Same here. I come to watch PROFESSOR Dungeonmaster because I want to LEARN from him. And every video he puts out that does so is absolute gold. Unfortunately, the majority of D&D fans disagree with us and would much rather hear about the "trendy" stuff and the negative news going on with the company. The unfortunate truth is that in order for a D&D channel to be successful, they have to bounce on the trends at worst, and appeal to the PLAYERS at best. So long as players outnumber DMs 30-1, a channel that focuses solely on the DM won't be able to "make it".

I think Deathbringer musical would draw more views than Wotc scandals.

I love how you demonstrate the crafting process to make it more approachable for people. Having a backdrop for the action is definitely better than filling a table with walls that obscure everyone's vision, yet properly sets the stage for the scene.

What really fascinates me about this style of dungeon terrain is how closely it resembles set dressing for stage plays-I’d really love to see a deeper dive into stage decoration and how it can be used to enhance a tabletop game, especially considering how the viewing angle (from above, to similarly sized actors down below) synergizes between the two. With the DM as chorus and the players as both actors and audience, it seems like a very interesting line of analysis!

Reading this makes me want to have a couple of sessions where the adventure is actually a play, probably with the players knowing it (or maybe unknowingly, orchestrated by a powerful being). Both scenarios lends to different very fun play sessions. In the middle of "combat" the adversary/or player turns and addresses the audience. Over the top action and drama... *heads off to write this down*

I love when the theatre kid in you shows through. A lot of these techniques are just like what set designers use for making models! I'd love to see more videos like this. Maybe you could design a set piece for an encounter ON a fantasy theatrical stage production of MacDeath. Very meta.

I would absolutely LOVE to see sequels to this. I could see making these becoming an entirely new hobby. I want to make a creepy evil temple with red windows. Awesome, awesome, video, Professor.

I take a hybrid approach; I don't use UDT, but I do use versatile, crafted dungeon tiles, easy to dress for any scene, easy to clean up and stow; Professor DM showed how to make those one time, too! (My personal favorite craft project on this channel 😊). (Professor DM can respond to this with a link to that video - a set of small, configurable dungeon tiles that are compact and fit in a small box)

That is a spectacular idea. It seems so obvious to view the scene as a stage rather than trying to build a top down view we're used to. As an idea, using magnets on the panels would allow you to swap out parts, if you were that way inclined. And if you want to be extra fancy, you could build in a mini dice tower where you have to open a door to let the die out! 😁

I love the idea of a set piece that adds a bit of flair and a sense of "place", without being a full-blown terrain layout. I'm already thinking of ways I could adapt this concept to my modern-day superhero game...

Love it when I get to see the craft back in DungeonCraft! Please do many more videos like this.

I love how you talk about making this like a play. I think we crafters sometimes get lost in the idea of creating something grander, something bigger that actually distracts focus from the gameplay. When I create my sets they're a bit bigger than what you're doing but I think I still tend to go for that small setup to bring focus in. With the way you described it here I think I'll find it easier to draw the focus even tighter into what's going on.

It was a nice touch adding the centimetres for the rest of the world There are other channels that are almost indignant about using anything other than "freedom units" - but the way you slipped it in without making it a big deal is really cool Its little touches like these, as well as the cool content, that sets you apart from others Long live Deathbringer!

I love this video (and ALL Dungeom Craft videos)! I would love to see other versions of this for different areas (dungeon, maybe wilderness, etc). Your crafting videos are so much more approachable than a lot of crafting channels which assume fancy tools most people probably don’t have.

Absolutely we want a sequel. Always a big fan of Theater of the Mind Terrain! Simple yet conveys so much ambience.

The tea lights are a very cool touch. My wife and I have a few lying around the house that need to be put to use.

I really like the "stage setting" approach. I tend to do very abstract room layout/constructs and this is a great way to keep a consistent vibe without constantly configuring individual rooms in the dungeon/scenario.

Oh, fun. Reminds me of the DM Scotty tilescapes building fronts from a while back. Using the screen as a part of the terrain is a fun addition. I love how much of the hobby is how you use terrain as much as what is actually made.
