    A couple best practices I've learned when using throwables: 1) have a teammate shoot as you light a fuse, often times the sound of the shot will cover up the initial fuse spark and you're able to cook it perfectly to get the kill on that pesky Hunter peaking the window 2) pop a fuse at around 97% on the banish timer and toss the bomb to land on the banishment as it finishes. The sound of the banish prevents hunters from hearing the fuse and can give you some easy opening kills as players rush to grab a boss token.

    Concertina bombs are amazing, I got a lot of practice using them in the last event where nobody burned. The one tap people in their range when the explode on contact, but you can hold them in hand silently as long as you want. They are great ambush weapons, you just prime one and hide near a doorway/window out of sight. When an enemy enters the adjacent area, just yeet it and they die instantly and can't easily be rezzed.

    Yeah, it is the only impact-activated throwable item which can straight-up kill people. Well, except throwing axes, but that doesn't really count. And even if you land out of the instant death radius of ? damage, they often get eaten by the wires and bleeding.

  • @jumblestiltskin1365

    Love getting taps with these myself. Work nicely sometimes if you can throw em on a bounty that's just finished banishing. If the enemy team haven't got a serpent option it's really irritating and there's a good chance you might catch them going for it after banish.

    I think Concertina bombs should have been talked about a bit more. "Least tangible value in a fight" is not something I would describe them as. You can get consistent kills with these landing one at a hunter's feet. It would have been interesting to learn more about the estimated kill radius these have. Also about how they deploy differently in tighter, and open areas.

    Compact ammo and shotguns can't shoot through a clump of wire for shit, and medium doesn't fare much better, but long ammo (and FMJs?) can shoot straight through like it isn't even there, especially with a bit of careful aim, so you can block a passage but then shoot through it when they can't really shoot back, depending on what weapons they're running.

    With the new trait removal, dauntless is the only trait Im sure to have 100% of the time. Lately it has gotten me more kills and saved me more times than explosives themselves. Not only does it allow me to keep my position, but a lot of people try and push their dynamite after a throw, and end up being the ones left in an disadvantageous position a lot of times. Assumingly because few people ever expect it. Not to mention you can dauntless chokebombs, since people always seem to love throwing those when they're out of everything else. Plus now that you can burn hunters with flares, I just dauntless it once the body is burning so I don't have to have my eyes burned out by it afterwards. Then maybe dauntless the choke bomb that that's probably going to show up to stop the burning hunter right after.

    My personal favorite has to go to the hive bomb, for all of the points you covered, with the addition that it also functions as the largest-coverage area denial tool for a very convenient duration. Need to locate your opponent? Hive bomb can track them better than you can. Need to block off a wide open area so you can heal without getting pushed? Hive bomb will make a noise when it spots an opponent, so you can't get caught off guard. Need to clear an area before pushing it, but already used your explosive? Hive bomb will disappear after 30 seconds. Even before the flash nerf, I preferred the bees. They're like the bomblance of throwables - simultaneously having a romero, a combat axe, and a frag bow in one weapon, or a dynamite, a flash, and a choke bomb in one convenient little green jar. Amazing.

  • @LeMicronaut

    @LeMicronaut

    Yeah, their worst aspect is the potential negative synergy, especially with randoms and limited communication ranges/privacy, but it has to be a solo's dream consumable for starting a fight. Only questions I had left from the video were how long it took hives to acquire a target (can you peek the swarm safely) and what were the target outcomes in unusual cases (both targets stand next to eachother then seperate after contact, does the hivebomb sweep in a particular direction , like do north players get targeted before south players at the same distance?) Is there a way to cancel a chase but keep the swarm alive and how long will it take to acquire a new target?

  • @sno-angel7540

    @sno-angel7540

    6 ай бұрын

    @@LeMicronaut 1) Yeah, they're not great for teams, but as someone who plays 90% solo that doesn't present an issue 2) Once a target is in view, the swarm locks on basically instantly, so you more have to play around the fact that you know where you threw the bomb and your opponents don't necessarily, as well as using cover to stop the swarm if you accidentally end up targeted 3) I'd have to do some testing, but I THINK the swarm prioritizes the closest valid target if multiple are in range, since its near impossible to be the EXACT same distance away it seems pretty consistent 4) If the swarm's target dies before the duration is over, it will hover in place and follow its original targeting behavior until its duration is up - so if you get it on one person, they run over towards their teammate, and you down them, the swarm should then target their teammate provided it can see them

    in my party i am the best grenade thrower (not bragging) and while during my 2k hours i already "feel" grenades very well, anyway i found this video helpful. some of my tips. 1. concertina bombs are actually great at killing in closed spaces. to effectively use them that way you have to have whispersmith perk 2. fusees can be used to actually go for kills with grenades. to do this you can throw decoy fuse randomly or at enemies location. in first case you cook real grenade right away and throw at enemy, who is clueless cus decoy fuse sound covers sound of real grenade. in second scenario enemy starts to run away and you can follow up with easily cooked grenade or shoot him down. i am very glad youve mentioned hellfire bomb, it was real menace all the time.

    I use explosives to prevent heals a lot, it's what I base one of my loadouts on. My springfield half bleed half normal with a pistol that has fmj. Tag with the springfield then cook a nade, it forces the person to decide whether they die from the explosive or the bleed. I also use decoy fuses to increase the number of times I can do this. Decoy fuses can be used as mind games, throwing them multiple times to get people to expect another decoy on the next throw only to throw a nade. This mind game has gotten me many kills in the past.

    Hives are amazing for a bleed followup. Their gigantic radius makes them work more consistent. Bleed em with a bow or springy, chuck the bees. 100% dead. They either stop bandaging to run/fight bees and die, or keep bandaging and get eaten by bugs.

    If you have a long passageway, you can throw a choke bomb at the entrance of the tunnel and place concertina wire further in. This way if someone wants to blast the wire with an explosive, the choke cloud will snuff the fuse as it passes through so it can't take out your wire. They'll have to use waxed dynamite instead, which is unaffected by water or choke clouds. Poison gas clouds apply separate damage ticks while staying in them. So if you lob several poison darts from a hand crossbow in the same spot, the enemy will take a lot more damage from each separate cloud. Poison gas can be combined with concertina wire. The wire will slow them down and make them stay in the cloud a lot longer, doing a lot more damage. By combining poison gas, concertina and choke in creative ways, you can create blockages that are extremely costly to remove or pass through.

    Wire can be cleared in a small area by Decoy Fuses, something to keep in mind when using Concertina Bombs. Decoy fuses deal 40 damage on explosion, and can open or destroy doors, whilst also providing the potential to clear an entry point with less risk to yourself, allowing a faster entry. Also with the ability to bring three for one slot, you can force a read by bringing two dynamite and making use of them in a fight. In closing, for one slot you can force enemies to reposition and make opportunities for yourself without wasting more effective consumables.

    Concertina deserved a mention in Read Punishing, especially if you silence the noisy equip sound with whispersmith. It's not as reliable as an explosion but if you land it close enough to someone they will almost certainly die. Favorite throwable for everything but movement forcing: the utility (cover, area denial, revive blocking) is so worth it, I almost always bring one.

    concertinas have incredible value as lethal options as well. Especially when engaging an opponent through a second story window either from inside or outside. Outside the bomb ends up landing just inside the window giving it a massive spread range and if they didn't start running immediately, or were busy shooting/getting shot at they may very well never hear the charge sound. From inside, when someone is rushing your compound you can safely throw a concertina without actually exposing and cover a pretty wide area, either trapping someone inside without their team or outside in the open. worst case scenario they act as conventional area denial, with the added bonus that they can not be shot through.

    Thanks for great informative video. Comparing to a heaps and heaps of hastily edited stream footage videos with clickbait titles, which comprises most part of hunt related video, it's a godsend. Infographics looks good. How did you measured distance on screenshots? I want also to add a few things: Concertina bomb best application is pinning down enemy bodies. With my brother we play against trio and always carry concertina because it allows us to secure any kill we get. There is no quick and quiet way to get out of concertina even with help, so body will stay until fight is over. They're as good as dead. It's like burning somebody down but instant and without counters. Also you can use it like portable cover for revive, for example. Or if you got caught in open. Nothing but fmj and long ammo penetrates concertina but with reduced dmg. For some reason nitro doesn't penetrate concertina at all. Idk why nobody uses them that way, they are essential for every fight. Chokes not just tool for fire, they great for agressive and defensive plays. They are making noise while cooking, explode even louder and hum after explosion. Explosion is so loud, you can hide anything if you time it right. If enemy chasing you, you can throw choke under your feet and turn 90 or even straight to enemy. You canthrow choke to the enemy and run back to it and hide at the edge of the cloud. Nobody expects someone sitting next to choke cloud and they won't hear you running at them behind the noise. You can throw it just like dynamite at enemy positions to flush them out because everybody avoid them like death. What's making chokes even better than dynamite and chaos bombs is that it's are garanteed to be looted because i's tool. So chokes are better chaos bombs in every way.

As far as I know, this isn't an intended feature, but I've been made bleeding and even died from them through walls more times than I can count. I posted this comment and then of course the last section covers this lololol

    movement forcing is one of the reason i love using decoy fuses on my melee builds. its so beautiful to catch the panicing hunters inside a compound im pushing. also funny enough until that video pointing out the nades not going through walls...I had just always assumed that was an upside of fragbombs >.< since they almost consistently hit through walls for and on me.

    Does Hellfire still burn a small bar vs salveskin or does it function like other Salveskin applications and get lowered by one "burn level" to just igniting them?

    Easy fix to pitcher trait. Pitcher should give the shorter range throwables range equivalent to all other throwables with pitcher buff included.

    Poison bombs are silent, quick to throw, and start dealing damage immediately so they're great at instantly denying things like windows, revives, and pathways. They also can just be thrown at people behind cover to immediately damage them, and they deal damage through map geometry so you can wallbang people with them even through thick cement. If they're trying to heal it can just kill them, then it automatically denies their body from being revived. If they don't have Antidote active and their teammate doesn't know there's a poison cloud they sometimes Necromancer them so they die to the cloud, but if they do have Antidote the cloud unfortunately doesn't do anything :steamsad:

    It's important to note that you can hear very specific differences in the way that the fuse sounds when it is successfully behind a wall vs when it is going to blow through the wall partially or entirely.

    Cool saberman tip- if your team mate is dead in the open throw some dynamite on him for a smoke screen. This gives you an opportunity for a revival. Most people don't expect this strategy.

    It's always been my experience that frag bombs are vastly more likely to penetrate walls than dynamite, though I have noticed dynamite doing it occasionally as well. Also, Decoy fuses have a higher pitched sound than other fuses, but most people in a fight either aren't going to notice or won't be confident enough to ignore them.

    I believe explosives are PRIMARILY used to kill, at least on console. Many players start ambushes with them, and unless you headshot them, you're guaranteed dead if they wait until you're close before cooking. You can run, but they'll just throw it where they hear the footsteps. The same issue exists when there's heavy visual cover, like foliage, or bulletproof, ceiling-high walls, as is common in some compounds. You'll hear the frag start cooking - and there's nothing you can do. You can run, but they'll then know exactly where to throw it. You can rush, which guarantees a trade. The way that most console players utilize explosives is detrimental to Hunt's core gameplay. edit: I also have to disagree on the effectiveness of hive bombs. They often times clip INTO the ground or whatever wall they hit, enabling enemies to stand within 5m of them without the bees seeing them. They also frequently lose targets - often times when bees are following me, I can round a corner and they simply stop pursuing me. Hive bombs seem much "dumber" than actual hive swarms.

    Funny that the meta with a less precise input method relies on revealing your position for 4 seconds and potentially killing yourself. My advice would be to just preemptively choke ambush spots or play choke beetle leap frog with a teammate. Pack a choke bolt and you have instant smoke. Shoot at your feet or if they are cooking behind a wall shoot the top of the wall, if they try a direct path to your steps, the fuse will get intercepted.

    Hey cornf great vid ! In fact one of the few realy usefull one in particular the use cases. I've made this comment with 3 things in mind, an "hidden" feature of the poison bomb, a fact an and a wish : -Poison bomb as far as i know have the veste wall Pen in the game meaning his effets can damange on thé other side of unpenetrabale stuff. Great for an op ener with high damage rifle or to kill an hunter holding a medkit "in cover". -Fact : comments boost a youtube video visibility. -Wish : remember at the end the list of scraped of script things ? I'm down for a part 2, Heck even a part 3 as there is so mutchxool little things ans nuances in this. I know it m'y be a bootle trowed on the sea but hey if you don't send it... Nobody will ever read it !

    Poison bomb getting increased to 8.5 minutes is a wild buff with its balancing factor being it does nothing against antidote shot which at higher Mmr almost everyone uses a 20min stim
