    The siege assault strategy also works without knocking down the walls. You can just park your archers right in front of the ladder area like normal until your archers kill off the enemy archers. To lure enemy melee fighters out, just climb onto the first rung of a ladder and park yourself there. They will swarm the top of the ladder and you can just hang out while your archers mow them down. If it's too risky for you to do it yourself, have your shield infantry do the job by telling them to attack, then ordering them to halt when they start climbing. No wall breach needed.

  • @Strat-Guides

    @Strat-Guides

    2 жыл бұрын

    Very true, it's one of my go to strategies regardless of the breach. I have found that it takes a bit longer without the breach and I burn through my archer's ammo a bit faster since the shields will sometimes block incoming fire. A great point though, especially if you need to take the castle ASAP when the siege camp finishes up, which is more often the case than them letting you build siege engines for 10+ days lol.

    @@Strat-Guides Yeah ! My problem is a lot of settlements don't have enough traffic to sustain them so they just end up starving until about 3 or 4k prosperity. Trying to figure out how to get traders to get to these settlements but there are so many variables whether it's war and lords or mercenaries attack said caravans or bandits. Then there's the fact that if a faction is at war with you a great deal of caravans are just out of the equation for your town to receive. I wish there were ways to open with more diplomatic channels with nations that aren't your own. Feels very stale late night on that front. If you take the best method, 638.6XP per day, it would take us 3656.2 days or 43.5 years. The XP is significantly less to get to 300, only 562,795.9XP so about 881.3 days or 10.5 years. If they build their defensive siege engines build ballistas and let dem destroy again and again, that gave you the most XP in my testing. Have fun brothers :)

    Thanks for the guides, they have been really helpful. Engineering has absolutely been the most painfully slow skill to level followed closely by Medicine. Even using all the tricks from your videos and other sources they still level incredibly slowly. Wasting several hundred food and losing an entire army of 150+ troops to siege engine splash damage sieginga rebel city using the 'keep destroying enemy siege engines' tactic and barely getting a low single digit number of skill points of it. It's slow and frustrating, takes a lot of time to prepare and can only be done sometimes when the right city is attackable. I really hope there will be better ways for leveling engineering and medicine at some point. It feels like Scouting or Steward level faster passively while in the red than those two skills do using the maximum xp multipler and the optimal tactics.

It seems underwhelming that I can match level 300 engineering build speed by simply inviting 500 more troops to the army. Totally agree with the XP gain as well, it would be nice if siege engine kills in battle gave engineering XP instead of bow or throwing.

    Keep in mind, you also get XP for getting kills with your siege equipment within the battle. On defense, build a Ballista, take command of it and shoot at clumped infantry, got to 300 in just a couple sieges doing this. Harder on offense but Catapults can net you some good results. Also a good way to get your companions leveled, haven't found a way to force them to use an engine but if they do I've seen them level pretty quick

    Some stuff changed since the video were made. Like leveling the skill: best way is to man the siege engine yourself and shoot ppl with it. You can get close to 300 in one battle by just peppering shield walls with your engine of choice. As attacker you can just tell your men to chill while you play darts with defenders. I'm also sure that Taleworld Math have also changed its rules (as math tend to do, right?) but i don't do TM science experiments to know details.

Which you can apply here by sieging their settlement and just before capitulation and surrender, you "force" a peace with them as i expect you to be a faction leader at that point. Let them rebuild and repeat the process again. You can even play this farther by having multiple of these kind of castles to rotate with while forcing peace where needed so you dont take over the castles.

It's basically just a catalogue of all perks in the game, organized by multiple data points: attribute type, skill type, who it applies to (personal, captain, party leader, etc.). I go through an select which perks I want to have by the end game and then work backwards to get how many points into each I need (both attribute and focus points). We simply take the highest level perk in each category and then use the level cap chart to see how many attribute/focus points are need to achieve that. I also put access to the database on the Discord channel so anyone can go in there and create a duplicate of it for their own personal use. It only requires a Notion account, which is 100% free.

Does this mean the Engineer slot in your party setup screen doesn't work as intended? I have a companion set in the slot and she's getting engineering xp; I assumed this meant it was working. Thanks. ***EDIT: Forget I asked, seems as if others had the same question. Leaving this up for anyone else who might be confused. Cheers.

  • @Strat-Guides

    @Strat-Guides

    Жыл бұрын

    Yeah this is one of the most confusing parts about assigning roles! So the only engineer that contributes their engineering skill to the speed of construction is the engineer of the army leader's party. So for example, there are 5 parties in the army, all 5 will have engineers assigned (usually the party leader for the AI). The only one that will use engineering skill to improve the speed is the one in the main army. So if you joined up with someone else's army, your engineer will NOT get build XP and their engineering skill will not be used to speed up building. They will get passive XP for being there, but that's it. So if the army leader has level 1 engineer and everyone else has 330, tough luck because they won't be used lol. If you're leading the army, then whoever is assigned to the engineering role WILL get the build XP and their skill will help speed up the time. I hope this clears things up!

    The video was great. A couple of notes however, when you say you should be within 10% of the enemy to ensure they don't break siege or attack, this is kind of inaccurate since the NPC's care more about overall power than numbers. You could have fewer troops than them and still have them break the siege if you have mostly top tier units vs their low tier troops. The other thing of note is that you do not need to wait to be a vassal/merc/king to start leading sieges. My favorite tactic in the early game is to keep track of which towns are taken by opposing cultures and wait for them to rebel. If they can hold off against the first siege from their previous owner, I swoop in after and take it when it is super weak with no food and reduced troops.

  • @Strat-Guides

    @Strat-Guides

    2 жыл бұрын

    That's a great point and I even paused while editing and considered redoing it as you can see in my own footage that I used, I was like 20-25% off from their numbers but much higher troop quality. What I meant to say is that if you have a similar troop composition, then numbers should be within 10% but that's a terrible way of saying it too haha I think within 10-15% of balance of power should have been the right way to go. Woops! Yeah the rebellions are a great point, since you only have to deal with a couple parties at most. I should have added that in there for sure and it's in my notes now for when I have to remake this due to patches. Thank you for the input, these are all great points!! I don't know if you have showed this trick in another video, but here is how to win almost any defensive siege. Up to 7 to 1 outnumbered or even more. Before you start the siege battle go to the settings and change the battle size to be about double of the defenders size (200 defenders -> 400 battle size). At the beginning of the battle you should have about 40% of the 400 battle size on your side, no matter how outnumbered you are. Now you simply retreat from the battle when the enemy reaches the wall and start again. Because you are defending you will have less casualties then the enemy, do this a few times and you will no longer be outnumbered and can play the siege normally.

    Yeah a lot of this guide in particular is outdated, which I went over in a more recent video. I also included the patch that the testing was done in. Once the website is up and running all of this won't be an issue anymore because it will be a lot easier to control the data and be able to show the most updated videos rather than KZread pushing the older video because it has more views :( I appreciate the heads up, it will be fixed soon!

    Huh, interestingly your tactic for winning large sieges is pretty well my exact tactic for sieges in warband. Only you don’t need to bait out enemies and I used 1/3 infantry and 2/3 crossbow soldiers

    If my archers run out of arrows or bolts I tend to just retreat if the advantage is still too low for a full on clean up charge. After that I just attack them again and repeat until the advantage is high enough

    Yeah that's a viable strategy, especially on a siege. It's not cheesing in my opinion because it's reasonable to assume you could do it IRL and just reengage after the resupply.

    Thank you! I did release a video showing the 1.8.0 changes for both skills and perks (2 separate videos). If I recall, engineering changed in 1.7.2 from giving bow, athletics and throwing to now giving engineering for kills while using a siege engine in battle. Aside from that, this guide still holds true :) I'm going to redo all of the skill and perk guides once we got full release, but I decided against redoing them until then since they may change things.

    @@Strat-Guides another thing, i dont think you mentioned it, unless i let it slip pass my ears, if i have a companion engineer, and defening my fief, all the engineering bonuses will work from governor slot, or only when i have him in my party? or both? and what if i've an engineer in my party, but the current governor appointed by me got zero engineering whatsoever?

  • @Strat-Guides

    @Strat-Guides

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@TrueWhiskas So only the perks that are labeled as Governor will work when that companion had been placed as the governor of your fief. If he has the perks but is in your party as the engineer, then those governor perks will not work. Likewise, if your engineer is placed as the governor, then they will no longer active any of the regular perks, but only the governor perks. For the last question - in my testing I was not able to earn XP for the governor. I think they can only earn XP as the engineer while in a party.

    If I didnt miss it, you didnt say what xp modifier are these numbers for, but basically you need to siege under ideal conditions for about.. 2000 days IF 6386xp per 10 days is without the 12.5x modifier. And if it is with that modifier it would take 25000 days to max out on engineering so to put it in perspective, if you had a character that wouldnt do anything other than to siege under ideal conditions it could likely die of old age before maxing engineering. :D In the first case if we take that day in bannerlord on 2x speed is like 20s the best case scenario that you wont ever even come remotely close to is about 11 hours IRL of just constant siege. Either way its just a "bit" longer than I am willing to spend for this kind of a skill.

    Yes this works, but if you control the siege engine yourself and kill like 5 people you gain like 13 levels, and if you’re like me who focuses the large group of people behind a ram I’ll kill like 9 in one shot and by the end of the siege I gained 30-50 levels. Try it out cause it works for me. I go during my mercenary phase I’ll end up with like 200 engineering by the time I hit clan level 2 (with 5 learning points spent into it)
