In this video, I'll take a look at the excellent new 75th Anniversary Edition of the OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean. In doing so, I'll also address the entire idea of the Planet Ocean as a collection. Once OMEGA's flagship diver, the Planet Ocean doesn't seem to be getting as much love in 2023. However, I'm prepared to argue this watch deserves its place in the sun. What do you guys think of the PO in 2023?

I just got it.... been wanting a high end watch since I was 16, and now, I finally achieved this dream. Going by pictures, I wanted the standard blue version, especially since it has a display case. But when I got the opportunity to try the summer blue version, I just caved and bought it on the spot. It's fantastic. And looks cool, even on my extremely skinny wrist 🙂

@@ilpraghese337 Hello. I am the "K" from above. Probably not, your wrist is smaller than mine. I have issues with all Omega bracelets being adjustable enough to fit my small wrist. The 19mm lug to lug limits the replacement straps you can get that fit. The diameter of the case is a great fit for me, the thickness, however, is a different story. It will slide under the sleeve of a fleece but never disappear under a shirt cuff. Don't let that stop you going and trying one on.

I've owned a PlanetOcean since 2010. It's a tank. Indestructible. I never take it off. Not for diving obviously, but even when performing the most gruelling tasks in the yard, in construction, anything. Other than the minor scratch, it looks like new. Had it maintained for the first time earlier this year (by Omega), and it's ready for many more years. My son is asking me if he can get it as an early inheritance...

Great story, glad to hear of high end watches really being put to the test so they can show us how tough they really are. As for your son, it will be alot more special to him when your gone. Obviously the choice is yours but id say definitely dont give it to him early.

I own a Diver 300M in white, so I'm an Omega fan. I think this Planet Ocean is the star of the 75th anniversary models by a significant margin. It just looks so relaxed and so right. Like a 15 year old pair of faded Levi's, a classic song by the Eagles, playing on the radio, or driving a classic convertible with the top down on a sunny day.

I have one of these. Love it. The Lume is rather week and like all Omega bracelets it doesn't quite adjust small enough to be comfortable on my 6 and a 1/2 inch wrist. The dial is spectacular, shifting from grey to bright light blue to a deeper blue. The contrast of the hands and depth of dial makes it remarkably easy to read the time in low light, just as well considering the rubbish lume on it. In summary, Don't Buy One. I want mine to stay rare and be worth a fortune in years to come because people to didn't realise just how good they were at the time. My Planet Ocean Summer Blue has become my go to watch.

Omega has timed the release of this watch perfectly: it's becoming available for customers to purchase in mid-to-late fall and winter, the precise times at which the demand for summer-themed anything is at its lowest. Well done, Omega, well done. Ok, I've mocked what I wanted to, now I'll say that I really do like the watch. It's not perfect (too much brushing, hate the He escape wart, not quite enough power reserve for this much money as Teddy pointed out) but it is, on the whole, very nice. I'm seriously considering one and will only be able to make up my mind when I see it in-the-metal, so to speak, and can try it on.

PO in 39.5 is my daily desk diver. At 14.4mm it wears great under a shirt cuff, and is not too thick at all. The He escape valve adds character and heritage: how many of us have complications on our watches we don’t really need any more: chronographs, moonphases etc. that serve a purpose to other users? The tech specs, design, legibility and wearability mean the PO gets the most wear from my collection.

Just bought the Summer Blue Diver 300M version a few days before this video, so I'm very relieved to see Teddy's approval! I know people say this about every watch, but the official photos for the Diver 300M really don't do the dial justice at all. It has a striking holographic and fume aesthetic that I wasn't expecting. In combination with the blue lume markers and date window, it looks like it's underwater. I'm glad I saw it in person, because I think some of these releases are really unique.

Thanks for the video👍, great review. I do love the colour but the black and orange is still my favourite with the white face/orange bezel close behind as the bezel incorporates Lume, why can’t they do that with all the bezels! I do however think that Omega are missing a trick! The PLANET OCEAN is an iconic watch but not every one wants a 14mm thick watch, like Tudor have done with the Pelagos, make a thinner version waterproof to 200/300m, more of a multi sport watch, seriously, how many people actually use these watches at 600m!! The Seamaster is a good watch but it is not the Planet Ocean, I would buy a thinner one with less depth ability, it would fit under a shirt sleeve better and make a lot of people happy.

If Omega could slim these down by 2-3mm in relation to other such divers (Rolex, Glashutte Original, etc...) they'd be fantastic! Also, why the 19mm bracelet size vs a more standard 20mm... many more options available for that. Nick-picking I know, but for what Omega is charging for these they should make it closer to perfect.

It is most certainly a stunning piece,as for the polarizing feature ,get over it !! It’s there for a reason . As for the size 39.5 is a nice one size fits all ,but it’s actually the 1 feature that makes me hesitate to buy it . I would prefer the 43 mm but in titanium , because unlike most of the desk divers that will buy it I’m an actual diver who will use it for its intended purpose .

So bummed that they didnt release this in 43.5, a 39.5 is too small for my 7.75" wrist. Sadge, such a beautiful watch.

Great video. Nitpicking: ZrO2 is letter O not zero. O2 stands for dioxide.

My old bond Seamaster was 11mm thick....I appreciate this is 600m depth rating, but I would really love these to be at the 12-12.5mm thickness.... too chunky for me unfortunately

The Planet Ocean is the forgotten Omega dive watch. Everyone focuses on the Bond mostly, but the features and design of the Planet Ocean are unique. ❤

ive always loved the look of the Planet Ocean over the seamaster 300. I feel the 300 looks very dated in design. This watch just looks way better and has a much more modern design that i never get tired of looking at.

I would have bought one no question asked if it was a black or red sunburst shade to compliment my 39.5mm black.

What's most silly about the He release valve is that you can unscrew the crown and let the He out that way.

Looks great, but i would rather have the date window at 6, and framed - or no date at all.

I like the planet ocean handset but prefer the symmetry offered by the dial and bezel of the seamaster professional 300m diver. The date placement and having a 10 on the bezel makes the difference for me😂
