I have a 2005 2500 HD Duramax extended cab 6 1/2’ box. Four years ago I had 2 new front fenders, cab corners, rockers and rust repairs to the box wheel openings and a new gas filler door. I don’t winter drive it much but the repairs have held up well.

Congratulations on your cooperation, the way to modify the car is very neat

I would not surprised if this is a 15-20k dollar paint job. I’ve painted a whole truck before and it was definitely very involved

Mill supply out of Cleveland Ohio had a ton of rust repair parts. That’s who we go through

He made that primer job easy i would have so many runs

Hood lip rust? Blast it, and epoxy, THEN use Cavity wax INSIDE. good for 15 years.. Year we got salt here.. been here and done it

I have a 2001 GMC hood with a small ding in front of it. I’m in SW Florida. The truck has been in Fl. Since 2002

You will save a pile of money making a trip to Texas or New Mexico for a cat eye truck 😂

Hang in there it's coming along. Now cut a big hole in that hood and stack your exhaust lol just kidding. Three's a charm and it worked out. It's getting there.

It still can be. Everyday truck. We just have to make. It as nice as we can. Then it's. Up to Josh how. He takes care of it

I have a question of truck and I bought a used bed with no cracks in it and no rust for 400 bucks.

Lol. Yeah all the black is high build epoxy hybrid primer. It's to seal the metal before any final body work and then is reprimed and blocked. Then sealer, base, and clear.

So how much money would you have saved had you went to the bodyshop first? That's the question..

If it’s rusted out and I’m trying to get a professional paint job then the hood is bad. We have all seen worse but I’m not trying to cut corners at this point.

I know youre getting the youtuber discount because the shop is getting the marketing out of this, but genuinely curious how much all this work would be for joe schmo? Im guessing this is like $20k worth of work??

Easy. 20K.. The rocker job along has to be 1.5K between hours/material. The paint is prob another 2K-3K but the man hours has to be north of a few hundred.. Rust repair is the black hole of body work

Yeah it would be a lot. But heck most new trucks. Are 80-100k or. More now. Definitely would. Have to way out all the options. Someone else stated using a southern cab. That would be. A great alternative to fixing a bunch of rust. But swapping cabs could be just as pricey depending on paint choices and condition etc

We could have cut out the front and put in some mesh grilles. The rust was through the hood. From inside

You should have got a fiberglass cowl induction hood . Or just a cowl hood. Robby Layton puts these guys to shame. They don't wanna do any real metal work
