    I’m a tall guy with larger wrists at around 7.5inches. I tried this watch on a few days ago and it felt perfect on my wrist. For some reason I’ve been more attracted to the smaller sized watches lately and this watch felt super comfortable despite the thickness and weight. I’ve never been a fan of the helium escape valve but after trying it on i think it looks ok. I think for the price and spec, its an amazing watch. Thanks for the great review.

    I really enjoy the unpretentious tone on your reviews. As a person with 6.5 inch wrist who have recently get into diver watches I looked into this Omega model but got the BB 58. Then I became one of the three people on earth who didn't enjoy the BB58 and settled for longines 39mm hydroconquest (older model) and I love it. I know BB58 seems to be the go to but it wasn't for me and this Omega might be too thick for my taste. Enjoy your reviews alot, keep it up!

    Nice review, and useful as I have a very similar wrist size. I was thinking about the Black Bay 58 but haven't tried on one yet. I did try the Seamaster Diver 300m No Time To Die on, with the Nato strap, and it wore surprisingly well. I was looking at the smaller Planet Ocean in the window but it looked strangely small next to the 43mm version, will have to try on one soon. Watches that look a reasonable size in a dealers window suddenly seem comically large when strapped onto my spindly wrist.

    Hi Sanjay Thank you so much for another great video! I always tend to seek the 8500/8900 and didn't look into the 39.5 planet oceans, but I was surprised it wasn't that bulky. I thought your video really brought light to how good this watch is. I felt this could co-exist with marine masters, if not an upgrade to that. Nice view shot by the way!

    I tried on a 39.5 PO and was surprised at how well it wears for 14mm thick. Just comes to show that measurements are not always absolute. So many people judge this particular version of the PO as being too thick on paper without ever trying it on. The larger sized PO's however wear very large and heavy. You almost need a 7in+ wrist to pull those off.

    This is a nice video showing the detail of the watch. I spent months going back and forth as to whether 39.5 or 43.5 would be best. I have a smallish wrist (slightly larger than yours), but my Seamaster Diver 300 doesn't look too big on my wrist. I think this is probably because 1) I mostly wear a Fitbit Ionic which has conditioned me to larger faces, and 2) I have larger hands. I FINALLY went to the Boutique and had a look at the watches in person, and decided that I was fine with the 43.5. I'm confident I'll be banging it on walls and will have trouble getting through doorways, but my left arm will be jacked as a result of my wearing 1/2 a can of soda on my wrist.

  • @engineer_wannabe

    Do you still have your Planet Ocean and any regrets getting the 43mm version? I'm in a similar position, small wrist (6.5") and currently have a Seamaster 300 amongst my collection. I was thinking of getting the smaller PO, but worried it might be too small for me (particularly the dial given the bezel width) as I'm used to wearing larger pieces.

    I’ve had a couple PO’s in different sizes, struggled with the thickness on both but then I found a titanium model. If you have a hard time with thickness and weight I recommend looking into the titanium, it’s crazy light (100g) and thinner 👍

    Wonderful review. Back in 2014 I purchased the 42mm P.O. and sold it last year as I just found it too big for my 6.5" wrist. I replaced it with the 41mm Omega Aqua Terra and sold that as well. Still too big and really like the P.O. style more. After watching your excellent review I just sold the Aqua Terra and picked up the 39.5mm. The small size is great but the 45mm lug to lug and smaller height of 14.16mm vs 16mm on the 42 makes a big difference. You stated you have a lot of 19mm watch bands. Which companies have you found a good selection of 19mm that offer a short length option?

    Love the styling of the watch, love it he movement, and I love that it had on the fly adjustment. Unfortunately I have found thickness and weight are pretty crucial for comfort. I can’t find myself wearing anything other than my Oris 65 because of how lightweight and thin it wears (even though it is technically 13mm thick, it truly wears like a 9-10mm thick watch)

  • @engineer_wannabe

    @engineer_wannabe

  • @praetor47

    @praetor47

    agreed. thinness, weight and caseback/lug geometry are crucial. that's why i had a MM300 for only a couple of months (and why most Seikos suck, despite the usually short lug2lug) and was disappointed when i tried this P.O. at the local boutique... and ended up with a BB58 (which i wear as a daily on a Nick Mankey hook strap. easily the most comfortable combo i have ever tried, by far)

I'm torn between the two watches you showed here, the Omega Seamaster Professional Planet Ocean 39mm and the Black Bay 58 39mm. Do you see any differences in terms of ease of serviceability? Personally I think omega really have to think about refinement when it comes to their dive watches . For the most part they are thick and heavy ..I also feel there’s a clunky ness about them . Perhaps this wears a little better than the others . Would love to see them put proper focus on weight thickness, and looking to upgrade and taper their bracelets . I own the smp 300 and the non tapering uncomfortable bracelet is a deal breaker for me the watch feels heavy and clunky on wrist . Feel this would definitely look better with a tapering bracelet . Nonetheless it’s still a great watch .

Tried in on first at a Omega Boutique on the leather but wasnt convinced. Then went back a week later and ask them ahead of time to put it on the bracelet and really bonded with it. Also have a black BB58 and Rhodium Yachtmaster so there different form factors. Its a watch that really needs to be tried on. I have the 37.5 and you are right about the grey bezel and the dial has a matte black finish but its the 8520 movement 50 hr power reserve with a tapered bracelet no micro adjust however..and the date is in the same place as this one its my daily driver…. And if you find a 37.5 mm be sure to pick it up they’re going up in price bought mine new for 3975 now they’re 4 and change used

    Great Video and watch ⌚ but the weight takes it out of ultimate contender for a Diver on a small wrist. IMHO

    It's not too bad, really. 165g for me on a sized bracelet...great on a sailcloth strap too 👍😀

    I’m really surprised you like this so much better than the BB58! I’m torn between these two watches as I have a tiny 15.5cm wrist. If the BB had a t fit clasp I’d get it in a heartbeat. I am really worried a planet ocean would be too thick (case and bracelet) and stick out too much so I lean towards the conservative BB58.

    I just looked at this watch in blue yesterday. I wasn’t fond of the smaller size, I like a chunkier watch. What really threw me off with it was the bezel. The action was very ratchety and there was a lot of slop. Honestly, my Phylida bond watch has much better action and is super tight, no slop to speak of. I ended up buying the speedy sapphire sandwich. Edit: I did not like the 18mm bracelet at all.

    All is well, my friend. Thank you very much! From my teen years. Watches wasn't what gave me peace. It was religion (specifically Jesus Christ) but that's a whole other story. Glad to hear you are well and I hope you continue to be well :)
