All is one, one is all. Truly. Think of it: there is no barrier between my body, the air around it, and your body, the space around this planet, star, galaxy. All is one.

This is probably the most inspiring clip from his talks. I love his sense of wonder. I too have that sense and I think it is not just almost spiritual but that intense wonder is spiritual as is the whole shebang of this Universe and what I believe to be self aware as is our Planet that we call Earth, Terra or Home. As Life developed into more complex forms something happens that is wonderful. There is a gradual rise knowingness, self-awareness and then even more wonderful characteristics happen like love, playfulness, caring, wonder, compassion, friendships, bonds, amazing kinds of behaviors quite outside what one would expect from our animal relatives. Then there is us, evolving some how backwards or at least stuck in some kind of pattern of madness with our wars, and bickering, greed and well you know the news as much as I. Am I discouraged? No, I am not, I have great hope even for us as stubborn and selfish as we can be, there is enough of us waking up to what we were meant to be to give rise to hope. I have faith that somehow we will learn, if not from each other or our spiritual sensitivities then our animal neighbors who seen to get it and harmonize quite well with the biosphere and tend not to destroy it. Yes, there is give and take and drama even there, death life and birth all around but there is something else, the urge. The urge to be something more, the urge that pushed those gases into stars and planets and finally life, some goo perhaps of animo acids but life in it's humble beginnings that eventually moved from one levels to a more complex level to another and so on and so on. Some were improvements others dead ends, but it was that urge, urge, urge. That is the basis of all sex and reproduction and lust. It's part of us, it's is what the whole universe is doing in a way. I am really glad and in awe to be a part of the whole marvelous unfolding tapestry of life, elements and chemical reactions and somewhere in there is spirit. Now where did that come from from and intelligence and that knowingness that at some point took hold in some of the life that emerged along the way? I kind of smile to think of the where and how and what. It doesn't' matter. It's just so beautiful enough to maybe - just maybe, wake us up as a species before we end this evolutionary experiment that we are a part of. If we do, well, no big loss, it has happened before, big extinctions and the Earth figured out how to heal and repopulate with all kinds of amazing life. The Earth is aware, we are a part of that awareness. We are a part of that grand chain of life and interconnected relationships. We are in essence, ONE. One with all , everything, daunting isn't it? With that good night all my relatives.

Think about the stuff we've discovered in the last 100 years alone. Imagine what we could learn if we'd spend the same amount of money we spend on going to war with each other on science.

He says this, but if life were so inevitable then we’d expect to see life itself forming all the time, but we don’t. As far as all the evidence points life has ever formed one single time, ever in earth’s history - and we’re not even sure that happened on earth.

Clearly you're not so "supreme" in your reading, because if you had read some damn books before uttering your opinion, you'd know that life could not form in our atmosphere, which is there because of life. That's why you don't see abiogenesis happening all the time. The sun's rays were likely a necessary energy source in the formation of life. Then when life began, it altered the atmosphere, creating a protective layer for itself, because whilst the sun's rays are good for getting life started, they aren't good for keeping it going (without some filtering, that is). It is evolutionary beneficial to alter your environment, not just your own structure.

Joshua Boulton Well, you’re actually right. I haven’t read about how life cannot get started in our atmosphere. Maybe you can point me towards some kind of reading.

@@supremereader7614 I like that attitude. I apologize for my tone earlier. Paul Murdin's "Are We Being Watched?" is a fantastic book about Astrobiology I think you'll enjoy. There's also a playlist on my channel about evolution you may find helpful.
