorry for the loss of your stepfather. Saying goodbye is never easy, and I wish you and your family every strength in your recovery going forwards.

I used to love veggie burgers starting off as a vegetarian 8 years ago. I just hate how salty they are. I now rarely buy veggies burgers. Love the video. Maybe I’ll give these veggies burgers a try

I just found your ranking videos last week. Then I read about your step dad, sorry for your loss. I am not vegan but I am allergic to dairy so I end up buying many vegan processed foods. I like the Dr. Pragers California Burgers but now I want to try the mushroom risotto burger. I think you shouldn't include the health factor in the ranking because these are processed foods that we eat because of the convenience not because of the health factor, that is just my opinion though, do with that what you want.

First off I just wanted to say I’m sorry about everything you and your family had to deal with for the past week or so and I just want to send you and your family all the love I can spare. As far as veggie burgers go, for me it’s the texture that I’m not always a fan of. I’m starting to cut down on my meat intake for both health and environmental concerns which is why I started watching you and sauce Stache and actually I really love his veggie burger alternatives. I’m the type who would rather go through the effort to make a ton of veggie burger Patties that are to my liking and then freeze them so that I have them on hand when I’m in the mood for a veggie burger.

Don Lee farms organic superfood veggie (vegan) burgers are fantastic, highly recommended! You can usually find them, or that brand in general at Costco, depending on which individual store has them in stock.

I think you should use price and health only when taste is comparable! If two taste the same, maybe the cheaper/healthier one wins. But taste first and foremost.

Again, I’m surprised by the lack of Morningstar Farms, given how commonly found it is, at least in the Midwest. Is it not going outside of the Midwest?

Dr. Praeger’s in the air fryer is probably my favorite thing on the planet. Any of them. 😻

The thing about veggie burgers(which you were totally right to separate from stuff like Beyond because they're so nutritionally different) is that they can never count as the protein portion of a meal. They can be a nice side to something more nutritious, though; that mushroom risotto burger pairs well with Just Egg and some veggies. I almost never buy any veggie burgers because I like the convenience of having a Beyond Burger (no bun) with a whole bunch of veggies and it's a complete, healthy meal that's high enough in protein to keep me feeling good.

LOL Also I don't really like veggie burgers as well, but I have to say that bean burgers are so good, especially hand made, the best I've ever had was in Glasgow. Unfortunately they don’t have the mushroom risotto anywhere close to me! They sound so good.

I don’t like veggie burgers either but I still try them. lol Honestly what I end up doing with veggie patties is salting them and then frying them like they’re hash brown patties and eating them without a bun. That’s how I enjoy them. Hillary’s disappointed me because they were incredibly expensive (at the time 3-4 years ago they were like 8 bucks for two veggie patties, same price for 4 sausage patties) and they were overall bad. But I might try the cauliflower one. Same with Dr. Prager’s. Though, I did have a Prager burger at a Denny’s once in like 2016 that was surprisingly good. I’m here for that mushroom risotto patty. Aldi’s had one like that iirc and I loved eating that thing. Fry it and just eat it plain like a snack. (idc if it will hurt me, I want it) Can’t eat Quorn, it makes me violently sick. Never heard of Strong Roots but that doesn’t look appetizing at all. Foodies looks meh too. Oh yeah, on TJs, so many people recommend non-vegan TJ food as vegan, it’s kinda wild. I forgot to mention in my other comment but yeah, at least 6 of the things I bought from TJ that people were saying were vegan were not so…TJ staying in the nty pile for me. 10/10 song break! Amy’s burgers are bleh and I get a serious headache trying to find their vegan products so I just do not even bother. Made too many mistakes when I first went vegan with them. Well, other than the new cheddar broccoli mac. It has distinct packaging and it’s awesome. The only other veggie burger I can recall trying is Aldi’s brand and they’re like soggy and wet and weird mosty.

The thing about burgers like Hilary's, though, is that the protein content is low. The Hilary's cauliflower one is not bad protein-wise.

Merle I love your videos and you actually inspire me to try vegan food and to be honest I love it( not going 100% vegan just every now and again) by the way I feel sorry that you're going through this hard time and just want to let you know it's going to get better

Merle, you seem to really struggle sometimes with your rankings 😂😂 I recommend you pick a few categories to base your ratings off of and forget about everything else. For example, 1) flavor, 2) price, and 3) nutritional content/healthiness. I feel like that would help you come to a decision more easily with some of these.

Dr P’s California burger was my first ever veggie burger. WAY before I went vegan. Flavor is great but the texture is mushy. Nervous to see what u think 👀😂

Cranberry beans are like a sturdier pinto with a strong earthy flavor and an aroma like dunkin donuts coffee. 100% my favorite bean.

My favorite is MorningStar Farms black bean burgers those slap so good Add a little chipotle ranch a little lettuce on a hamburger bun I am not vegan by the way but I’m sure that they have chipotle ranch that’s vegan and it’s delicious
