I thought the screen cutout was an issue of technology, not aesthetics. I'd MUCH rather have a clean display than a top notch selfie camera. I'd be entirely happy without one, but I suppose it has it's uses sometimes, so I'd be happy for this to become the norm for flagship models

I've always admired these types of devices, having been a mobile gamer myself. But I just realize there aren't really games out there that can truly utilize the power and features they offer. It gets tiring to constantly see games like PUBG Mobile and Genshin Impact being the main choices for these devices. What we really need are proper console ports, similar to what Apple did with Resident Evil on the iPhone.

There's a long answer and a short answer. Short answer is: It isn't viable in this form factor.

I rely on a 3.5mm jack and I absolutely hate camera cutouts (I'm ugly af, so I never take selfies anyway) so this phone is definitely on my list. Although, ill try to keep my Xperia 1 III as long as possible.

I've been waiting years for a good under screen camera phone. If I hadn't finally jumped to a foldable this month I would be scrambling to order this thing. There's absolutely a market segment that rarely uses their selfie camera for anything but face unlock, and having a full edge to edge screen looks incredible. I love the focus on gaming here since that differentiates and justifies such design choices that other manufacturers are not willing to make with their 1000$+ cameras with phones attached.

Besides the specs, having an under glass camera and having the back cameras that are recessed and not sticking out... I think that's really cool. I hate when I'm playing games on my iPhone 13 Pro Max and I have to try and ignore that front facing camera.

Yesss I just got the 15 Pro Max and want an accompanying Android gaming phone to replace my One Plus 7 Pro. TBH I might get this one just because it has an uninterrupted front screen just like the OP 7 Pro does.

Adopting the design language of the Nothing phones, the rectangular shape of the S23 Ultra, a huge battery with a whopping 80W charging speed + the magic added to gaming phones it will definitely be the beast of this year's smartphones, can't wait to see MKBHD's version of the best smartphones of 2023 and see if it's gonna be mentioned

Stealth black all the way, looks like a professional/business phone but hiding a beast gaming phone. If I have that kind-of phone I'll use it to play either PUBG or CODM plus any heavy emulator games like ps2, wii gamecube and ps vita ❤

I sold my Red Magic 7Pro after a few months but regret selling it it was awesome. The only thing I hate about it is the front-facing but it is understandable because it was not built for selfies it is built for gaming experience.

I current have a red magic 7 and it's been with me for over a year, absolutely love the phone. Will most likely get another red magic in the future when it's time to replace my current one. Happy to see they haven't adopted a notch or hole punch camera and still got a headphone jack when so many others are getting rid of it. Some of the reasons why I got the RM7, though I'm surprised this new one doesn't go up to 165hz like my current one, I guess they realized it was overkill 😂

Power isn't the issue with Yuzu. It's thermal throttling (RedMagic has fans) and the app itself is pretty far behind the PC version.

I've had a rough one 2 for over 2 years, broke it and switched to Red magic 5 , amazing , broke that too, bow I've had a red magic 7 and it's simply amazing. Can't find a fault, may e just a bit the finger print isn't too accurate, but fast, not buggy, updated, triggers, fans , 165hz screen . I was never a big camera fan ,so this one it's amazing for me. They're really good and I can see a big future for them !

love the full frame screen and the stealth version with the black on black.

if they upgraded the camera quality, i would buy that in a heartbeat.. that's a damn good looking phone🔥

thing is... I really like that phone and the tech in it, but the smallest I'll go in screen-size for games will be my tablet. I got some games on my phone that I play regularly but they would work on any smartphone that has been released since 2015...

Im torn between the two colors, however, I think the Snowfall is a cooler choice. Call Of Duty Mobile will keep me up late on this device. Incredible engineering from RedMagic and I totally love the video.

Already got mine 2 days ago. I've got the black version cuz I'm playing only CODM. the phone feels pretty solid and heavy in Hand.. need some time to get use to it .

Even as a phone design is great flat all round no rocking. Great bezels. As a guy I can live without any selfie cam. Love the charging sounds too, simple things you don't get.

No one ever covers the compatibility with the US carriers. Would love to know if this would work on any of them and also what bands that it's compatible with on each carrier

i know right! i bought a sony xperia 1iii from asia, thinking that 5G would work here in canada. but dumbass sony has regional models that don't support the 5G bands here. meanwhile, the actual phone is PERFECTLY CAPABLE!! i CAN enable it on my own, but i'll lose widevine L1(security). and i use banking apps that check for it.

To be honest I dont care about front camera. I want full display without any cuts or holes in it. I Have OnePlus 3T and I still want to buy OnePlus 7T Pro (even used) because of full display.

Op 7 pro was best design all the way up to z50 ultra/ axon 40 ultra series. Just bought my fifth op7 pro for 45€ a few days ago

I am upgrading from oppo a15s, using for more than two years, to this phone snowfall version. 4 GB ram to 16 GB ram. 😸 Cannot wait to play games when it arrived in one to two days. Never been so excited about a phone since Sony Xperia Z ☺️.

A very powerful phone indeed but just few questions coz im thinking of buying this. How long will this phone be supported with security patches and os updates? And wont the opening of the cooling fan take in dust overtime?

I was comparing this and the new S24 which only has 8gb ram and 128-256 storage. For a cheaper price(649USD) you get 12gb ram, 256gb , the same snapdragon processor. I'd buy this over the S24, the s24 only beats this in camera and battery life

Imagine phones like this back in the time were PUBG mobile and COD mobile were in there prime, that would've been amazing!

That charging feature and graphics are dope tho. Nice phone. I love how technology is getting better and better every year.

Redmagic Snowfall is a win win. (Currently using Lenovo Legion Dual 2. Love the RGB Y, 2 fan lights and 4 shoulder buttons. COD Mobile runs super smooth with 90hz. Having a side USB C is a hugh advantage, especially charging/bypassing while playing the games.

Imagine if there is a laptop skeleton and you just insert this in it and it becomes a fully functional laptop. So, at the price of 1 good device (+ 1 skeleton), we get 2 good devices.

@@b3ing In all fairness, Apple is actually in a good spot right now to make a mobile console. Probably not a gaming phone but they finally have complete hardware parity across their product line up (well soon, but Bionic is very similar to M3 in terms of running apps). We have seen them push their Metal hardware API layer, we have also seen them pushing emulation and even native publishing of games (resident evil demo). They are looking to expand their market... they are a business after all. Now they have the hardware, and if they can sell current non IOS people a device that will promote iCloud for saves, Airpods for audio and App Store for games, they have no reason not to.

Bruh, I've always wanted a bezel-less/ camera-less gaming phone, Ive owned a Black Shark, a ROG phone but this year I went with the S23 Ultra, no regrets but I do miss a dedicated gaming mode and the extra gimmicks.

This is a monster. Flat and square-ish is dope for an Android gaming phone. Design is so futuristic and cool. I wish to have one. Been watching a lot of tech reviewers in YT and this one is awesome.

Yeah , it isnt like Rog Phone 8 which looks like a regular 200 dollars smartphone rather than a gaming one

I like it, I like more the stealth looking black one, also the reassessed cameras look better but I wish they were positioned in the middle

I was all hyped for the Rog Phone 8... But I'm getting this.

I have a difficult time playing on a switch or even steam deck type device, and this has a smaller screen, but the snowfall looks cool

I want this phone but without al the gaming futures, I really like the disgine of the black version and love te full display without the Notch. This would be my next phone if it was that

I have the previous model which JUST came out this year....it's amazing!

As a low vision user, I really don't have a need for a gaming phone. However, it's really hard to deny how cool this phone is. If I had teenage children I would definitely purchase this and put it under the Christmas tree this year. LOL

i hope they put a dex mode in all phones from now on. the dock pc mode. it's kinda cropped when you use the adapter. They need to put the sd slot expanded memory feature back in. Maybe mini nvme option for this phone for example. i still got my rm s7 pro. it's ok.

same size as poco f3. It should be a lil bigger. W8ing for Redmagic X

the white one is kinda cool. and the shoulder triggers are just too good am jealous for those of you who have this phone

Tip: The lens module of this mobile phone is flat, and they use the glass on the back cover as part of the lens. it has a flat back like an iPhone 4.

headphone jack (check), micro SD (nope). also due to the "cooling system" I don't think it's been tested for waterproofness. SD card slot and a high IP rating are the only 2 things it needs. the under-screen fingerprint reader is pretty cool, not sure it was mentioned in the video.

The perfect phone with current technology for me would be redmagic hardware (excluding camera) with pixel software and camera.

Very interested in this gaming phone for sure, I like the black one, would play some racing games mostly

Hmm, I bet Homeworld Mobile would be great on that thing. I *love* the unbroken screen like Sony does on the Xperias.

My dream phone ever since 8 pro. I prefer axon 40 ultra and z50 ultra designs tho. 8 pro goes for 420 used around me atm, so they hold value well too

This and a pop-up camera may be a game changer. If only

If I want to run games in general but one of my main game is call of duty mobile what red majic should I get? The new one that came out that just came out which is the 9? Or an 8 and what’s the difference between like a normal one and a pro, as well as the ram and the names sleek and snowfall is there a difference?

Heck yeah!!! I'm not even gonna put a cellular sim in there or maybe one for just internet and block all calls.

i dont do mobile gaming. i just hate hole punches. i dont use the selfie cam either. so im seriously wanting one of these

thinking about it... i dont even really need a front facing camera. only time i really ever use it is when my daughter wants to video chat with me. even like a tiny 1 inch screen on the back of the phone and using the back camera would be enough for me.

You don't even use it as a portable mirror?

mine favorite is cyclone version and i never felt like i wanted something as much as i do right now towards this phone ...

The only thing that prevent me from getting a red magic phone is the lack of MicroSD card slot. (I use a massive MicroSD card to store all of my pictures, videos, movies, and games for emulators). If one day they get to include this slot, I could get one of these.

That ending fade to black / dissolve and the slight music tells me either you don't pay your editor enough, or there's a new guy 😅
