I'm always blown away with how solid of a sound you get from the Wave Wraps across the board. It really is a bit mindblowing in person. Especially if you like to fiddle with finding a balanced sound with different mallets.

Thank you so much for your time and demonstrating these mallets. I really appreciate you showing us how these mallets sound and what you think about them. I am looking for the perfect pair for my daughter, she is practicing constantly and I think will go far with the marimba. We trust you and think you are amazing! Great video as always. You should make one for innovative percussion, it’s a very extensive selection of mallets.

Despite what you said about them, I love using the Double Helix 5's for playing transcriptions of the Bach Cello Suites

I really enjoyed this buyers' guide! I'm actually very surprised on the upper range clarity on the medium round sounds! Still partial to my DH sets, but I'm interested in testing the KM for weight. Using "Moon" for the sound tests was really helpful!

László Demeter I am glad you thought it’s good! I wasn’t sure when I came up with the idea and then I just rolled with it ahaha... yes I think I will tackle other brands too

A guy at my school owns a whole set of the Katarzyna Mycka series he got pretty cheap. I love the tone it gets out of the marimba and especially love the sounds of the Softs (KMB6s) and Very Hards (KMB1s). I would hope to own or at least try every mallet in the series extensively.

Your channel is awesome, exactly what I've been looking for when it comes to marimbas and mallets, tips and tricks. Also will you do a video about crossover mallets (vibe and marimba)? Like, is the sound quality not as good as just vibraphone or just marimba mallets?

Digression Thank you so much man! Yes I always find that the hybrid mallets end up being better for one than the other anyway hahaha, I think that’s why not many people invest in them as much

Do you know what would be good mallets for solo playing but are light? Also are Cheung hard mallets good? I have them currently but they are very heavy so I'm looking for new mallet suggestions. Would the beverley Johnston series be a good alternative?

I think you’ve just broken a world record. Also, nice try at the American accent. I have the WWB4’s. Marimba One was awesome enough to send me a pair during their 30th Anniversary Giveaway! I absolutely love how they sound on both ends of the marimba.

Adam Tan I think this is the greatest amount of Marimba One mallets I’ve seen in a video! 😂

So for a first set of graduated mallets, you'd choose M MH H H in double helix? Why not soft or medium soft for the low end? I'm not sure which ones to purchase! I'm getting three pair.

I saw Pius a few weeks ago! I was shocked when I saw him with a buzz cut 😭 Great video Adam :D (maybe do one for Encore Mallets?)

loved the video, but I really feel like you shorted out the bilic series lol. I have the IBB1s and 2s, and they are honestly some of the best mallets I own, with a really consistent, versatile and beautiful sound profile. personally once I have some extra pocket cash I am gonna acquire the 3s and 4s, because the 2s act as a fantastic general mallet and I trust that enough to make a graduated set. But since I don’t own the bilic mallets reviewed, I can’t speak for them, but the 2s and 1s are my favorite marimba one mallets (notably, the 1s are the hardest but it’s never too harsh! I just love how the mallets speak, or even ‘sing’ as they are marketed)

In the process of gettin new mallets. This honestly helped. I’m sure the double helix will be the ones I’m gonna get. The wave wraps are too hyped...

Anyone knows what's the actual weight od for Katarzyna myćka's series?

I wish I saw this video earlier! I just started learning marimba, and knowing nothing I bought 2 pairs of no-brand mallets off Amazon. Turned out they were absolute garbage. Now they are my cat's toy and they do a much better job at that than on a marimba XD

Really like the Katarzyna mycka's! maybe review the Ludwig Albert Series?

Could you give me some advice, I'm looking for mallets I could use to play as a soloist for a concerto with orchestra, I have a long passage to play loud and hard in the upper half of the marimba, what mallets could I use, powerful and hard but not like stone-hard, which can stand loud playing? Hey man! Concerto mallets are tricky, depends on what you are looking for in terms of weight and feel. Keiko Abe mallets / Jean Geoffroy are really popular global concerto mallets, and some US players like to use simple general mallets like Van Sice/Stevens etc for a predictable clean sound. I think the bes tthing is to do is try and see!

Great video Adam! This “buyers guide” is definitely beneficial! How does the weight of the Katarzyna Mycka mallets relate to Ludwig Alberts from IP or the Thomas Burritt series or Zivkovics? Thanks!

Brian Cole That’s a good idea! I’m not the biggest expert on specific marimba features but I can try ahaha... and there may or may not be another marimba coming into the studio 😂

The hard mallets from Lynn Vartan series seems to fit that description, but aren't they too light?

When I was at the marimba seminar this year, we got into a conversation saying that Marimba One mallets only sound good on Marimba One marimbas. I am not sure if that is true since I haven't been able to do side by side comparison. It's still hard to tell based off of this video, but I can kinda see it. I would like to try this expirement one day.

Shawn Olson I don't have access to a Marimba One board, but I have DHs. Not only do they sound good on all of the rosewoods I have access to, but they even make synthetics sound decent. I am glad I have them, and I'd recommend them for a good mid-articulate series.

'Recommend you try them first' Like where lol?! My former marimba teacher has been using the same set of (discontinued) mallets for 30 years and I have been using only four mallets that are all the same for the last years. I have called every drum seller and big musicstore around and noone has mallets to try out...
