The ULTIMATE 3 days in DEATH VALLEY National Park!

Death Valley National Park is the largest national park outside of Alaska, with over 3 million acres to explore. And in our opinion, it is one of the most unique and diverse national parks in the United States! We spent 3 days trying to see as much of the park’s highlights as we could and had a blast!
A few things we forgot to mention in this video that may be helpful for your planning:
-There is hardly any cell service in the park, so download offline Google Maps and AllTrails maps in advance. We got a little bit of service near the Furnace Creek Visitor Center and had great Verizon LTE at Dante's View!
-Fuel up beforehand! If you think gas prices are bad where you are, just wait until you see the prices in Death Valley 😜 (Beatty, NV had more normal gas prices at the time of our visit)
-There is a max vehicle length of 25 feet for Dante’s View and the Artist Palette Drive.

Wow I didn't realize y'all upgraded to the FX-3! That is a sweet camera. Do y'all use ND filters at all? And do you follow the 180 rule or just run-and-gun mostly? I have always been told to do the 180 rule but I feel like it slows me down for vlog style videos.

@@jamiebuckleyphotography We love the FX3! Was a scary purchase for the wallet haha, but we are super happy with it! We have been using ND filters, but not always a huge fan. Still trying to learn how to use it properly (we have variable ones). We are shooting at double our frame rate, but that’s a new thing since we got the camera. Before we just did auto settings, but then learned of the rule and thought we’d try it out for now! Still very much filming newbs 😂

WOW! I've watched all 230 of your videos and this video was easily in the top 5! Fantastic sound blended with all the beautifully captured natural surroundings; really makes me want to get right out there and hike all of it. There are a lot of videos that will say, "Here are the top 10 things you need to see in such and such national park...," but you essentially did that while telling a story, which is much better. Even before I watched the video, I was at work, briefly saw that the video had dropped, and recommended it to a colleague who has been saying she wants to go to Death Valley. Y'all make me proud that I did!

We just went there. The Badwater basin is actually covered in water now. I’m guessing from Hurricane Harvey. Darwin Falls and Crowley were both closed due to road construction (there is a stretch of road about 5 miles long where you have to be escorted).

Wow! Another great video:). Every NP you visit that I have visited makes me want to go back. You do find all the best places. I was hoping you would have gone to Racetrack too. I did Death Valley with my daughter probably a decade ago in July! It was so hot you literally felt like you couldn't breathe especially in the Basin. Thanks for sharing your amazing travels!

I got to enjoy my vacation all over again watching your video! We returned a week ago from spending 5 days at DVNP. We saw everything you saw except the crater. We also enjoyed hikes south of Badwater Basin. There were less people down that way and we felt like we had the park to ourselves. These hikes were Willow Creek (with a very nice water fall at the end); Sidewinder Canyon (with 6 slot canyons to explore); and Room Canyon. All can be found on AllTrails. Also, the mountains were very colorful down that way, too. We also enjoyed spending a day exploring Emigrant Canyon Rd and the old mines and charcoal kilns located off that road. I also felt like a kid on the Mesquite Sand Dunes! Oh, and we were pleasantly surprised by how unique and cool the Twenty Mule Team Canyon Scenic Drive was; would highly recommend. Artists Palette reminded me of an ice cream sundae! :).

Would love to see you guys do a "Day in the Life of Kona" episode. Especially since you make the national/state park scene with a dog work. A lot of people w/ dogs avoid parks all together, which is a shame. Would be nice to see how you address the nitty gritty details of keeping Kona in the van during hikes he can't go on; the dog products you use to make him comfortable during life on the road (ie. outdoor trampoline bed - how you store it in the van, etc.); how you address keeping his dog food consistent from various locations; does he have a routine, etc.?

The Ubehebe crater? Such an awesome name! Very much appreciated the joke of the lake name, plus the sun light when you were down there was all kinds of pretty! 😍 The Golden Canyon hike was beautiful, and a pretty cool and unexpected view where it pushed you out, but the Mosaic Canyon was my favourite thing from this video. First there was the epic scrambling you guys had to do... love a bit of scrambling, but I also I had no idea that rocks like the mosaic ones naturally existed. When we were choosing tiles for our bathroom, I really wanted terrazzo tiles which look a bit like what were in the canyon... but they were so expensive we decided against it. Love that you guys have a little vacation gifted to you by subscribers 🙌
