As someone else said, he is wise beyond his years. I wish him good health and success in his future and hope his success doesn't change the person he is in this interview. This interview exposes REN as someone who is truly unique and complex. Normally, genius and intellectual persons are kinda cold and impersonal, where creatives and social butterflies are warm and friendly but tend to be less analytical. REN is all of those things. I honestly believe I could get shipwrecked on an island for 20 years, come back, and Ren will still be sitting here, looking as average as ever, talking about how he can't believe how big his newest thing is blowing up. That level of humility and seeing the World through the lens of what can I do for others is absolutely inspiring and gives this old fart a sense of hope for the future. On the AI art topic, AI will always try to perfect what it's doing. Better, faster, more efficient. Humans will never be that. It's not what we are. I hope AI ends up pushing society to actually recognize and celebrate our flaws. The very things that make us human.

This could have been written by me. I feel the exact same way. The reactions to hi Ren are so eye opening. Watching the rollercoaster as they start out super confused then it transitions into impressed but not able to really vocalize why and quickly transitions into the moment of realization as to what it is Ren is saying and how they can relate. Then there's the silence, laughter, and a completely visceral soul crushing break that shows the real humility of the reactors. I feel like this is the moment we get to see passed their public "mask" that they wear. Followed by a huge sigh. Another laugh, and finished with a speechless appreciation just knowing that there is at least one other person who knows what they are battling and they aren't dancing alone. Ren is what a lot of us needed and he couldn't have gone viral at a better time. I'm glad to say I was one of the first 50k views and have been consistently sharing Ren's music with practically everyone I come into contact with. The #RENaissance is happening!

I am a pen & ink artist and now, 65 years old. I truly understand REN's window theory ! I have had many small windows of creation throughout my life and many years where that window was closed. The creative mind works differently. We cannot do 9 to 5 creation. We just hope and pray that our small windows stay bright enough to complete the thoughts we have. Sometimes flooding our minds in a way the sun shooting though a window and overwhelming us to the point where we may feel even feel blinded for a short time. The analogy was spot on. ❤❤

I'm 52 years old and have had social anxiety for my entire life, so much so that I am literally unable to speak publicly. I start to stammer, I get extremely hot, start sweating, and my thoughts are consumed with judgment. I can rationalize it and sometimes come out "victorious", more so as I've aged, but to this day, it still controls my actions on occasion. I've literally been robbed of some life altering opportunities due to my anxiety. I'm also an artist, I love to create, It's my saving grace. I share Ren's thoughts on this, if nothing else, the art that I leave behind may actually mean something. I don't take any meds, never have, so it's just me and my mind in a constant struggle. For those that don't suffer with the same problem, it's hard to grasp how truly terrifying everyday life can sometimes be. All that said, "Hi Ren" was truly cathartic for me. An artist who was forged through fire put in front of me the perfect piece of relatable art. With my name being Ken, it's also not much of a stretch to literally make the song "mine". I've never encountered an artist with whom I could connect to on such a profound level. I'm NOT alone in my struggles. I've watch so many "Hi Ren" reaction videos that I can say with perfect honesty, I've seen the performance dozens of times. It still brings me chills EVERY time. I've become a diehard Ren fan, not just for his music, but for who he seems to be irl. I CAN RELATE. To me, he's a generational talent, the kind of artist that can truly affect people in ways that most don't. He's truly special. Diamonds are created through pressure. Ren IS a diamond.

So glad I started watching this interview. Ren is my new favorite artist. I've never seen anyone like him, but that's not the only reason I like him so much. About 2 years ago, I wrote my first novel, a fantasy novel, and I was amazed that I accomplished it, and was quite proud of myself. Then I made the mistake of thinking about what would happen if my book sold well, and all that would mean, but when it basically just sat there doing nothing, mostly because I'm on my own, and don't really know what I'm doing, I got depressed. I let "the outcome" affect me. This was to be a 5-book series, and I started to write book 2 right away, but about 3 chapters in, I stopped writing. I kept thinking I'd start up again, but I didn't, because I was so frustrated with the lack of interest, that I lost the motivation to write... until just recently, and I think Ren had at least something to do with that. I forget where I first heard him say how he wasn't "outcome driven" when he wrote music, like he said again here in your interview, and why it's wrong to be outcome driven, but it was also hearing all that he went through, and how he's responded to all of it. Then, there's how he's reached out to everyone, and stands in solidarity with all the yt reactors, instead of how some artists react, with their copyright strikes and stuff. I was amazed at his attitude, and his humbleness, and I'm pretty sure that's what inspired me to stop worrying about the outcome, and just write, because I loved writing what I wrote, and that's all that mattered. When I first sat down to write, it wasn't about money. I wrote it because I wanted to; just to do it. Ren made me see the trap I had fallen into. He'll probably never see this comment, but Ren, thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You've been quite the inspiration for me, and you made me remember what I had forgotten; that it's not about the outcome... but the journey.

How he stays true & humble in all that hype is beyond me... But 100% well deserved, like in Chevelle song- Fate has tortured us for too long... Revenge! :) Go get them Ren :)

Between being a dad, working fulltime and just all the things going on in life, I've only recently found time to start reading for pleasure again. Even though I have a lot of the classics on my shelves, I tend to read more "Arthurian" fantasy with magic systems or big series like James Clavell's "Asian Saga". Ren has inspired me to pull some of the classics off the shelf - going through my George Orwell collection right now. It's maybe an unexpected reaction to music, but I think it just shows the depth that Ren packs into his songs.

Cheryl Mack I totally agree I am 67 and I so enjoy REN’s music .This young man has a talent far beyond his years. I feel that at our age a lot of people assume we only listen to the music from our era and for sure we hands down had some of the best music growing up but he can take any song from any era and make it his own and just sound amazing. He takes you on a roller coaster ride on every song from crying one minute to laughing the next…he is like a box of Cracker Jacks that you can’t wait to open. ❤️

The more i see of this man, the more it becomes obvious to anyone exposed to him, is he seems almost entirely devoid of cruelty. Such maturity from one so young, I love the bit about how people shouldn't be cancelled for an opinion they held in the past, 30 years ago I would have been a socialist, I read some books and became an Anarchist , read some more and became a free market capitalist, read some more and became a libertarian, and now I've run out of reading I think I might need to start writing, I wouldn't like to be forever held to ideas I held to be true at any stage through the development towards where I stand now.

I agree, Jason. It's been a LONG time since I've come across an artist who has moved me in such a fundamental level, both in terms of triggering personal emotional reactions and literally affecting culture. Ren has spoken of a paradigm shift, though not necessarily with regards to himself, but I see him in the same way I saw Bowie moving culture forward from where the Beatles and Bob Dylan left off. For me, he represents something genuinely new, a "new" way of looking at the world, one from an elevated perspective, a more empathetic, inclusive, conscientious and conscious outlook that seeks to connect one another. Ren is clearly well read, knowledgeable and quite wise for his 34 years (though he looks more like one of 24 years) and I'm grateful that so many people - and such a wide range of ages - have discovered him and are listening to his words. Great interview, Rosalie. It felt as much like a conversation as an interview - and those are the best kind!

I have the same thing with adhesive arachnoiditis. I also had a diagnosis of ADHD, which turned out to be early onset demintia from the cytokines being produced from massive inflammation, so question that ADHD, especially if the diagnosis came later in life and developed along the path of your pain syndrome. Years ago I discovered the trigger mechanism for the episodes that seemingly would come out if knowwhere and was able to interrupt the trigger, taking these daily pain episodes (above the normal chronic pain) down to 30 seconds to a few min max. Since then everything "downstream" disappeared, early onset demintia that legs nerve pain, body shutting down, feeling sick as it hits (sound familiar), except my eyesight went to hell.

@@SacredOwl Thank you for your insights for me to look into. Sound familiar relates to a lot of what you replied here and will follow through with. Because my CRPS developed so bad and basically become unbearable pain the pain specialist wanted me to have a nervous system stimulator implanted into my lower back then to my spine. For the first 6 months my body wanted to reject it as being a foreign object and battled with major staph infections and hospitalised many times in that period on top of the pain. Now my body has accepted the device It has helped a lot with the coping with the CRPS pain but saying that after reading your reply my journey may very well just be a band aid to a symptom of a larger scale that I need to look into and address. Thank you for reaching out I really appreciate it. This is what Ren does and we wouldn't have communicated if it wasn't for his gift.

Rosalie, I am a recent fan of yours and Ren as well. Your breakdown and reaction moved me almost as much as Ren's performance. I don't even know where to start, and I don't want to waste your time, but, maybe, this is cathartic for me...even though I want you to know how much I appreciate you both. I was much like Ren, minus the physical sickness. I have suffered from OCD, depression, anxiety for years. I used to make music to deal with it from about 15 to 30. My entire focus became getting signed. It came pretty close to happening, but life had other plans. I am now 46 with an amazing wife and two young beautiful special boys I am so thankful for. Honestly, part of me still feels a lack or personal purpose. I haven't been able to write music for years because of this feeling of failure. Like I was so stupid for thinking I had any chance. Since then, substance abuse took ahold of me. About three and a half years ago, I overdosed. Rehab, AA, and sobriety have been a part of my life, and I am lucky to be alive. There is this feeling in me that I have yet to find my own purpose, outside of my family. I feel like I am wasting my time on earth, and I am too frozen to do what my heart wants me to do. I want to be an example to my boys of what to do with a second chance, and that dark Ren is in the back of my head keeping locked in place. Seeing Ren, hearing your breakdown, and hearing his words in this interview has created this pull to do something. I have been looking at it wrong for so long, and these videos have started to make cracks where the light can shine in. So, thanks. Ren and Rosalie. Sorry for the long message. I didn't plan on it.

LOVE that Ren is continuously reaching out to others who are extrapolating his art into the world. Class act man. ...there's 7.8B people on this glorious dirty rock spinning in space... his/your point of being true to one's self and being ok with not being everybody's cup of tea... how exhausting it would be to try to "make" everyone love ja. I dislike filters... tell me, if you dislike me, why... it may not make me modulate my behavior but it might... and at the very least it gives me a perspective that may be unfamiliar. I do sincerely believe he means what he says and that is a powerful unshackling from noise that doesn't matter. Peace and Love, as always, to you and to yours. Love the interview.
