I've been having the worst time with this quest, for some reason I haven't been able to get crab meat to drop off crabs or to be sold by vendors, and the one piece I did find in some Shack I had already eaten

I didn't see anything online about a glitch that might cause it. A lot of people have had trouble with certain mods that seem to physically block some locations, but I think it might just be that meat is a little more rare, and you might just need to travel up and down rivers until it drops. When it actually came to getting the right fish for each quest, I think I spent hours in real life fishing every location I could, waiting 24 hours (in game), and doing it again.

@@Bjornication I can't get any of the crab meat to drop off the mudcrabs either. I've checked Xedit and nothing is touching the crabmeat, the Mudcrabs or their loot tables. A further look into the Creation kit shows there is a lvl'd loot table that contains crab LEGS, crab CHITIN AND CRAB MEAT but this loot table is NOT part of the mudcrab's inventory. So i dunno how the hell you're getting Crab meat to drop off these things.

Google is telling me there should be crab meat in a bowl, on a table, in the shack where you exterminated mad mudcrabs, west of Dawnstar. This one definitely stumps me though. Try beating mudcrabs to death with the fishing pole? Okay, I'm joking about the last one.

@@Bjornication Actually I just spend the last hour disabling all mods and re enabling one at a time. I have found the culprit. Without a doubt its Immersive Armors. I made a simple patch that forces the crab meat into the Fish barrels and mudcrabs.

I keep getting screwed over. I keep getting juvenile mudcrabs, wine bottles, empty bottles, abecean longfins and arctic greylings

There is a bit of a storyline, and some additional items at the end. It does end, but I don't remember if there will be endless fetch quests afterward--it's been a while.

If you’re finding trouble in waiting for Gisli to take her seat, then get out of the winking skeever then get inside again and wait for one hour. I did that and it worked. Note: disable immersive citizens and jk interior.

Great tip, I think I may have done that too. Immersive Citizens certainly seems to cause a lot of problems for this quest line, thanks for the info.

My quest doesnt launch when reading the note... Anyone know the console command to initiate the quest if the note doesn't work?

I have the same problem, you can try setstage ccBGSSSE001_Misc_Solitude 0 That should trigger the quest... But in my case it did not work so, idk :c

Uh... What? While almost none of my videos are intended to be "how tos," I've started showing map locations in later videos because of comments like these--this is just from the before time. Anyway, from another comment thread on the same video I replied: "Google is telling me there should be crab meat in a bowl, on a table, in the shack where you exterminated mad mudcrabs, west of Dawnstar." If it's butter, I just went around to all the small food merchants, and it's been so long since I played the quest, I don't even remember what other ingredients are needed. (I guess I could rewatch my own video if there's still a struggle.)

I don't get mud crab legs all the time how come?

I don't think anything lootable in Skyrim consistently drops everything it can drop.

Does anyone know where I can find butter in skyrim

Yes, the small merchants that sell food from, well, food covered stalls in the cities of Skyrim sell seemingly random food items; so just visit as many as you can until one has butter.
