    Summary: - Left, you need to be more attacking, aggressive, and look to try and win the point. - Right, you need to be more consistent, more solid, set the point up for the player on the left. - Left handed players should be on the right. - Players on the left can come over to the right side to take more of the overheads and attacking shots. - Don't switch on the serve, practise your own side the whole match! - Learn both sides, but try to master one. - Use more attacking, diamond and teardrop rackets on the left - everythingpadel.co.uk/padel-rackets/ - Use more control based, comfortable rackets for the right - everythingpadel.co.uk/padel-rackets/ - Try to find a partner that fits your style! If you are attacking, find a solid consistent partner, if you are solid and consistent, find an attacking partner! - 2 dominant players can work, but can also be a recipe for disaster. What do you guys think?

    Awesome video Ewan! It made be realize again (after playing padel for 4 years) that this is so important during a match. By applying the principles you mention in this video my partner & I played very proper padel and won our matches during our tournament yesterday :) Your other videos (about communication and mindset, tips to win matches etc...) also helped a lot past week (for our tournament) ! Keep up the good work Ewan!

    It's very important to learn both sides. I don't think you should lock yourself into one or the other until you've come quite far in your padel journey. I've seen complete beginners say they can only play one side.

    Another excellent video Ewan. Clear and concise. I especially like the phrase "proper padel". 😀 I played exclusively on the left for several years but changed to the right after a 3 month injury lay off and found that side suits me much better...... especially when playing with fit youngsters like you !🤣

    You need to try both sides, no matter if you think you're the consistent or the aggressive. I played on the right for the first year. One day a more experienced guy suggested that we switch sides. Oh boy. The left side was so much more natural. Everything was easier, not just finishing the points. Everything. Resting the serve, throwing lobs, bandejas, volleys, bajadas... everything. We still switch sides during the serve in about half our games, I think is good practice to keep the knowledge fresh. If eventually I have to play with a really good left side partner, I switch to the right. But I suck there :) Cheers!

    Would like to add that the diamond/teardrop rackets are more difficult to play with. So if youre a beginner, regardless of your side on the court. It would be best to learn the game with a round(the easiest) racket. Can always get a relatively cheap one and upgrade once you get better

    Hi!!! What if I’m a consistent player, playing with more control and my partner is left handed and dominant. Is it going to work if I play on the left side but with a “right player style” ?

  • @AA-pi2dz

    I play left, my partner right and are solid on medium pace volleys, struggles a little with reading lobs whether to play them in the air off off the back or side wall as a lob or boast - the 'fridge.'. I'm across and take the shot to help them, do I stay on that side, return immediately to my side, or swop for that point. I usually do the latter, chance was we would have lost the point with the lob, moving allows me to help us stay in the point and compete.

  • @EverythingPadel

    @EverythingPadel

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks for sharing - ideally your partner improves that part of their game because you want them to take their own lobs, so that you do not have to come too far out of position. It is probably best, that if you come right across on to their side, that you then swap, and then after that point, play a bit lob, to give yourself time to switch back.

    I’m thinking of going serious in Padel practice, coming from tennis, but I’m left with a small concern after your video… I’m a lefty, dominant type of player, but if I went with your ideal setup of side+teammate, I shouldn’t be playing on the left side because of the forehand issues in the middle balls. Any way to work around that?

  • @sergioneuman

    @sergioneuman

    I’m a complete newbie, I don’t know much about padel yet, but your concern got me thinking… I don’t think there would be anything wrong with switching it up, you could attack from the right and have your partner defend/set up the point from the left. It might be worth a try 🤷🏻‍♂️
