SAME- so mad, my printer was not playing with them for a year since I moved and it was not able to use it. Now they won't let me use Walmart brand ink.

@@Maria-ng3yf Injustice cancelled it. I bought a generic brand or my husband did. They send us emails they woke cover any warranty. It’s over anyway and no extended warranty as the printer was a special Black Friday deal for $49

Sadly, this did not work for my HP OfficeJet Pro 9020. I have spent days trying to fix this problem. This is the first and definitely the last time I ever purchase HP. I guess I will have to go and purchase HP cartridges until I throw this piece of garbage away. Thanks for a very clear tutorial anyway, cheers!

I have a 9012e. it is less than a year old. I suspect that all printers manufactured after a certain point had the ink-restrictive firmware installed at the factory, so resetting to factory defaults does not return the printer to a non-restrictive firmware. Just my guess.

I got a 9020 2 months and now I'm stuck with it, the cartridges are even more expensive in my country and I've been trying to find a way to solve this for the past weeks and so far the only solution that I found is a company that make some changes in the board that bypasses their system and it costs like 200 usd but I'd rather buy another printer than spending more money on this shit

I don't know if you have resolved this issue, but if you haven't - have you tried downgrading the firmware? I have a 7720 and was able to downgrade the firmware and now those cartridges are working again. I will never purchase HP ANYTHING, and will make sure everyone else I know doesn't either.

@@judgewest2000 And if you would be so kind as to give instructions on how to downgrade the firmware? Have an OLD HP4520 and sadly these instructions did NOT work. The reset only made it necessary to reconfigure all the wireless info!

Dang it! Didn't work :( HP OfficeJet Pro 9015... so hope there is a class action lawsuit against HP for doing this and for price gouging on ink... I'm so frustrated.

This method worked fine on the first try for my HP OfficeJet 6954 using the ink cartridges from LxTek on Amazon. The color cartridges and an XL black only cost $28. I was spending over $100 at Walmart for the same 902 cartridges. Thanks for saving!

This is all good advice and it worked on an HP 9014e. However, I think an important addition is once you have done all these steps, go into the printer settings and turn off automatic updates. I found that if you don’t , the printer will update its software and the cartridges will reject again

I had high hopes for your video but reading the comments I fear it won't work for my HP Envy 4512. I guarantee you I am better informed on this stuff now and doubt I purchase another HP printer ever again.

Didn't work on on my 8022E. I have learned that HP has "updated their firmware" and you cannot now revert to a version where you could use non-hp inflated price, low yield, ink. I will be returning the printer and not by another HP....

Will this work even if you have an HP+ account? You apparently need an account to finish the setup.

Thank you it worked, finally! I had to re setup the printer to my computer after (probably due to disconnecting printer power)... This is my second HP printer and I currently use an HP laptop, I can assure you that I will never buy another HP product! Edit: Once again I went to print today and the printer wont led me because the ink cartridge's aren't HP. I'm taking them out and sending them back and buying HP's monopolized inkjet cartridges! no choice

Well, I tried this but my printer's little window did not turn on when I plugged it back in. It would have helped if he also showed loading the cartridges. Needles to say; it didn't work. My HP Officejet 6700 still did not like the non-HP ink.

what about when you have been using non hp cartridges and now it won't recognize them. I don't have any original hp cartridges to go through the software reset like you show.

It didn't work for my 8028, I keep getting a message that my firmware is blocking the usage of the new cartridges. Anyone know how to reset the firmware or get rid of it all together?

Didn't work for LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw. So far, every time I purchase a laser cartridge, even with chips that claim to be accepted by HP, I have to remove the new chip and install the original HP chip. That also continually gives the message that toner is low.

Didn't work on my HP 8020 Pro. Have tried several different methods and based what I have read there are printers out there that HP has programed to be unpassable. Had I known about this I would never have bought this printer. So pissed...

It looks like each new HP printer has its own trick to bypass the refill option. I guess, you will also need to decline the HP free ink option for the first 6 months, registration and automatic firmware "upgrade" option. Why not buy a Canon instead?

The original printing consumable firmware has been upgraded. You need to replace it with a new ink cartridge, or you can send the existing cartridge back to the seller. They can upgrade the chip and then resend it to you. This should resolve the issue

The HP Printer knows that I am using non-OEM carts, but does it keep a record of that? If so, I suspect using non-OEM carts is tantamount to throwing out the warranty.

My catridge 8710 is worked finnally 1. Restore factory 2. Open door 3. Disconnected power cord and outlet 4. Wait 5mnt, and press hold power to remove any power left in the printer 5. Put in new ink 6. Plug back back without surge protector 7. Plug back cord on printer 8. Turn on back This my step, hope can help for others
