The Ultimate Ice Fishing snowmobile for $2,000 (Craigslist Find)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I bought a snowmobile on craigslist for $2,000...actually it was $1,900, but it was a much needed upgrade for this ice fishing season. The key to ice fishing is staying mobile, and a snowmobile helps you cover water (ice) and find fish. I discuss why I chose a fan cooled snowmobile vs. a liquid cooled snowmobile and why I did not get an ATV.

Love your videos! Being a Houston boy that lived in DL MN for a couple years (still do in summers) I never could figure out the "fun" of up North winters. I did find *(being dumb) that a 4wheeler does not float on top of deep snow..and its super cold digging to get unstuck. Yep, I can see the joy of a sled but the information that you provided on them is fantastic. The "guys always talk about the hand warmers or engine sizes but never about the basics. Thanks again. Oh the only time I've been on a sled was about 20 years ago, on a 50 mile trip in to Yellowstone National Park aboard some sort of sled with no springs... never again.......... a back ache that beer could not take the pain away, lol.

Good video man. Coming to you from ND. We fish Lake Ashtabula here in SE North Dakota and usually early ice and late ice doesnt have much snow like you and we bought a 1999 arctic cat last year and we had enough snow last year without ice scratchers but we are gonna have to have some with in case. Didnt think of it until I saw this video. Good info and tips. A lot of guys like myself dont have some basic knowledge of snowmobiles.

I have the same snowmobile as you. Heads up, there is an air filter in the cowl (hood) that is likely to slowly disintegrate and contaminate your carbs. I could not find the OEM Polaris part so I looked online for something like it with similar dimensions. I replaced it with this - CORISRX BEST OF YOUR LIFESTYLE Aquarium Sponge Filter Foam 11.8"x4.7"x2.36" - Water Media Pads. It only required a few easy trims to make it fit. Thanks for sharing how you setup your ice fishing snowmobile.

At exactly 4:30 you can see the filter that I am talking about. The foam like spongy filter should cover that opening completely. I think yours is original and looks pretty bad.

Very nice.. I would be a little careful with the auger mount on he front being mounted through the fiberglass. Catch a tree or something with the auger and she’s done. It’s not that strong. I had a similar rear box setup and ended up busting the bottom out of the box. Might be worth trying to reinforce it a bit although I was probably harder on it than most people would have been lol.

I reinforced the brackets with sheet metal. Hopefully, it holds up. I don't drive through woods or fields with this rig. Typically, just drive it down the boat ramp a d onto the lake or river.
