Yes you most definitely can put longtubes on the heads before installation. This is what I do for all the Hemis with longtubes I do. Way easier that way

If you take a pointed punch you can stake the spacer plate right where it touches the dowel pins and it will grab onto them and only come off if you pry it off. This is the method I use when I have an engine with these plates to install. I've seen multiple times the pushrods not sitting in the lifter cup myself. It's so common on the hemi. If they torqued down the rocker rail check that they didn't bend the pushrod.

I found if I fold a piece of cardboard in half and put it between rocker and valve stem and ease the bolts down just until the cardboard is almost stuck. It really helps keep the push rods in the cup and limits them from popping out. After I get the tubes tightened down I slide a 1inch round mirror down and look up at the rod in the cup.

I think you should have mentioned when installing the rocker shafts, the special orientation of the shafts. If the shaft assemblies have ever been disassembled, you need to reassemble in a specific way and install with oiling holes in particular orientation, or SEVERE damage can be done to the rockers/shafts, and in some cases, if it goes on long enough, it will destroy oil pump and bearings, crank, etc, etc. I had a 340 6bbl engine that was damaged like that by a MOPAR tech doing warranty work on my engine back in 1970/71.

Long tubes can go on with heads. Done it quite a few times. Also, you can have pushrods not seated in the cup of the rocker and not have them fall out. I had one that would run super rough. Took the valve cover off and the pushrod was on the structural webbing of the rocker. Somehow it would not fall out

Any time you can take 2 steps forward even if one back, you're on the road to success. Those HD couplers are awesome, I had never seen them before. You'll get the belt issue figured out nd then the tune is where the real difficulty is. Hope you can find someone to tune it - you may want to go to your local dyno and see if they have any recommendations for "wild build" tuners out there. Because you are definitely going to want to have it tuned on a dyno so you can dial in the entire table (Not just WOT).

So glad you are feeling better (also for the content). Great job at getting it running again. Can't wait to see it drive again. My wife and I both chuckled a little at the 20:00 mark when you say "I'm stalling". I remember when I did the cam & lifters on my '10 RAM, when I was ready to start it, I did the same thing! My wife and son both said, "you got this, you've checked everything, you're good and it's going to run". I know exactly how you felt and the nervousness you had. Now you know it runs, just get a tuning guy, I know you'll find one, and you will have plenty of time to break it in before the next Redwood Rally!

It has a stock temp thermostat correct? I'd definitely put in a Milodon or Mr Gasket 160 thermostat (not a Motorad, those fail) and adjust the fan settings down so it runs at 170-180F. Should help IAT with that intake/blower setup keeping everything cooler to ward off detonation. Also some much colder plugs, again to help with detonation. Maybe a larger pulley on the blower for less heat, and make up for it with more boost from the turbo since you have a big intercooler. Then a good conservative tune haha.

Love the Hemi Orange gloves. How are you getting oil pressure on your scantool? I have a wk jeep with a 345 (pre eagle). It only appears to sense the presence of oil pressure. I hope I'm wrong. Id love to have oil pressure on my torque dash. Also why do techs ignore de-flood mode? Foot flat to the floor invokes this mode and doesn't supply fuel or spark. I do this regularly to preoil. Probably not the best idea as a shop tech given all the different ages vehicles you all see. But is there a reason other than that? Also where does the "Warning, icing conditions ahead" woman live? I tore out the stereo and GPS and replaced it with an inexpensive android. And the other day she did it again, 100° in the shade. I think she is mocking me. Maybe this is generated by the Body or Tranny module?

Because it’s a diy turbo kit and diy supercharger on a hemi. I’m a tuner out in va and we would never want to be held liable for all of THAT. Also it would be a headache trying to figure out all those parameters. Fuel, air, stall range. Throttle response in accordance to air to fuel measures. It’s way more. He’ll be looking at a $3000 for a dyno tune With no warranty unless he finds a crackhead to do it for $1200.
