I was about the age of Will Robinson when Lost In Space came out. The show became pretty corny after season 1, but season 1 was pretty good. Irwin Allen's shows all had the same kind of formula. I stayed loyal to Lost In Space when Batman came out. The Robot was always cool, and Angela Cartwright grew into a very beautiful woman that I had a crush on.

I think it's well established that most movie critics have always been clueless. Same with music critics. Most of them have precious little understanding of the art, so they just present their personal views in lieu of objective, informed appraisal.

When I was a kid it was magic. Now grown up I love it for all the gags and all the corny stuff, funny and clever😀

My own critique. As a ten year old boy when this show came out I could not help comparing it to Star Trek which made it seem silly and rather campy. However, compared to most of what was on TV at the time it was nevertheless a lot of fun to watch. So I was a regular viewer. The fascinating thing was that the prevailing wisdom had events like what happened in the show occurring just 30 years into the future. I think that no one today imagines our current 30 year future quite so advanced.

The black and white first season episodes were good but seasons 2 and 3 were silly and campy.

Wow, is it any wonder why critics are loathed…as we say in Oz, “They’re as useless as tits on a bull!!!” Anyway, I love the show and still watch it now…I love it and will always watch it.

Lost in Space was many things but never "overly complicated". He pretty much got it all wrong in his comments. That's why I ignore critics. Let them create a show and I'll bet it will be really awful.
