Understanding Deep Substrate & the Father Fish Supplement
In this informative KZread video titled "The Very Best Formula for a Natural Deep Substrate Aquarium" viewers will learn the essential steps to establish a thriving natural aquarium. Father Fish emphasizes the critical role of deep substrate and the Father Fish supplement for achieving a balanced and sustainable environment.
The video begins by highlighting the significance of deep substrate, which plays a crucial role in mimicking the natural habitat of aquatic plants and organisms. Deep substrate allows for the proper establishment of a diverse ecosystem, enabling plants to establish strong root systems and promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria.
The discussion also centers around the importance of a sand substrate, which complements the deep substrate and contributes to a balanced and stable environment. The combination of both substrates creates a harmonious ecosystem that fosters the growth of various plant species while providing an ideal environment for fish and other aquatic life.
Furthermore, the video emphasizes the significance of nutrients, organic matter, and essential minerals for maintaining the aquarium's health. The presenter explains how these elements interact and contribute to the overall well-being of the aquarium's inhabitants.
A key highlight of the video is the introduction of the "Father Fish supplement." Father Fish elaborates on the supplement's unique formulation, enriched with organic compounds and essential nutrients. The supplement acts as a catalyst for the growth and development of aquatic plants and supports the overall vitality of the aquarium.
In conclusion, "Do Not Start a Natural Aquarium Without Doing This" emphasizes the crucial role of deep substrate and the Father Fish supplement for creating and maintaining a successful natural aquarium. Viewers are left with valuable insights and practical tips to embark on their own natural aquarium journey while ensuring the well-being of their aquatic inhabitants.FATHER FISH is an advocate for natural aquariums. I had problems in the past with anaerobic bacteria with deep sand this was when I was younger it all most killed all my fish how do you do with sand with deep is it a special type as I now don’t do deep sand cause of what happened just cover the 2 plant soil substrate I mix together. I’ve never used dirt soil but hear you have to watch the fertiliser in them & the ammonia going up heaps same with compost. Mud is like dirt & sand & matter broke down hey. What would you recommend to make a supplement I’m in Australia I would want to buffer water tho all fish, shrimp & plants I have do best in acidic soft water. I just set up a 29 gallon tank yesterday took me 6 hours. Took all the fish, shrimp, decor, plants and aquarium gravel. I would say the FF tank has 3 or 4 inches of dirt/ mud from a river. Also have a planted plant in the middle from Home Depot. Then I have a layer of 1 inch sand. Some spots are a very thin layer like an inch. I already set up more plants and some fish back into the tank. Any advice on what to do? Worried that my sand layer is too thin or maybe my dirt layer is too thick 🤷‍♂️. My tank still has dirt and is cloudy. I was very careful adding in water to not disturb things. Please looking for advice! Thank you

    This video definitely answer my question I posted on another video. Now I have another question I currently have a 75gal with sand substrate. My plan is to drain tank water into totes, put the plants I have, driftwood in with fish and sponge filter. Then remove sand, then put dirt in tank and cap with old sand. How long after setting up natural tank can I put all my fish back in. Some videos says add a few at a time. Can I not all of them at once since I’m using the driftwood from old tank and sponge filter? Thanks. I cannot wait to covert my tank

    Father fish is the answer to the dream aquarium i wish to have. Your videos and explanations are simply brilliant. In some of your videos i see you mention that the dirt part of the substrate should be no more than 1 inch and over that, the sand should be 2 inches. Yet in some i see you mention that one can go for even a 6 inch deep dirt part with another few inches of sand. Now I have a 90 cm long by 60 cm wide by 90 cm tall tank. How deep should the dirt be so that its nutrients can last a long long time and vis a vis the depth of what you prescribe for the dirt, how much further up should the sand go? Thank you. Best wishes from India. Ps: do you ship to India?

    Does it matter what kind of sand it is? I imagine so long as its fine and inert it would work but I am not sure how much it matters, for example if I used a course sand would i need more to create the anaerobic layer than with finer sand? What if I wanted a very dark substrate? What would happen if one attempted a dry start with this dirt and sand mixture? Some people like to get their plants going in a high humidity environment before adding water since it can speed up coverage for things like moss and many carpeting plants. Its extremally interesting because the father fish aquariums remind me of a terrarium in the sense that they are biodiverse havens that focus heavily on the importance of the substrate, its makeup, and how its layered. The types of dirt and how they are layered can have a huge impact on a terrarium system to achieve different conditions, there has to be something similar with this style of aquarium. I am a terrarium person first and foremost so I cant help but compare, I got into the aquarium hobby for the the plants since many aquarium plants are also great terrarium plants but there are also many obligately aquatic plants that got me really entranced as well as the various fauna.

    I set up my first (and only so far) planted tank back in January, but I didn't know about the substrate becoming acidic so I didn't add any buffers to it. My tank is acidic now, my tap water is base about 7.2, but now my aquarium is always acid. I have put about a 1/4 cup of crushed coral in on top of the sand, and I'm thinking I will add more, but I don't know if that is going to be good enough.

  • @FatherFish

    @FatherFish

    You need carbonates in substantial quantity to act as a buffer. Start with baking soda. A fish store with salt water supplies will have pure calcium, typically sold as Ph up.
