We start with the lower decks and work our way to the top. The Sapphire Princess is one of our favorite cruise ships. The layout is not as straight forward as some that we’ve been on, but that is part of the fun! We take you on a thorough tour of the Sapphire Princess, exploring every nook and cranny.
Starting on Deck 5, the Plaza Deck, we find the International Cafe, Good Spirits Bar, Alfredo’s Pizza, and the Ocean Terrace all centered around the piazza, the mingling hub of the ship. The Art Gallery connects the midship area to the staterooms in the forward section. And in the aft of the ship, there are two main dining rooms, the Vivaldi and the Savoy Dining Rooms.
On Deck 6, the Fiesta Deck, we have three more dining rooms: the Santa Fe, the Pacific Moon, and the International Dining Rooms. The Fiesta Deck is also where you will find Guest Services; the Grand Casino; the Shore Excursions, Future Cruise Planning, and Captain’s Circle Desks; the library; and Churchill’s Cigar Lounge. The Princess Theater at the forward end of the ship takes up both Deck 6 and 7.
In addition to the Princess Theater, Deck 7, the Promenade Deck, has the Wheelhouse Bar, the Explorer’s Lounge, Crooner’s Bar, Club Fusion, the Internet Cafe, Sabatini’s, the photo gallery, and a variety of shops.
Decks 8 thru 12 are full of staterooms. Princess Cruise Lines offers a wide range of luxurious cabins and suites for cruisers.
Starting with Deck 14, the Lido Deck, we have reached the upper decks which are open to the air and sun. Decks 14 - 19 connect through various staircases and elevators. Deck 14 is the highest deck that goes straight from forward to aft end of the ship. There are several places to eat here, including the Horizon Court Buffet, the Trident Grill, and Prego’s Pizzeria. The upper decks have a total of two large swimming pools, the Calypso Reef, Neptune’s Reef; three smaller pools, the Lotus Pool, Terrace Pool, and Splash Pool; and eight hot tubs. You will be able to enjoy all of your favorite water activites on the Sapphire Princess! The upper decks also have a Conservatory with ping pong and foosball, a Sports Deck with pickleball and basketball, a Youth Center with plenty of fun guided activities for kids, a fitness center and spa, and an outdoor movie screen. The Sanctuary, an area reserved for elite guests, is at the forward end of the ship. And in the aft of the ship, there is Princess Cruise Lines’ signature Skywalkers’ Night Club.
