Oh my word. Mushu’s little face, he was concentrating sooo hard during your ‘tackless’ ride. He was like, “if I do good I’ll have more treats” 😍🤣🤣🤣🤣 ⭐️ ❤

To me, liberty shows that happy horses are partners, not slaves. The horses can stop whenever they want to. They 'do' because they want to, not because they have to. Brings a tear of joy to my eye, too.

They did not have Liberty when I was a girl! The mere concept is so far from the type of control we were taught to exert. The mere concept that horses could do what you ask of them voluntarily is amazing and magical! Perhaps if you grew up doing a lot of groundwork, or if you think of circus horses doing tricks, it might just seem like an extention of what you already do, it might not be so surprising. But to someone who had “English” riding lessons as a young person, this is just a tremendous development!🌟❤️🥰

@@MsWarriordiva No one in the ‘50’s or ‘60’s thought of standard riding as inhumane. In fact, I’m not sure it is! It has its place; as bitless, tackless, and Liberty have their place. The military and police (cavalry wasn’t always tanks) relied on horses to help them do their jobs, even under wartime conditions-they would be foolish not to use bridles with bits! Horses can startle at little things, and the safety of the rider is paramount, along with the ability to control the horse in such a way as to fulfill the mission. The guards at Buckingham palace would be foolish to avoid using bits. Even most parade horses require greater rider control, in the interests of public safety. Bitless, tackless, and Liberty work are fine at home-especially trail rides ON EXPERIENCED RELIABLE MOUNTS-or in certain aspects of horse shows. It’s all cool, but let’s not go too far.

I did ground work with mine when I was a kid (had to look up how in a book) and if I came home from school and my horse was having a sunshine bath in her pasture, I would lay down between her two sets of legs with my head on her belly. But we didn’t have anything like Liberty.

Always a lovely morning with the sweetest, charming Mushu. Especially, when he is in a training session. Also, with the added fun of sparkling glitter. A shining start to the morning!!! Mushu is doing so well with liberty training, some tools, plenty of encouragement and being in the moments of connections with Shae. He is so affectionate and willing to learn. Came as a yearling, plus months, and now a young 5 year ago old guy full of promise! We love you Mushu! You are amazing, smart, lovable, affectionate, a best buddy and a happy sociable family member!! 💗🐎💗 ♥️♥️♥️

Thing is he does know what she is asking. There was only one thing she asked of him for the first time and he did it flawlessly. She has built up his knowledge from very small steps so he does understand what she is asking. ❤

No small hugs for Mushu. He may be shorter than the other geldings, but any hugs for him are big hugs. He’s built like a tank! 👍🏼🐴

I Really think you should put on horse shows, that shows everything you stand for and do at Free Spirit Equestrian. I think it would really impact the horse and handler and the Equestrian world as a whole!!!❤❤❤❤

Royal Blue is definitely Mushu’s color! He is so smart and you have done great work with training him. He is so loving and I believe your horses mirror the love from you. So amazing!

You and Mushu have a lot to be proud of. It's fun to see his spicier side as he works liberty. I think this is the best way to see how sharp and attentive he can be when he's "on".

Mushu has matured so much since he came to you. And his bow was lovely. The liberty work seems very important to developing a working relationship with a horse.

Mushu, truly looks at you like he loves you soo much. And he tries to please soo much. You should just see his eyes and how he looks at you when your training him. He is such a sweet horse.

Fun fact, I recently discovered that a horses mane stays on the side of their "lead" leg, the one they tend to start with, or, their stronger leg. When the mane is on both sides, I would assume the horse is fairly balanced with leading either leg first. Yes, and the dominant side can swap with a leg injury. I found that interesting. Oh yeah, love love love what you are doing here - go Mushu!

I love his bow so much more than when they go down on one knee. It's so much more graceful to watch, as well as less stress on his joints. I always feel pain in my knee when I watch a horse bow down on one knee.

Mushu is my favorite of your horses, he has come a long way with his calm sweet willing nature, and your premier training methods. He reminds me of the horse I learned to ride on, she was the size and shape of Mushu w color and markings like a Dartmoor/ Exmoor Pony, Coco was wonderful. This was in the mid and late 60s.
