Divorcing a narcissist is a nightmare, especially if she has a rich Dad. I didn't know that there was so much BS paperwork in a divorce. I got served three times at work for just BS, then my employer fired me, who wants cops coming to your workplace three times in a month. Not one lawyer wanted to face her lawyer, I really couldn't believe what I was facing. I have no sympathy for a narc. You're first lie to me is your last. Forgiveness only breeds more abuse. Once a narc is gone, you are never the same. To this day seven years later she still hoovers, I think she's pathetic and I would have no reservations about calling the police if I see her again.

Sorry you went through that! I had no idea people made up lies to get restraining orders until I did some research when I took one out on my husband. The ones who lie make true abuse survivors look bad to some degree. I wish I would have recorded the moments I went through abuse.

@11:11 You touch on something very poignant - we like to poke fun at narcs but at the root they are very hurt and injured and unable to heal. These unfortunate people become hijacked by their damaged egos and cruelly they are most often not able to ever escape that ego imprisonment. It’s very sad and the destruction wrought by narcissists carves a wide swathe.

Manipulating our kids, threatening to destroy me, crying fake tears to everyone (including our kids) that he just loves me and is devastated that I’m destroying our family, the list goes on. I’ve homeschooled our kids for 10 years, he’s now accusing me that I e never educated them and he took over their schooling a month ago because I don’t have the “moral capacity” to teach them (after he admitted to a marriage long porn addiction). It’s insanity and even more insane that he could win in this messed up legal system. I just want joint custody and to get away from him, but he wants to burn me to the ground.

You need an attorney familiar with dealing with narcissists. I fired my last attorney because he wasn’t familiar in dealing with narcissists and hired a team of female attorneys. Documenting is key! Have proof of everything and be prepared to back up claims/accusations made by your partner. They will twist, blame and lie to make you look bad. Also educate yourself on dealing with narcissists because it also help you understand your court proceedings as well. There is no working things out civilly with them unfortunately. I wish I was able to settle civilly but it’s not possible.

    8. Change all passwords to all of your online banking accounts. Password reset answers to bank accounts must changed also. You don’t want your ex to reset your passwords by correctly guessing answers 9. You can absolutely close out the joint checking account by yourself, even if you are not the primary. Open a new bank account by yourself at the same bank. This way the bank can fix auto-debits to avoid overdrafts. The bank can move your paycheck autodeposit to the new checking account immediately 10. Don’t use your lawyer as a counselor, they are much more expensive. Try not to ever email your lawyer directly, use the paralegal because it costs less. It’s a good sign if your divorce attorney requires a fee for a consultation. Visit every top lawyer in a 100 mile radius so your ex can’t hire the top lawyers. Look at the state laws for divorce and file in the state that helps your cause the most. 11. Get a POA for yourself asap. If you get hurt in an accident you don’t want the narcissist to have control over your medical care. If you have a life insurance policy change the beneficiary immediately 9. Close down your email and create a new email address 10. Stay off social media 11. Don’t talk bad about your ex in front of your kids no matter what. The kids will be able to see the truth and it will save your kids pain. Don’t use your kid as a communication tool with your ex

Kenny, I've been through the same just a year and change ago and will be posting a no-nonsense series of videos to help people manage this outlandish behavior. We've had similar experiences! The benefit is, I am a lawyer and was at least smart enough to hire one, dumb enough to stick around too long to pay alimony. My narcissist professed to be a good Christian and was classically creating a narrative to make them look good and me bad. I disagree with your call for empathy; that's how we got here in the first place.

Our daughter was very young and at one point he took my daughter for his agreed upon time prior to the divorce finalizing and took her and dumped her off at his mother's crappy apartment for TWO WEEKS, never telling me where she was!! He didn't want her.... he just didn't want ME to have her!! He, frequently, called the police and misrepresented me to them. Told them outright LIES about me turning me into the evil person trying to get me arrested because I work in the court and he wanted to get me fired.... he did so much that it would take me days to write it all down.... he is still a nightmare in my life... it never ends!

My advice to men more than women, since men move on quicker. Stop with moving on to a new relationship during this process. Take time to grieve and focus on your divorce. Adjust to a new life. Otherwise, you’re just proving the other parties point that you’re a narcissist looking for a new “supply” of attention.

If you can't afford an attorney check with your state or local law library to see if you can access documents to file yourself. They come with instructions. Additionally, grace from The Most High comes in handy.

The problem with Sylvia is she does tend to drool all over the courtroom as she can’t breathe properly because of her flat face. Hold on, she isn’t actually a bulldog?
