THE TRY GUYS ARE OVER…

Ойын-сауық

The Try Guys are launching their own streaming service called 2nd Try TV and even though it's giving some people Watcher Flashbacks, it seems like the announcement is going over much better for them...

With Eugene attending the Oscars this year, it was a clear sign that his career was taking off in a different direction than Zach and Keith's. Honestly, I'm happy for all of them but it's the inevitable end of an era.

For me, there's a big difference between watcher and the try guys. The try guys clearly are trying to do what their fans want without catering to the algorithm. Watcher felt like a cash grab and not a genuine transition. I'm happy for the try guys. This is an expansion that will help them grow

  • @Robinv0224

    @Robinv0224

    Ай бұрын

True. And the tryguys have only ever wanted to do their audience right. Considering the tryguys have been on their own for 8 years now it feels like they are more in-tuned with their audience. I do think the watcher situation helped tryguys do it a better way but I think since they know how much their audience has grown up over the years there is a larger amount of adults watching tryguys than watcher. Aka they know a lot of us have our own money. Watcher is technically newer than tryguys. As silly as the tryguys are, they seem to be geared towards an older audience now. The watcher guys don’t really seem to be connected to their audience in ways the tryguys are. Plus the tryguys all have their own companies that support their own incomes. Watcher is just watcher. Also the fact that tryguys give you a free 3 day trial helped too.

Keith and Zach went into a lot more details on their podcast. They covered a lot of business side and shared how they consulted with Mythical, Smosh, and Dropout to figure out how to balance the algorithm with creating content. They explained further what they meant by uncensored. Sorry folks, no uncensored Zach accidental dick reveal video, but they will have a lot more freedom with regards to language and content. Apparently they had a video demonetized for the word "butthole". What they said regarding Eugene's departure showed the decision came from love. Both didn't want Eugene to keep putting off his dream projects to prioritize the Try Guys. Another big thing is they understand that many people are overwhelmed with the bazillion streaming services this is where it's really clear they talked with Sam Reich because like Dropout, they're also offering the paid streaming content through KZread subscription. Dropout learned that based upon country some people can't access their app and for others the exchange rate/taxes makes a KZread subscription actually cheaper than a separate app. The Try Guys really could have a side business consulting with KZreadrs because they really handled this well.

I hate the new algorithms, on every platform they're getting dumber and more catered to children who make them a lot more money. I think at this point we should have a designated youtube for people over 13-15 years old and ones for the younger generation. That way the platform wouldn't turn into a cesspool of rainbow, fast paste, scripted videos and the creators working hard on their content will be able to reach the audiences they make it for.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. The problem is, KZread Kids is already a thing. And yet youtube is still letting this happen because they only care about the money. And also, unless the child’s KZread is being monitored, it’s very easy for children to lie about their age just to watch something/use KZread.

The try guys may have had the same thing planned as Watcher, we’ll never know because they had the chance to watch Watchers announcement and the fall out after it. They potentially even changed their price, and added the free trial after Watchers announcement. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a bit of a race for Watcher to announce since I’m sure they all knew each other’s plans and also have an overlap with some viewers. First to announce would get people to sign up and some only having money to support one KZread group, would spend it on who announced first. Will be interesting to see where they’re both at in a year when everything is back to full price.

I understand the move to a streaming platform (Collegehumor/Dropout has done very well), but I don’t understand why each of these channels has decided to create their own streaming platform rather than working together to create a larger community platform. Like why not try to get bundled in with something like Dropout but negotiate the contract to have the maximum level of freedom?

My guess is control. Yes, there are advantages (creative and financial) of working together in larger communal platforms, but you pay for that by having to cede control and compromise on a lot of things. I imagine many creators, having spent years beholden to KZread, may value the relative freedom and control of having their own independent platform over anything else.

I get what you mean but also get that KZread is making it so creators can’t make the content they want to. When a company gets to be that big and the production level is this high they can’t afford to have a video demonetized in a way that feels almost random. If you haven’t seen dropout ( what college humor became) you should check them out! The try guys have actually been on it as they have a lot of game shows! They do a great job with their recurring cast and treating creators well IMO.

I felt Eugene pulling away for awhile. I can’t blame the guy for wanting to explore other opportunities. Particularly if his heart isn’t in it. I felt sad. I’ve watched these guys since they were with that one company. I want them to be extremely successful. After thinking of it for awhile I am simply not purchasing many things that don’t have at least 2 functions 😂. I know that seems extreme but money is tight and times are hard. I don’t pay for cable and solely use streaming services I just can’t seem to reconcile buying one streaming service just to watch them. Hopefully my views from YT will still equal support and I do hope others (with disposable income) buy many subscriptions. Good luck to Eugene and the TG group! Change can be hard to adapt to but sometimes end up being for the best! 🤟🏾

I’ve been watching them since the buzzfeed days and watching them grow into who they are now has def been a journey. One that I will continue to follow them on. I think they’re taking all the right steps that they can and I’m so happy for Eugene and that he can fully pursue his passions. 💛💛💛

Yeah I'm not paying for another streaming service. & they're going to slowly migrate entirely to this new platform if it proves to be successful. Miss me with this.

They are becoming a new buzzfeed. Literally every person who leaves does this. They've come full circle

They were doomed the minute Ned left but we supported them as a kind of revenge against Ned…turns out they are not as good when it’s half the cast by now and some random people are trying to replace Eugene and Ned

Yeah, well I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if the quality of content on the KZread channel stays the same or takes a dive…..??? 🧐

They’re basically doing what dropout tv did and I’m so proud of them. Stuff we love stays on KZread for people who won’t subscribe while if you want a lot more content/uncensored stuff you can watch it there. Also officially adding the people we already know and love as cast members just makes sense. And while it is sad Eugene is leaving I’m too proud of him and the guys to be sad. He gets to live his dream and they get to continue living theirs as they should. I’m hoping for nothing but success for all of them!

Idk I kinda hate that people are celebrating them having a whole new cast, but shamed Watcher for adding two new cast members who were on a popular show before Steven left for watcher. People pick and choose these days. They probably had the same concept of Watcher but changed after the fall out

While i do wish i could view ALL of their new content, i can appreciate what theyre doing. They did their best to find a middle ground that worked for them without punishing the people who brought them to where they are now. Im excited to see their new work and hopefully i can afford the service soon so i can see all of the new exciting stuff!

I watched them since buzzfeed times, but haven’t watched their videos for like 3ish years at this point, cause it’s just not enjoyable anymore. They’ve changed a lot and imo not for the better. They seem more fake, over the top and theatrical. Saying that, looks like they still have many fans, who are willing to pay for the subscription. So obviously, they’ll do it as long as they still earn decent money.
