@@vincentquirk2163 If Izzy/Chimaev won fair and square I'm fine but like if DDP had 2 months to go into the fight with Izzy injured u can't tell me that's not rigged so Izzy could beat what for him is a difficult style matchup

Strickland and aspinall did well coming off the couch, Bryce Mitchell should have declined because he's the smallest ranked featherweight and decided to challenge the hardest hitting double gyno having white orc from lotr (Josh emmet) volk should've declined as well he literally just had a kid and was a doughy 155 so he got tkod

Volk has no execuses he got KOd in the first he didnt get gassed he just got beat full camp would have been the same outcome.

Its nice when a card or fight gets saved BUT when it starts happening more and more often they gotta look into this. Plus kinda like whats happening to Double Champ status, its getting old real fast, so the excuse "it was short notice" won't mean anything if this keeps happening.

I feel like there's more winning short notice fighters than losers.

Yeah I used to think the main problem w/ taking short notice fights was the fact that fighters Physicality wouldn't be in tip top shape and I'm sure if a fight gets into the later rounds that problem would arise but from hearing from Volk and Bryce post fight, they both said the exact same thing! They both said they couldn't "pull the trigger". Obviously the lack of preparation puts a lot of doubt in a fighters head, making them overly hesitant and they end up like sitting ducks just waiting to be KO'd like in Volk and Bryce's case!!

The only thing about short notice fights is the physicality, the mental gymnastics behind the he couldnt pull the trigger is stupid argument. The he couldnt pull the trigger is a fighters admission he got outskilled. Short notice fights is only valid execuse for he gassed in 4th or 5th, the preparation aspect of it is a same burden on both fighters. The fighter who had the full camp getting another opponent now has to completely shift his gameplan thats possibly even worse for him than the one taking the short notice fight. In Makhachevs case, he was preping for BJJ threat of Oliviera and wasnt focusing on kicks. Now when he got Volk as replacement he had to switch that to wrestling preparation as Volk was originally hard to take down due to being shorter, and he had to switch to kicks because he knew that was Volks weakness.

@@tarci2994 that's completely fair, you see a lot of fighters who refuse to give credit to their opponent when they lose because they "fought injured" If the injury is that bad then just pull out, don't discredit your opponent!!

Or better yet fighters need to stop accepting short notice fights... You can tell they do it because they need money

That ain't happening anytime soon..as long as Uncle Dana is in charge, and fighters pull out last minute, there's short notice. Plus, look at the Micheal.Bisbing and all the others who win on short notice.

I agree and when dudes are number 1 conteneder they need to wait for the title shot and not get wrapped up in fighting for their number 1 spot or fighting for interim titles

you are a casual, short notice fights are important for up and coming fighters and other circumstances, plus it's bad for the organization to cancel fights.

The issue is no one gave a shit about volkanovski after he lost no one cared and the narrative wasn't that he took it on short notice it was that Islam is just better and would've dominated him no matter what despite what happened in their first fight So volk literally gained nothing but damage and loss of stock from this

There was no narrative fact is it would have been the same outcome considering the fight ended in 3 mins. A short notice execuse is only valid for the gas tank, but every fighter can fight 2-3 rounds of the couch let alone 1 especially a fighter like Volk.

I am not a fan of short notice fights either. Immediately after I heard Volk steps in on short notice I was super bummed. Such a great matchup under such sh!tty conditions. As a fan I want both to be at their best condition so we can see a competetive and exciting fight no matter who wins. Now what did we have in Volk vs Makhachev 2? Super one sided sh!t show. Fuq this short notice bs. The other guy with a full camp def has a huge advantage

Volk vs Makhachev 2 isnt an example of short notice gone bad, as Volk got KOd in 3 mins there is nothing a full camp Volk could change the outcome as it wasnt based on Volk gassing out.
