    Your personality and ease of conveying information reminds me a lot of Norm Abrams from This Old House and The New Yankee Workshop. Not in looks or accent, but in the easy going and straightforward presentation of the subject matter. Thanks for all your hard work in making these videos. I'm too old now (73) to start buying equipment for metalworking, but I enjoy seeing new tools that make the work so much easier. I still stick some metal together every now and then.

    That is so cool. I have always hated working with a piece of long 10 foot stock and always having to re-arrange stuff in the shop. I usually end up using my chop saw on the floor with the sparks flying out the door into the drive way. What a completely better way. I'll bet that will work great with the new trailer as well!!!

    Thank you! The build quality seems impressive. The head unit I would guess is the same as my other saw and that one is as tight as the day I got it. I been using abrasive chop saw till neighbor complains to the city that too much sparks around , being fire hazard… because of my deafness, telling city I dunno what I’m doing….. well, I bought this saw to be less hazard and inspector panic I pick up the metal ( intentionally!!) after cutting… grabbed it off my hand…. Should see him shocked how cool it was !! 😅😂🤣😂😆 I told him straight out… I been heavy equipment mechanic 45 years and never had issues with sparks, torches and you’re treating me like crap !!! But, for a monthly fee, they will give me a blue checkmark to verify I'm the real account. Seems like they have no incentive to clear up fake accounts. Bunch of crooks. Great review on yet another great product. My only gripe, and it's not targeted at you is. It took me 2 years to save enough for the previous Evolution saw and the mag drill. Not going to trash them though, both are awesome machines. In the position I'm in, I could not justify paying £800 for a new saw. The advantage for someone like me is, when a new product becomes available. The older fantastic product becomes cheaper. Keep up the great reviews and other content, it's all great. Cheers Steve.

  • @BrandonLund

    @BrandonLund

    Thanks Steve. In my opinion the original saw will never be obsolete. If someone rarely would need to make a miter cut, the saw with the least amount of moving parts is the one to use. Plus it's more compact.

    Hey Brandon! I LOVE my 10" Evolution sliding miter saw (its the orange one)It's marketed as a "multi-material" saw, but I've been using mine for 3 years cutting steel everyday. I use a steel demon blade from Diablo, as the Evolution blades haven't been good for me, they don't last as long as Diablos.

  • @BrandonLund

    @BrandonLund

    Жыл бұрын

    I've heard those Diablo blades hold up really well. I tried sending some of my Evolution blades out to get sharpenened and because the teeth are very small, they said they aren't able to sharpen them. I'll have to try the diablo and give it a try.

    OMG - tool lust at first sight!!! I bought the S355CPS chop saw (and matching stand) after seeing you using yours - what a brilliant machine!! Because the cutting head doesn't move, I also struggle with cutting miters with the standard chop saw, especially since it is mounted to the stand. More weight to move and more area needed to do so. This new saw is (would be) the ultimate!! I love the clamping bar setup with adjustable width & height. It is so versatile and provides a lot of security in the setup. Can I justify the cost for my own use? Not really as I only do simple stuff for my own use. WILL I spring for the new one? Maybe - I AM a tool junkie for sure. Being in Portugal, I will need to order off of Amazon (Germany) and the price is €949. Please everyone, promise not to tell my wife the price if one appears here at the house.

    Brandon, if you end up cutting a lot of harden steel for welding (ie AR500 plate for tractor bucket parts), you are going to want an abrasive cut saw. That and an OA or plasma are about the only thing worth using to cut hardened steel plate.

    Hi Brandon, great video about this miter saw. I was just wondering if this miter saw can cut at a 60-degree angle? Best regards, Azd

    If I remember correctly, the maximum is 47ish degrees.

    So how well will it cut 2-7/8” steel tubing and at angles?

    I have no idea. I haven't tried with that size tube. I have links to the products in the video description, which will give you maximum dimensions at given angle.

    I wish it had a laser or some other way of aligning the cut perfectly to the line marked on it. Or even a buillt in way of setting end blocks.

  • @BrandonLund

    You can cut pretty much anything with it, wood, plastic, metal. It's awesome. You can get specific blades for aluminum, stainless, steel and they even have a combination blade (their yellow blade) that cuts wood, metal, plastic and more.

    Hello. I recently contacted Evolution regarding their saws. One of the reasons why i need one is to cut through hardened steel motorcycle crank pins. Their answer was they dont have a blade to do this. Any suggestions?

  • @BrandonLund

    @BrandonLund

    6 ай бұрын

    I dont know if you need the temper. If not, you can heat the crank pin which will remove the temper. The Evolution blades can be sharpened like any other blade but you will have a hard time finding someone to replace the teeth when they need it because the teeth are unusually small in size which makes replacement difficult.

    Only way they could make this saw any better would be battery powered. I bought a new Dewalt miter saw and the box had not been opened and as I looked at it I noticed the blade was in backwards. That was a few years ago. That saw didn't last long and of course i didn't pay for extra warranty. After that I quit buying their saws other tools i have are Dewalt with no problems. Those saws are worth the cost. I know a guy in Canada that has the regular saw and he replaced the blade with a new one but the blade didn't last very long.

    I agree, especially with todays battery technology. Years ago I bought a 12 volt Dewalt cordless kit and in pretty short order I had runined all the tools and batteries, however, I have a 10" Dewalt chop saw that I've had for probably 25 years and have had zero issues other than replacing brushes. This saw is very well built. I can tell this saw will be around for a LONG time in my shop.

    The ONLY reason the metal chopsaw manufacturers haven't done this before is they've wanted to keep costs down. Higher end chop saws have this feature. Apple made laptop charge adapters for DECADES with a replaceable 120v cord end, but NOT a replaceable DC cord that plugs into the laptop... THAT's the cord that will bite the dust first... well, they finally started making the thin wire replaceable starting in 2017 so you no longer need to replace a $70 charge adapter. This wasn't rocket science or an amazing innovation, they wanted to make $70 off of repeat sales of designed obsolescence in their products.
