Lightwater valley is done at this point. The Brighton pier group really killed this park.

Absolutely disgusted in how Brighton Pier Group have treated the Ultimate they don't care all about scrap metal cash coming in from it hopefully they may sell some parts to the enthusiasts such a shame the UK's longest coaster record holder had been treated like this

Only rode it once but it was the highlight of the park by far - so sad to see it in this state. Great job on documenting its life, old age and now death though - thanks Darren.

This is a very sad piece of history and I agree with some of the other comments that this park won't be around for many more years. I was lucky enough to go on the ride and I much preferred the 2nd half of the ride.

This will be the next UK theme park or whatever it is these days to close down!

Literally tearing people’s enjoyment and memories down. Consigned to the scrap heap with one shove 😢

As a lifelong rollercoaster nerd, the image at 0:57 almost put a tear in my eye, well maybe not a tear but it's sad to see any coaster pulled down. Darren, your drone shots are really coming along, great job.

The level of stupidity involved here, in destroying a perfectly good rollercoaster, is simply off the scale! Why couldn’t it have been improved? To destroy something like this is an unmitigated act of vandalism!

There's no cash available. Sadly the management of the park ruined the park by not following up with decent support rides to complement the Ultimate. Then you're in a position where you have a star attraction and not much else. Totally mis-managed and they've ruined this park.

Disgusting how they've treated the whole park let alone The Ultimate. Seems to be going the way of American Adventure, Loudoun Castle and Pleasure Island to name a few.

This is heartbreaking. They have shown so much disrespect for this once record breaking and unique peice of history. They just quietly dismantling of her without ceremony or acknowledgment. No selling parts to enthusiasts. This park has lost the heart and soul. It will never be the same again.

The Beginning Of The End For This Place Give It A Year Or 2 Darren And You Will Be Making A Video Similar To The Camelot One You Made.

Think the owners have made a big mistake taking this ride down. Light water valley will never be the same. It was the ultimate what got the guest through the gates. I for 1 will never go to this theme park again.

I bet it was fun to watch when it fell down./ I'd half expected a shot of you standing in the middle of the downed lift hill Buster Keaton style.

Hope you are ok Darren. I live just down the road from this and fear Ripon's iconic history is disappearing, but thanks to you the ultimate story is now immortalised. Thanks again for showing how a documentary should be made, pictures say a thousand words.

Could we see Lightwater Valley closed by next year ? I can see it. The only way they could get back from this is is they built a massive new thrilling rollercoaster to replace this with like the UKs first RMC or something like that that’s the only way this park has a chance to survive.

Lightwater Valley hasn’t attempted anything like a world record ever since. Plus the new management aims to make it more family oriented. If anything, the park will likely go downhill in the next year or so.

Having ridden this on a school trip when it was new, it’s a sad site to see! I’d have been about 14 then… this and the Rat were my favourites 😂

This was the first rollercoaster I ever rode on, It's sad to see it go

I only ever rode this once, but loved it. Such a unique ride. Sadly this park seems to be going the same route as American Adventure and Camelot and for the same reason.

From all it's maintenance including its recent re-tracking. Same as the Big Dipper (1923).

Its so sad to see, seems a desperate rush to get rid of the viasble bits before the park re-opens, wonder how long the rest of the track will remian after.

If there's scrap value, probably not long. But they won't be in a rush out of view as you say.

Can't see a long term future unfortunately for this park now .

Such a bloody shame. Fond memories of that crazy ride. My youngest boys should be able to experience it. Why as time moves on is the country becoming a worse place to live. Places closing etc. bring back 20 years ago

I wish I had been there when it was open, so sad to lose more history. These theme parks seem to be a dying breed.

This video literally made me emotional. The Ultimate was my first ever roller coaster. LWV is going to end up exactly like Camelot.

This is like watching an old friend being slowly murdered! Cant see the park ever recovering from this

Very sad seeing this. Just another childhood memory gone along with Camelot and American Adventure.

I will NEVER come back to light water valley now! This was the main reason why I went. Light water valley is over at this point. Rip the ultimate ❤️💙

Another brilliant but upsetting video Darren, the second lift Hill won't be that long before that's on its side, as for the rest of the track that's easy, I suspect that the first lift Hill will take a while especially if they are removing it peace by peace, all that metal looks in pretty good nick tbh and the wood doesn't look half bad either! Hopefully they'll save the wooden sleepers.

It's all downhill from now. Great video Darren.

Sad times. It was a great coaster and pretty much the best thing there. I always thought the rest of light water valley was a bit rubbish.

Absolutely gutted they've destroyed this park alot of people won't go now. I see it closing in a few years. Or at least I hope so for ruining the ULTIMATE & RAPTOR ATTACK.

Horrible what they’ve done a showpiece attraction they had the lift hills they could have adapted and RMCd it. I don’t see any ambition in this park anymore such a missed opportunity.

Just a reminder to park owners, if you care about your park's future and want it to continue after you sell it, make sure you sell it to the right people and put deed restrictions on the land.

how sad to see the roller coaster laid there like a slayed dragon having its bones picked over ,the music gave a tragic edge to the video ,very sad after serving all the thrill seekers for years to end up like this end of an era . while im here did LWV once house the supa looper coaster ?

Yes it did have the soopa loopa. Just in the trees behind the ultimates last turn to the station.

A great video Darren, but it's sad to see this rollercoaster taken down, especially when the metal work seems to be in good order. Sacrilege, nothing short of it!

Excellent footage and vlog. An all round panoramic view. Sad to see these go. I'm guessing it won't be long before they pull the next part down either. Any ideas if they are going to replace it with another ride...? Did you manage to get hold of part of the structural parts....?

I’m DEVASTATED watching this 😭

Genuinely really saddened to see this 😢. The Ultimate was one of only very few rollercoasters I’ve ever ridden and the thrill of the ride was so amazing we rode it more than once. An absolute travesty that they’re unceremoniously ripping this one time world record breaker down 😔

Extremely unlikely. BPG know the price of everything and the value of nothing and have an endgame. I give it a few years tops now if even that sadly.

It would be far better left even if to fall I to disrepair, they do it with grade 2 listed buildings and even then there amazing to see in most cases

Was the longest coaster in the world for a while then Europe for a long time 1 Mile and a half of track was the longest in the UK to this day

I never went on this yet but bet it was a brilliant coaster! Really well put together video Darren, the music also makes it that much more poignant too.

I'm loving these updates but it's so sad at the same time. Can't understand how the Big Dipper is turning 100 this year and yet Lightwater Valley have got rid of this bad boy after only 30 years.

The park reopens for the 2023 season this weekend. I’d imagine the second lift hill will be pulled down some point next week?

Depends on how quickly they can remove those things at the bottom and then pull it down, it might be pulled down the week after, likely to be done in 2 half's as its a curved bit of track

Yes it was uncomfortable, however this was built by British Rail! The station is apparently being turned in a cafe etc The train cars have also been told on now (no longer in rat building)

Yes, back when we had dreams. I think I was only aware of this coaster around 1990 due to a feature on the Radio One breakfast show. They appealed for listener suggestions to name this, then new beast. No internet back then! It was also featured on an old ITV hospital documentary called Jimmy's, based in Leeds from memory. Total travesty now really; it wasn't really what I'd call a true coaster but the views and location were unique. 😢

So sad. love the fact you still call the rat building the rat building haha the ride will always be the rat to me.

I can tell people this while brighton pier group own lightwater valley i will never be going thier again they not getting any of my money cause of this they should have repaired the ultimate 😤 could have put new theming and lights and stuff in the tunnels or just back original revamp/redo the track and hills a bit like blackpool do with rides but na all demolished and for scrap shows you how much they care

What are they putting there instead, guessing it was to expensive to maintain.

Have you read the Brighton Pier Group company description and business aim for the future , complete rubbish , there won’t be a light water valley now they have control of it.

In my imagination 💭, ‘Lightwater Valley’ is in *Scotland* 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, not *England* 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. It’s in Ayrshire, Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 instead of Yorkshire, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. There, *”The Ultimate”* is _HERE TO STAY!!!_ First ScotRail [instead of British Rail] did the construction 🚧 of that ride 🎢 instead.

Should have been saved, your history gone in a blink of the eye.🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
