So why didn't the C10 sensor on your 5i work correctly and register your shot? That's exactly what I would expect the C10s to fix.
Enjoyable and informative video as usual. You don’t have to go into Play Golf to add the sensors. You can press the middle button and go directly into “Settings.” Then scroll to the bottom for “Sensors.”

Nice review. Btw, the black tool included with the kit is for replacing the sensors battery, not for screwing the sensors.
Great video. I did the upgrade. Had to change 10 batteries out of the 24 sensors 😮. But not it works perfectly and I love the experience. Almost feels strange to not have to type in which club was used 😂

I wonder if the box sat in inventory for a long time somewhere, where did you buy from?
I have used Arccos, Shot Scope X5, and Garmin, all with their various sensors. Overall, I prefer Garmin with the CT 10 for my wedges and putter only. I find the Garmin sensors to stay in the clubs the best and I appreciate how easy it is to change the batteries. After putting all new CR2302 batteries in my CT 10 sensors, they have lasted for years. Although the graphics and data in the Garmin, connect website are not as robust as Arcos and Shotscope, the Garman data is good enough for me. I know my club lengths and my shortcomings. I do not need the extreme level of detail and shots gained analysis that the other systems provide especially at $150/yr for Arccos. Plus the Garmin watches are the best by far compared to Shotscope v3 and X5. . So, taking everything into account, I really like the Garmin ecosystem. It’s easy, no subscription, and great watches I can wear off the course.

I've recently switched to the S70 Garmin vs the X5 Shot Scope package. Deciding on whether to get the CT10 sensors as there is a lot of posts about them breaking or not working right. Never really had issues with the X5 and the sensors... but also couldn't get the level of data the Garmin S70 gives me. I too gained enough knowledge from the Shot Scope platform where i don't need that much detail moving forward. Should i just stick with the tracking in the watch (meaning everything is great except around the green) or invest in the CT10 sensors. Since you're on a similar journey I'd love your thoughts.

Awesome video good golfing bud
Gabe. Thanks for the video. I am getting a set of CT10s to try. My main reason is that the watch does not track my shots off the tee. You seem to have a good experience with the S70. Do you take a hard practice swing before you hit your shots? Maybe you need to "activate" the accelerometer to get it to register the real swing. Thoughts? Thanks.
I have the CT10's paired with my S60. And using them has been seemless, very easy to setup and I dont think its ever missed a shot. Only things to be mindfull of would be to make sure its registerd the correct club if you take more than one out the bag for example when you're unsure of a shot and you've not brought your bag (on cart or trolley etc) to your ball but just a selection of clubs. Also, my stand bag is a pretty small and light one which is great for carrying but is a bit of a tight fit on a full set of clubs and in the process of a kind of rushed round I had two sensors fall/got pulled out of the club grip and actually lost one and almost lost a second. eBay spares here I come.

I have used Arccos and now the CT10s and after losing one of the Arccos sensors I just put black electrical tape around the grip and sensor. It hides the white plastic and doesn't affect the shot detection. No sensor has even come loose since. I hope this helps.
I have the S62 and 3 CT10 Sensors. It's not too bad, what drives me nuts is the watch and sensors will sense a practice swing on occassion which it then starts measuring the distance. I then have to correct it in app after my round. Also, do I have to detect the pin placement in watch in order for it to get an accurate distance measurement on my approaches? Sometimes I find the app over/under reads that yardage based on what I am assuming is the default pin placement on a given green. What I enjoy about the app is it will compare your stats to others in your handicap range and you get course statistics which is nice if you play a course multiple times. One feature request I would like is being able to upload your scores/stats to GHIN.
When viewing the scorecard rotate your phone to see additional info such as GIR, FIR. Also use the web interface to see even more info on your round.
I really want to have something like arccos or the CT10 sensors with my Garmin watch but from many other reviews they just miss too many shots and for the price it’s not worth me going back trying to remember what shot I hit with each club to correct it
Would you prefer this golf watch or the usga app with built in gps?
Hello Gabe, loved the video! What is the name of your follow me bag cart? I’ve been thinking of purchasing one of those. Have you done a review on it yet? Thanks for the info.
@LetsPlayThru
11 ай бұрын
Thanks. The cart is called a Stewart Golf Q Follow. Did a video on it about 1.5 years ago now.
I have had these and I have 2 problems with them. Firstly, they do fall out. I ended up constantly worrying if they were still on the club. Not what you need when you are trying to concentrate on all the other aspects of playing golf! Secondly, they are far too expensive for what they are. Garmin need to look at the Shotscope example and come up with something similar, especially when you are paying a premium price for the watch.
Can you mark where a ball went OB? I'm asking because it would suck if the smart caddy didn't factor OB shots into your shot history with that club (i.e., it would think you were more accurate than you are).
Its been a while since you reviewed these sensors. I'd be interested in a follow up review of the CT10 sensors durability and your experience with app long term. Seriously looking at these sensors as well as Arrcos and I'm curious about your thoughts on that as well. Thanks as always for the great content.

I've not used arcos but have exprience with the shot scope app paired with sensors vs my Garmin S60 Watch with 14 CT10 Sensors and I just hated having a phone out on the course. Where do you put it when you take a swing but still have it availble for distances? Garmin S60 has been a no brainer. It can be a litttle akward having a big watch on your wrist (Depending on how big your wrists are) but honestly theres so much info and tracking you gain it's been fantastic.

Thank you one last question I have 3 wedges Pw mizuno match my irons a vokey 53 and 59 degree can it match what I have on the watch I appreciate your help thank you ian
The only issue i see is if there are counterbalance weights in your clubs there wouldnt be enough roon to screw the sensors into the grip. A superstroke putter grip would also not allow the use of these sensors. I would like to use them with my s62 but it doesnt seem possible.
Played around 6 or 7 rounds with my s70 and it's never missed a shot.
I find the sensors overall fantastic. Not having to tell your watch what club you’ve hit is huge. Makes the after round data seamless. I have lost one sensor over about 3 years - however it was from my 5W which has a different grip (Pure) to the rest of my clubs (Larkin & Golf Pride). In the Pure grip it is definitely a lot looser, so I don’t really blame Garmin for that. So now I just check the tags before each shot as I take the club out of my bag. It has just become an automatic thing, I don’t even think about it. The tags could have a lower profile - they are thicker than some, but you don’t grip them so it doesn’t really matter. The stats could definitely be better in the Garmin Golf app, but it does have a type of strokes gained relative to your handicap (not to Pros)
@LetsPlayThru

Glad to hear your experience has been positive. It does really free up some mental space for me too. I should have done it a long time ago.
The Garmin stats do show much more detail than you show. It was Avg Strokes Gained, Handicap, average putts per round, details of the distance and location of all drives and where they were on the fairway, and many more including approach, Chip and Putt stats.
I don't mind the CT10's they are similar to the Arcoss Sensors. I had issues with my putter and modifying the grip to work, but other than that, they are fine. It really depends on the grips you are using. I do like how it streamlines the watch, I have not had problems with them falling off, I do have to tighten them up slightly time to time.

@@PJo336 Yeah, i had to get creative as well.
I sometimes use my Garmin Fenix 5 for golf. I generally don't like to wear a watch when swinging a club. So the watch, as beautiful as it is, isn't very practical for me. I wish I could get used to it, because I really like what it does and how it looks
Iv just got this and played one round with it and it doesn’t slow you down if you check it while you walk up to your ball
I’m not sure if you mentioned it but I assume each sensor has a CR type battery in them? Also, what happens if you hit a shot then drop another ball or two to practice from that same spot. I’m sure it will register those as shots? Then you’d manually have to delete them?
@LetsPlayThru
11 ай бұрын
It should just count it as one shot. It’s more about the location than anything.
@SmokyFrosty
10 ай бұрын
If the watch think you've 'moved' then annoyingly yes, you have to delete them after your round, but also make sure your score at the end of the hole is correct. This can also happen with practice swings (at least on my S60, which i think is a bit less accurate for shot detection)
What happens when you have to grab 2 or 3 clubs to take from the cart to a ball location by the green? Does it know which club only when it’s swung or when you grab it? Have a S70 coming and will most likely add the sensors.
@LetsPlayThru
10 ай бұрын
The sensor needs to be fairly close to the watch. So what I did was grab them by the neck near the clubhead (which is the easiest way for me to carry anyway) And I didn’t have any problems. But I think it is pretty responsive and picking the club that is currently in your hands.
I have Garmin S62 and arccos sensors. Garmin sensors miss too many shots for my liking. I have accros belt clip and only use the data for areas of improvement after the round. And i use the S62 during the round for distance and direction management.
Me and my friend went halves on a pack of 14 and put them on the clubs I hit the most
Good morning. I just purchased the Approach 70 and the Sensors. From what I understand, you need to play a few rounds for the watch to be able to suggest which club to use, how far you hit each club, etc. My question is, when playing those first few rounds and afterwards, do I need to go directly to my ball after I hit it, or can I help a friend find his ball first, if we are driving in a cart and I drop him off at his ball, will that mess up calculations?

How is it that you enter your score on a hole and the app thinks you had a 400+ yard drive. Sounds like they need to step up their development game. That really turns me off for this product, all that effort and you still need to go in and fix the shots and distances.
There is far more data to be found. i found mine in scorecard with red box next to name and score. that has strokes overview with details about tee, approach, chip & putt. there is recoveries & rankings based on shots gained, but you cant see it. i think editing the data after the round is terrible & i ended up giving up

Yes that screen is helpful, but I’d still like it to be a little more robust. Arccos and ShotScope both go into quite a bit more detail, benchmarking, trends, etc.
Don't tempt me with this stuff. I'm already in hot water with the wife over non golf related stuff. The putter cover looks promising though and I would like a new custom one for my Mizuno.
No point on using CT10 if you are not going to tracks putts and short wedge shots. I've used Garmin watches with golf for 6 years and it tracks 95% accurately full and outside 30 yards. No subscription necessary. You can input into the watch what club you are hitting prior to taking a shot, or I prefer reviewing my swings after the round to specify the clubs. This video completely missed the mark with the real benefit of using the CT10 sensors which is using then with putter and chip shots around the green.
I didn’t think you needed the sensors with the s70.
@LetsPlayThru

You don’t have to have them, but it makes life a lot easier
I have been playing with garmin watches for 15 years. They are the best imho. However the reporting analysis is the worst. They have all the data captured as you can see in the watches. They are light years behind Shotscope and Arcoss. To be fair to the review you should mention the CT10s come at a cost of $300. So if you pair that with a new S70 your over 1K! Even with the Arcoss subscription that’s pretty steep.
The Garmin S70 is a nice golf watch but there isn’t anything special about it. It has a lot of wow features but after several rounds of use, I don’t use any of the features other than distance to hazards and the green. The virtual caddie is a complete joke and the wind adjustment is questionable at best. It’s hard to recommend this golf watch to anyone at its current price point. Garmin should include the green contour feature that currently has an annual fee of $100 which is not worth it. The green contour feature should be included with the watch or $25 annually.
sad they are a bit heffty of a price for me at least also wish the s70 wasnt that price its a lot
These buttons can be smaller and need a physical redesign- it’s been like 5 years and no upgrade is laughable.
The watch is great, software is ok, the CT10's are hot garbage. They work well, but fail to stay on the clubs. The CT10's constantly remind you to tighten them or look for them after your shot, which is a major distraction and annoyance. The significantly less expensive ShotScope line of watches and sensors is a superior golf product and experience. The ShotScope sensors never fall off, therefore you never think of them. FWIW, I own both and the sensors is a major fail for Garmin.
