Is the 2204 (either the original or the Wangs) the ultimate 1980's Metal Guitar Amp? What say you?

I got the Wang's 5W and thing is a goddamned honey badger of tiny amps. 100% would buy again. If you think Chinese built stuff is junk, Wang's amps will change your mind.

I have 3 Wangs amps. The 2204 was the last one I grabbed. I also have the 5 watt Mini head and the OD-30. All amazing amps that excel at different things. Can't afford the Marshall JCM800? WANGS is very close. Voiced a bit different, but there is no denying it's roots. Fantastic rock amp, especially for the 80's tones. Even if you can afford the original, I feel like with an amp like the Wangs 2204, there isn't much reason to spend all that money. The Wangs is hand wired. The JCM800, they aren't. Other than custom shop builds and special limited runs, Marshall hasn't hand wired a production amp since the 1970's. OD-30... its a modified Fender Bandmaster. Clean channel is hard to beat. Dirty channel has its uses; but I bought it for the clean channel. Mini 5 - great for getting vintage tones at low volumes. I put my 1973 SG into it and turned it up to 10 and pretty much nailed the tones on Alice Cooper's No More Mr Nice Guy.

Just ordered one of these. Between it, a PRS Archon 50 and a Peavey Classic 20, I think my desired amp tones are covered. The biggest surprised was the Peavey. Classic rock for days.

That’s the 80’s tone that I love so much. Very Judas Priest, but fuller sounding. Love it! Thanks for the great advice. I should have waited before posting my comment. He plays Breaking The Law, just to prove my point 🙂 There’s a very old Guido Bergenstck (spelling?) on the right exchange called Powerball, which I tweaked to similar effect.

Thank you for your kind words. I’m really enjoying these sounds. Eventually I’ll have all of my amps liquid profiled and hopefully will have them up for sale soon. If the rest turn out good that is. Thanks for watching!

I know. I will say in the past I’ve had an amp that wouldn’t profile right, but that was years ago and I didn’t have nearly the setup I have now. I’m not gonna say what amp it was cause I want give it a try again. Thanks for watching and for your kind words!

I very much would like to see ya explain Kemper settings, dialing in tones, using the effects loop right and effects pedal order. I greatly would appreciate a RIG MANAGER tutorial.

Excellent Video, thank you. When you are playing through a 2-12 or 4-12 cabinet do you have kemper cone button enabled or disabled?

I don’t recall for sure but I believe the Kone buttons is off. What I recorded for the video was the Kemper direct into my interface. Thanks for watching!
