@@elithompson4167 Freedom of speech applies to a lot of things but certain things can harm the morale of people etc. When you speak to a Prime Minister, you could literally affect an entire nation with just a few words that could turn ugly. Some Prime Ministers even have had to intentionally hide things during interviews because they simply couldn't be allowed into the public view. Essentially what we are saying is that the reason it is controlled is to avoid adverse effects.

It's hard to get a real, genuine response from these politicians because they know that every word they say will be used as a sound byte if it's even remotely controversial. Trudeau is one of the good ones, he actually breaks the act a few times and is genuine with Hasan, even if his decisions are not quite in line with his act I still give him respect for actually engaging with Hasan and trying to answer his questions without setting fire to his agenda or his party. Whether or not his agenda is 100% in line with what we believe to be best is a different story, but at least he sticks to his guns unlike the Cheeto Mussolini we have in the Oval.

Climate change isnt real... just propaganda to distract you from what the real issues are... like china, forced labour camps, communism, automation of jobs replacing people and corporate oligarchs monopolizing while small businesses and regular people suffer. You need to wake up to the real immediate issues, not climate change. And fossil fuels will run out far before they ever make parts of the world inhabitable

But how does that improve the situation? I'm voting Green in this election and I know that Trudeau will most likely win again with a Green-NDP-Liberal coalition, so I want to think this is somehow a good thing, but I don't understand how it is. Just an FYI: we do indeed produce far less CO2 than the USA does, but we are one of the top five polluters per capita, which is just appalling. We are spoiled by all our land and resources.

One of the things I love about this show is Hasan's interviews. He's a great interviewer that doesn't hold back and manages to ask difficult questions directly and respectfully. That's one of the things I lament the most about the loss of this show, I'd love to seem him get even better at it and talk to even more people.

As someone who wants to become a journalist, this dude who's a comedian did a better job then most journalists would ever do.

As a Canadian I gotta thank Hasan for asking JT the exact questions I've wanted to. I look up to Trudeau a lot and I still believe that he can be the progressive icon everyone thinks he is. Also it's nice seeing someone make Justin laugh, he acts too stiff all the time.

The conservatives are worse (see my above list or google it yourself), but don't forget there is another option to Trudeau and the Liberals and that's the NDP. The media never talks about them but if you want what Trudeau promised to do and never did. The NDP is your party. The Liberals are corporate democrats, they believe you can be fiscally conservative and socially progressive. But you can't, those two things are contradictory.

This aged like fine wine.

The fact that Trudeau didn't end the interview speaks volumes of his leadership style. And Hasan gave hard questions here. Kudos.

@@kunalmodha4699 I'm not sure it is even John Oliver's to start with, but he has said it on his show over the years and during his years at Jon Stewart's show , they worked together so it's one of those things that you pick up by association . It could be anyone's in that group , Colbert,Stewart, Oliver, carrell, etc , there was a lot of talent in those offices where Hassan grew up .

climate change is #1 when i'm tryna vote - i have been an adult for two elections (both times Trudeau was the liberal party leader), he was never a good option in my opinion. Hasan really nails the issue here - the liberals say a lot of stuff you want to hear, but if you really dive into actual numbers and policies, its obvious they don't care about the climate. Only NDP and Green have provided climate plans that seem okay. And yeah its kinda cool that Canada has painted a nice image for itself in terms of its treatment of minorities - unfortunately this is not true either. Our indigenous people are subject to more discrimination than black people in america (there are incarceration/ unemployment etc. stats for ppl belonging to these groups that prove this). Indigenous women are murdered at a rate so high that some are defining this as genocide. IDK what the fuck that religious symbols ban was. Quebec is different. And I say this with a lot of love for Quebec but that ban is ridiculous. But you know what else is ridiculous? How low their carbon emission is. Yay Quebec! and finally, the denim on denim look is called a Canadian tuxedo and actually it can look quite cool - think Frank Gallagher. Sometimes it doesn't look cool, though. I'll admit it. I have eyes.

Quebec ban have a part with history cause the Catholic Church was basically running Quebec until the 1960. Than Quebec became a laic government and a lot of people rejected the Catholic Church. I live in quebec, I don't really agree with that law but I can see where that feeling is coming from our current pm is from that time. The humor is there for the plucking, now it's up to the writers, Hasan included, to massage it for maximum effect. But taking sides leaves you open to valid criticism. By NOT doing so, you still get the criticism, but any independent assessment shows it to be without merit. Just because I want MY "side" to win does not automatically means it is best for the universe. Or even for me... Peace... (it won't happen, but a nice thought.. At least - peace between us, Luqman..)

PoC have been saying he isn't all that for years, but it takes blackface photos from 20 years ago to wake them up. A contract has clauses, the original Canada-Saudi arms deal had spelt out that the weapons will be used for peacekeeping activities and will NOT be used in any terrorist causes - yet Saudi continues to bomb Yemen and destabilize the region. If Trudeau really wanted to stop the deal, he could have applied more pressure & ensured that the weapons are not used for random acts of terror or war. In fact, several of his own ministers are against this. You are oversimplifying the entire thing by making it out to be a question of contracts - as if that has ever stopped any international relation from falling through. Remember the Iran deal? That was also a contract that was torn to shreds...

We can't really expect any country to give up their own oil reserve. We're still not there. The world is still dependent on oil for their energy requirements. Giving up own oil resource is equal to giving up a certain % of your GDP. We can't blame him for that. Still, if your actions effect environment at one part, you can always make improvements around it or somewhere else in so many other ways. They really should've made a plan to use some part of the profits on environment conservation especially since they're lagging so much on the Paris accords
