I did something similar but I got the 1000ml pot with a frying pan. Not sure how practical the pan is but I like having a bigger pot for when I'm not soloing. I also got the 550ml cup for day hikes or super minimalist trips with an alcohol stove. The like the customizability of the kit. Great video!

Well done! Also the Toakes 550ml will fit inside of the Toakes "Light"700ml pot with the long handles. With the fuel canister inside the 550 the lid on the 700 won't fit in top though. Could go on the bottom of the stuff sack though. My current setup is the Toakes 750ml pot, BRS stove, MSR mini piezo igniter, 24"x12" Wildhorn Outfitters hand towel, Sea to Summit collapsible mug ( fits perfectly inside the 750ml pot) and a 4 oz fuel canister. ALSO I made a slide on coozy or if Reflectix for the 750 to insulate it when using it as a mug and it works awesome. It all fits inside the the stuff sack that came with the 750ml pot!

Your setup seems very good to me, though for my personal needs I tend to want something like soup for dinner. I would end up with a larger pot/bowl, like maybe an MSR Seagull (stainless steel and heavy). Still for your purposes, it looks like the choices you made are very good. Thanks for showing us all the video and telling us the logic behind it.

Great video. I was using a Toaks 1100ml pot and pan with a 450ml cup nesting with a bottle. After watching your video, ordered the two bowls, which nest perfectly, and the 550ml pot. It's the most versatile setup ever. I can take it all if wife and kid join me, or leave the bowls and 1100ml pot at home if going solo. Haven't received it yet, but looking forward to try it out. Toaks really nailed it with their diameters available. 👍

  • @60400

I've received what I missed to make this set now. It's perfect. Just a heads up though, adding the 100mm will fits with this set, but the 550ml pot and the 100mm diameter bowl is a VERY tight fit. The bowl gets scratched with the folded handles of the pot taking it in and out. I wish the 100mm bowl was just a tiny bit wider. If instead of 100mm it was 102, it'd be no issue.

It appears that hikers are always looking to lighten and improve there cooking system , including myself. You have a really nice complete system for yourself. I tend to go a lot more bare bones with a single pot and use alcohol as a fuel. A few days ago I lucked out and found a new 3.2 oz Toaks outdoor 700 Titanium Wide Mouth Pot with the lid on sale for $18.50. I plan on using it with a 1.2 oz Evernew Titanium burner and a .5 oz Evernew X stand. The pot was just to good of a deal to pass up.

I kind of wish I could find that nesting mug or something similar on its own to use with the less expensive titanium pot I got on AlliExpress. You can find regular sizes of titanium pots for half the price there, many of which seem to be the same design as Toaks but labeled differently. They've worked fine for me so far. The brand I've gotten was Tomshoo, I believe, but they kind of rotate the generic brands so don't necessarily just look for that specific brand. They do have titanium bowls on there, but the edges seem to round in, so that inhibits the ability to nest inside it cleanly. Also, a lot of people seem to like the idea of that BRS stove. All I can say is that I ordered one, it worked for only about 2 minutes, and never fired up again. I'm sure it was just a lemon, but once you start questioning the quality control of a product, you begin to be afraid that you might end up eating dry ramen at 14000 feet, so I went with the MRS PocketRocket2 to be on the safe side, even though it's about 2.5x the weight. So, you win some, you lose some, when it comes to trying to get by on the cheap. I've definitely developed a sense of where you can scrimp and where you have to spend over the past year or so. And combined with what I had previously, I've got about 3 complete camp set-ups now, of various weights! Just what a single guy needs. :D

@iPac9mm Same handles. However, Toaks did add a long folding handles variation of their 900ml pot to their line-up. They currently sell both. I did end up making a similar set-up to the one shown in the video. (And I wish I had gotten the new variation of the 900ml pot instead of the older one.) With a few changes though. Since the bowls were discontinued, I bought a small Ti pan/lid with folding handle from Toaks designed to fit their 900ml pot. The pan/lid can also be used as a small bowl. That did cause the height of the cook-kit to increase. However, the increased room inside allowed me to put in everything I wanted. Namely all the same contents our host put into his modified Stanley cook-kit from a different video. I'll be showcasing my variation (along with giving credit where it's due) on my KZread channel in the near future.

Really nice set. I'm also a fan of Toaks. I've been carrying the 650mL as my primary cookpot/eating vessel with essentially the same ingredients as you and a reflectix pot cozy on the outside. Recently bought my first Snow Peak (900 w/ frying pan lid)...and thought it was horrible. Keeping the pan lid on the pot while nesting it was impossible. The nearly identical Toaks 1100mL is virtually the same size and the lid snaps on securely. 1100mL is overkill for solo use, but I'm not a UL guy... willing to carry extra weight or bulk to be comfortable. Case in point: I carry a Pariah double wall titanium mug JUST FOR COFFEE/COCOA. It obviously won't nest with my cookset, but it does nest with my water bottles. I'm guessing the 650mL is too tall to nest in that 900mL?? Did you try that combo?

what size of ranger band did you use for your 900ml titanium pot? I just bought the 1100ml toaks and I want to make sure that I get the right size of band?

Love this setup. Great videos. Help! I can't find anyone who sells the original 900 ml pot. Will the new 900 ml "Ultralight" work? Do you like the style of the handles? Or would the 1100 pot be better?

Since the 106mm bowls are discontinued, what do you recommend as a substitute for the Toaks 106mm bowl?

Nice, I would stick the bic in the gsi pot grabber so it would ho under the canister. I am running at 13.2 oz with the gsi halulite minimalist. 4 oz fuel, mini bic, pot grabber, silicone sleeve, msr pocket rocket, spork, lid, 2 x 2 scotchbrite. 3 cups total, 24 fluid oz.

Ha ha, you said bass ackward, like my dad used to. And pretty slick kit, I wish I bought the Toaks 550 ml instead of the 750, then I could have added the 900 and have the same kit.
