Great gifts! Let's do an entire series dedicated to Wordsworth, beginning with the preamble essay to Leaves of Grass: " America does not repel the past or what it has produced under its forms or amid other politics or the idea of castes or the old religions... Accepts the lessons with calmness... Is not so impatient as has been supposed that the slough still sticks to opinions and manners and literature all the life which served its requirements has passed into the new life of the new forms... Perceives that the corpse is slowly borne from the eating and sleeping rooms of the house... Perceives that it waits a little while in the door... That it was fittest for its days... That it's action has descended to the stalwart and well-shaped heir who approaches... And that he shall be fittest for his days." etc etc etc. #WhatWeNeedWordsworth #ALandOfManySupremes

2022 is the Year of the Tiger. The words of William Blake's poem are Mystical. And the Voice Actor Tom O'Bedlam, who tell the poem is Legendary. All the Wisdom, The Beauty, The Legend, The Mystery are expressed by the Voice.
First time I hear this poem. I knew the title, and I knew of William Blake. But listening to it leaves me in awe of the depth of William Blake's spirit. Magnificent, powerful and respectful.

I don't know which one I like more, the narrator or the poem? His voice is just so calming.
This great and timeless truth is eternal. And yet we have to learn it, over and over again. Each of us. In our own time. This is the cycle, the rhythm, the pulse of the ages. Ages in which we learn it faster are called golden ones, and ages in which we fail to learn it all are called dark ones. That, my friends, is who we are. We are pilgrims on the same road. Towards this knowledge, this experience, which is called grace, which is called enlightenment. Which is just called being a decent human being. What have we learned from this pandemic? What should we have learned? We are walking beside each other, from the desert to the shore. That is all we have ever been doing. And unless we let the stars guide us, we will walk in circles, never finding our way home.

We fell asleep in one world, and woke up in another. Suddenly Disney is out of magic. Paris is no longer romantic. New York doesn’t stand up anymore. The Chinese wall is no longer a fortress, and Mecca is empty. Hugs and kisses suddenly become weapons, and not visiting parents and friends becomes an act of love. Suddenly you realise that power, beauty and money are worthless and can’t supply the oxygen you’re fighting for. The world continues its life and it is beautiful. It has only put humans in cages and it’s sending us a message: “You are not necessary. The air, water, earth and sky without you are fine. When you come back, remember that you are my guests, not my masters.” Unknown author.

Oh how wrong the last paragraphs truly are. It is for mankind that the world and all that is in it exists. God is master of the workings of his own hands and has given these works to us as a gift; one of many countless and yet not even the greatest of our gifts. No, the world is wasted without the man upon it for it would fail in its purpose were we not here upon it. “To bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.” That is God’s mission for us his children, that is why the earth was made, that is why we are here; “For we shall prove them herewith to see if they shall do all that they are commanded.” These things are true. If you do not know of yourself if these things are true then pray and ask God and he shall manifest these things as true, for God cannot lie.

/by far the most favourite poem of my dad, who passed some years ago. I daresay he recited this poem as well as Tom did. He left his children with an enduring love for poetry . One small edit. -the original has ' what dread hand forged thy dread feet '
From his collection of "Songs of Innocence and of Experience" where he deals with the innocence of a child from its birth and how the society kills that innocent look of that child slowly for their own selfish means. The collection reveals all kinds of societal stages.. Starting from the Anarchy to the poor ones. Also criticising the king of then and his governance. A beautiful collection afterall..

I being a student of Literature, have learnt to compare this poem word-by-word with "The Lamb" by the same poet from the book- Songs of Innocence. The Tyger is from Songs of Experience. Read both the poems and compare the symbols and messages. Trust me, your life won't be the same after doing so. You will actually learn the real truth of life.
Simply beautiful. The music, the voice, the words . . . brings me to tears. A magnificent poem about a magnificent animal.

That's right, Sweetie; let's have a bubbly giggle and laugh about how we rolled cotton clouds across a raspberry sky; licked a lolly sun and learned to fly among marshmallow birds in soda-pop rain and picked bubblegum flowers on a chocolate plain.
