Where are all the others who walked through the tunnel? Did they each end up in their own pocket dimension? Or did the tunnel just decide to screw this guy in particular ?
Oh no, the poor fellow! Will he die of thirst in the tunnel, or will he also be stuck in a time warp, wandering between the exits for eternity, going insane? Or does the tunnel release him after a year, but a hundred years have passed outside? Is it comparable to the diabolical loop in my hallway that leads me to the leftovers in the fridge at night when I actually wanted to go to the bathroom? Thanks for the nightmarish video!

Sometimes the simplest things can be most terrifying.
“The Tunnel" is a 1952 short story by Friedrich Dürrenmatt, one of the best “existential” rendering I’ve ever found - (and I’ve looked!). A tunnel is such a useful metaphor in the hands of a great author, similarly hallways with endless doors opening on more hallways as Sartre’s “No Exit”

Absolutely legendary. The perfect example of what horror should be and what big cinema fails to make it. And that soundtrack... the synthwave adds so much to it too. And the framing of the shots. And that empty tunnel shot at 3:26. It's all just so well made.
@magnus1001

Exactly. The big money movie makers think blood, gore and jump-scare are the only kind of horror. This is much scarier and more relatable.
@HeroDestrin
Жыл бұрын
@@magnus1001 Yeah, it's rather unfortunate. And I can understand a well-placed jump scare (I'm thinking about the one and only jump scare in Jaws, which didn't even involve the shark), but when movies overdo it - which most horror movies nowadays do - it becomes cheap and not even scary anymore. I can also understand some gore in horror movies (Jaws is yet another good example), but when movies have constant gore that repeatedly pushes the limits, it becomes distasteful and also feels cheap.
So great! The end is actually a bit sad, his boyfriend can hear him, but thinks it's just in his head. Well done!

This is a good example on how to make a horror film, whether it be full length or short. You don't use jumpscares, you use atmosphere for the setting and let the creeps vibe in to do the scare on the audience

Very well done. As a writer, I wish I had thought of this one myself! The tunnel could also represent the future for this man who might be subconsciously insecure about meeting the parents of his bf and as such he can't get out of this tunnel. He is "stuck," frightened of moving onward with a relationship-.

When I was a senior in high school someone stole my story that had been published in our school magazine ( I was a junior when it was published).Then, when I was a senior, our English teacher asked us to submit a short story for class. Well, some idiot contributed MY STORY and the only way I could convince the teacher it was MINE was by showing her a copy of the school magazine Pegasus where my story was published in one year ago. I've watched enough Star Trek to know a spatial anomaly when I see one. You have to walk backwards🤣

If it was me, I'd just keep moving in one direction, it could be a spatial anomaly, where distance inside the tunnel is longer than it appears on the outside. It's also possible he resets a littlecloser to the end than he realizes. Anythings better than running back and forth, possibly leaving you in the same spot.
I want justice for him
There was another movie with the same scenario and concept. But it was about a girl who lost her boyfriend in a tunnel like that. He was unable to come out, she was unable to find him in.

That looks like a revamped version of the tunnel in the movie Absentia.
Very well done! Keeps the tension...Maybe he should try to make a hole in the roof of the tunnel? That´s creepy, omg.....
duct tape, on a tree is exactly how i would describe this movie.
Does anyone else sometimes have that exact same feeling when looking forward while walking and your position doesn't seem to change at all? Happens to me on certain nature paths with repeating patterns of the same texture on the side so my brain feels like I don't move even tho I do
Well done!
The tunnel seems to be a metaphor for his indecision in ending a relationship.
Gripping... What a treat... Amazing
It reminded me a lot of Isaac Ezban movies. The incident, in particular. With the Backrooms and as in the short story The Tunnel by Friedrich Dürrenmatt and in Sartre's work, quoted by the friend below, we have an infinity of options and variables on the theme. Very interesting.

I worked in a prison in the nineties in Hungary. There was a tunnel between the two units. Sometimes, when I was very tired, I had exactly the same feeling. I'll never get out. There were over two thousand people in the prison, with about five hundred guards, but when I went through the tunnel it was somehow always empty. I was alone with my thoughts. The tunnel amplified them. And of course there were the thoughts of the prisoners. I carried their letters and applications in a basket. Sometimes these documents would come to life.
What an excellent use of SOUND!
