The UFO Movie THEY Don't Want You to See: A Conversation with Brian Dunning

In my latest video conversation, I talked with Brian Dunning, the producer and host of the popular long-running Skeptoid podcast, about his just released documentary concerning UFOs … the one THEY don’t want you to see. Brian has three previous documentary films under his belt: Here Be Dragons, Principles of Curiosity, and Science Friction. The most recent of these was screened following a previous CSICon, and I interviewed Brian about it in advance here.
So, who exactly are THEY, and why don’t THEY want you to see his latest film? You may also wonder why Brian is still using the older initialism UFO in his title instead of the NASA-approved replacement, UAP. Well, you’ll have to watch the interview to learn the answers to these and other burning questions.
Besides discussing many details of The UFO Movie, including Brian’s methodological approach to this subject and the handful of “UFO encounters” examined in the film, we also talked about many UFO topics not covered in the documentary. These include whether Brian was ever a true believer in the UFO mythos (yes, he was), and what he thinks of all the fresh UFO developments that surfaced only after he wrapped production on the film. “What fresh developments?” you may ask. Well, to name just a few: the U.S. congressional subcommittee hearings featuring NAVY pilots and “whistleblower” David Grusch, the release of the long awaited NASA investigative report, the testimony about ET mummies to the Congress of Mexico, and the revelation just this week that King Charles piloted a UFO in Canada (when he was still just Prince Charles, of course.
Also, as I did in my interview article Let’s Talk UFOs: A Conversation with Richard Saunders, I asked for an expert opinion of celebrity theoretical-physicist Michio Kaku’s claim that “In the old days, the burden of proof was on the true believers to prove that what they saw last night was a flying saucer of some sort. Now the burden of proof has shifted. Now … the military has to prove that these aren’t extraterrestrial objects.”
Being a fan of Project Hail Mary, I couldn’t resist getting Brian into a short conversation regarding the huge technological difficulties portrayed in that 2021 novel (soon to be a major motion picture) regarding interstellar travel as they relate to the section of his film concerning the physics problems of hypothetical extraterrestrials being able to reach Earth.
Let me tell you that THEY may not want you to see The UFO Movie, but Brian is doing his best to defeat THEM and bring his film to popular streaming services. If you can’t wait for him to break through the distribution roadblocks-or you just fancy watching it with a big group of skeptics and are attending CSICon 2023 (or even just live in the Vegas area)-you are in luck. Brian will be hosting a free screening of the film immediately following the conference, and you can register to attend this event right here!
So please enjoy my conversation with Brian Dunning about The UFO Movie THEY Don’t Want You to See, and I hope to meet you at the Vegas screening where I will be wondering if any Reptilian Shape Shifters have infiltrated the screening to report back to their Planetary Ruling Council regarding what secrets Brian has discovered and revealed to the world.

Although much in this film is uncontroversial and correct, it also contains fact errors and key parts that are fundamentally misleading. This will only add another layer of mist instead of contributing constructively to the UFO-debate. Here are a few examples of mistakes in the film: 1. the host incorrectly states that the object in the Gimbal video is at an unknown distance since no radar data exist. - Well listen to the Gimbal video yourself and hear when they refer to the AESA, the video is available on the internet. An AESA is a type of radar and the Gimbal object, together with the accompanying objects, were clearly visible there. The films conclusion that this is an object in the distance is therefore also wrong. 2. It is stated and shown with graphics that the camera shooting the Gimbal video has to rotate at certain locations. - Well if the camera rotated in the Gimbal video, then everything would rotate, not just the Gimbal object but also the clouds behind the Gimbal object. However, this is not the case so this part of the film is clearly misleading. 3. It is stated that scientists don’t believe that aliens can ever get here because of the enormous distances between us and them. - Any serious scientist who thinks this through will quickly realize that since we currently don’t have the knowledge of how the universe works, we can’t possibly know whether it will be possible in the future to travel vast distances by exotic means we are not familiar with today. Humanity doesn’t even know what gravity is, we don’t know how many dimensions there are, to just mention two things that could alter everything. Yes, the speed of light might not change, but that is not relevant if you use a means of transportation that doesn’t depend on it, like a wormhole for example. So it is clearly misleading and untrue to say that scientist don’t believe that aliens will ever be able to visit us. 4. It is stated that UFO:s only exist in the ”low information zone”. - The film completely ignores the fact that the recent uptick in UFO interest in the last few years is very closely related to military witnesses that claim that there is hard and clear technical classified evidence that back their claims up!! Whether these pieces of hard technical evidence actually exist can certainly be questioned since they are not publicly available. But the point here is that there is a good possibility that they do exist and this renders the statement that UFO:s only exist in the ”low information zone” misleading.

Love that aliens are very likely to have existed and could well exist now, but unfortunately in the distant universe. Didn't hear it mentioned here, but the whole August 15, 1977 'Wow Signal' is fascinating too.

Without taking relativity into account, at one G it would take 353.7 days to get the speed of light. So quite a while actually. Not just a few days as Brian said.

I understand the distance argument, but if Ben Rich of Skunk works is right that there's a problem with the math,it would change the argument. As crazy as Jask Sarfatti seems, his math may be right. If Donald Hoffmans' work is correct, well, we will need to rethink everything! And so on. My point is that nothing has been agreed on as settled, not even the distances problem.

Brian Greene seems to think there is an accessible backdoor to 'Brane higher dimensions' of zero time, reachable through String Theory. He proposes near instant communication with another party on the other side of the universe. Sounds a lot like science fiction, until a product can be produced. This concept alone should keep String Theorist in occupations for centuries while they work it out.
