The Ultimate Driving Machine | 2017 BMW 750Li xDrive Full Tour & Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The BMW 7 Series will always be a special car for us here at TestDrive, and we got the chance to drive the G12 again to see how this new Ultimate Driving Machine performs on the road. Read our full review: goo.gl/7cz8VK
Special thanks to BMW Sherbrooke and Groupe Park Avenue for helping make this episode of TestDrive Spotlight possible. Find out more about them at: groupeparkavenue.com/en/bmw-s...
Our first drive with the G12 BMW 7 Series was back in early 2016 when we filmed the 7 Series Evolution video with the E38, E65, F02, and G12. We drove that car briefly but we wanted another taste of BMW's Ultimate Driving Machine, so we asked BMW Sherbrooke if we could film theirs. Our full tour and review of this 2017 BMW 750Li xDrive goes over as many features as possible, including the executive package, executive lounge tier 1, ambient air package, ceramic iDrive controls, skylounge panoramic sunroof, and much more.
We also take the G12 on a drive around Sherbrooke to talk about it's performance, ride, and comfort. After our drive we sit in the back seat executive lounge to see what features this $134,000.00 CAD car has for it's rear seat occupants. We end off with a quick wrap up of the car and what we liked and disliked about the 7 Series.
Our 7 Series review is as comprehensive as possible, going over some of the most important elements of this car, such as the ambient lighting, iDrive system, quad-zone climate control, heated, ventilated, and massaging seats, power side window sun shades, LED lighting throughout, 360º bird's eye view camera, park distance control, and that 4.4L N63 twin turbo V8 engine.

    Love how the Infotainment system doesn't lag. Don't know why companies don't prioritize fixing lag. Love your work as always.

    It was easily one of the most responsive we've used, one of the reasons we continue to like iDrive over everything else. We'd be curious to see how the system runs with the rear monitors and tablet functioning, not sure if they share the same computer system or each screen is independent.

    As a former '01 E38 (sport) I always love the bigger luxury car reviews. The problem with the 7-series is that , like mine (287km) buying the used is the cheap part AND eventually, (though 287km is some distance for any car).... all 7 series end up being worth much less than $5,000. Great review, I hope a G80 review is in the future. Thanks for the video.

    That's very true, and we're thinking to incorporate something to talk about the depreciation of these cars coming up! We're also hoping to get Genesis at some point, we don't think it'll be too hard since we know the team managing the fleet out here.

    We still love the look of a facelift W220, but the W221 was iffy even though it follows a similar design. We haven't had the chance to drive the W222 yet, but we're hopeful that this episode will get us one step closer to getting one!

    For some reason BMW decided to only sell the long wheelbase models in the USA, but dropped the L from the badging. So all 2016+ 7 Series models are long versions, but badged as if they were short. No clue why.

  • @PRNTestDrive

    @PRNTestDrive

    6 жыл бұрын

    Personally if my E38 was absolutely mint, everything worked flawlessly, I would choose it over the G12 only because of it's heritage, people instantly recognize it thanks to the exposure it's gotten in media over the decades. The G12 has so much going on for it though, and it really enhances what luxury is in comparison.

    nice review as always Nile. How has reliability been on the seven series since the dreaded Bangle era cars? Also I've never been in a car with massage seats, are they any good? Or are they just a vibrating sensation?

  • @PRNTestDrive

    @PRNTestDrive

    6 жыл бұрын

    Great questions. I think like any luxury flagship (Lexus excluded) maintenance is going to be insane. All the tech in this car has the potential to break down and repairs will definitely be expensive. Our E38 is relatively straight forward, even we could work on it if we had the right tools, but something like this is really going to be limited to dealerships. I can't imagine an indie shop wanting to work on something like this. We didn't have a chance to use the massaging seats in depth, at least compared to the Cadillac. As far as we could tell there were only 3 presets for the driver, but BMW's website mentions 8. We're hoping to have the chance to get one on loan later this year so we can have much more time with this, the car really deserves it!

    luxury german car logic: fells so nice when new, broke your wallet when warranty expired luxury asian car logic: good but not amazing when new, doesn't broke your wallet when warranty expired the last full size bmw with resonable reliability was probably the E60, a friend of mine purchased a 10 yrs old 250k km e60 but it works without major issue, im sure i cant say the same for a g30 10 years from now

    We love these newer cars, but I feel like they're more disposable than the old ones. Our E38 has been alright, but it isn't cheap to keep it running either. I expect these new ones to cost much more, and few people will bother with them.

    BMW’s are great cars but hit the bucket at resale. All of them do bc the cost of repairs is astronomical. If money is no problem and performance is top priority, BMW is the bullseye! P.S. they are definitely fun to drive!

  • @PRNTestDrive

    @PRNTestDrive

    6 жыл бұрын

    Agreed! There's so much technology going into these cars now that repairs down the road are going to be hard hitting for consumers. Most people only lease these during their warranty people and upgrade to the newest model after, avoiding any repairs out of pocket. It's the second owner that's going to have to deal with it.

    any car that expense even if it’s a Honda if they make Honda for 120k 5 years from now also will he just as cheap as this no difference has nothing to do with what make it does not matter depreciation goes to any car any make and they will all deprecate more I’m not sure why people think it’s only German even if it’s a Honda or Toyota same thing when people say Honda holds value is because your looking at 20k 25k car not 120k car lol go but a Honda for 120k see how fast that car will lose value way way more then any other make
