If you don't already I highly recommend watching Johnny Ross' podcast with his co-host Kevin called beautiful and bothered. They are both highly versed in the makeup world, funny and aren't afraid to talk s*it about brands and products. Also Robert was on an episode of the podcast.

I kind of hate that putting out anything negative, immediately gets you removed from a PR list. I remember those headphones everyone advertised for a while got a really ‘meh’ review from a sound expert on their PR list…and he stayed on the PR list - the next ones he got, had a note saying “Sorry you didn’t like the last one. We took your feedback into consideration. See if you like these better.” Honestly, I felt that was SUCH a power move by a company. Being able to take feedback (including negative feedback) makes me far more inclined to buy, than just having tons of influencers rave, so they get more free stuff. Plus, if I know an influencer will be honest, anything they DO give a good review, will be ten times more convincing than the IAMSHOOOOOOK crowd. Bring back(?) honest reviews - but also bring on brands, who can handle it, rather than collect their toys like an offended toddler.

"I'm just a girl" isn't an excuse for being wilfully ignorant and consumerist

If she were really “just curious about makeup,” she could always buy those products in private, try them on her own, and find out whatever it is she’s dying to know. Why bring her viewers into it while simultaneously pretending like she doesn’t have an impressionable audience?

That reply to Robert welsh of her saying “I’m just a girl” and “I’m your Canadian Asian Latina bestie” “I didn’t know you had expectations of me” “I’m a fan” Really feels like she is trying to make him out as a the big bad man attacking his fan who is a woman of colour and minority in her country. It also feels like she is trying to appeal to young woman of colour who hold distain for white men (Robert is Latino with a Mexican mother to my knowlage but is white passing) which is sadly becoming very prevalent in America and Canada. Also bring up that he’s mentioned his own political views feels like her giving a reason for those who may disagree with them to side with her in case this becomes drama. Overall I liked glamzilla before being a fellow Canadian and seeing her support schools in Toronto as well as small Canadian businesses but this has really given me a taste into her much more negative qualities and I don’t believe I will be supporting her any longer.

Ya… what people forget is Mexicans come in every color. Depends on the heritage. Some can look black, other traditional native and some Spanish blood (blue eyes, fair skin, blonde or red hair) Mexico is truly a melting pot. Its the tone-deafness for me and how she completely ignored the comment "youre directly funding them." By funding controversial influencers you are associating with them and supporting them. I very much distanced myself from Robert when he did the review but I also had lunar beauty product at one point (I've since decluttered tho). I love Robert's makeup advice but yeah, I don't follow him anymore too. @@blueeyedscorpio7

For her to disrespect Robert like that is honestly a joke. She obviously still didn't get the point after that interaction with him. The man knows what he's talking about.

Just block these influencers whenever you see something sketchy. they can't "influence" if they are blocked by everyone. I don't understand how some of them still have fans, when they would sell their mama for cash.

“I’m not supporting them” goes and gives them money which DIRECTLY supports them. Hope she thinks a bit harder on this one

Okay people, listen carefully. You cannot rely on influencers opinions for products. Go to your local beauty store and grab a sample. These people get paid to open their front facing camera. Stop trusting them!!!

I’m someone with really hard to match skin. Like, tan cool olive. Right now I look green like someone who has been out to sea during a hurricane 🤢 green. I trust NO ONE😂.

I’m also convinced that the company’s behind all these promotions that are not disclosed are the main contributors to this bad trend. I would not be shocked if information gets leaked showing that company’s are specifically paying people to not disclose that their sponsored

Manny and Laura b!tching is RICHHHH. Those two were some of the biggest sell outs. They took every sponsorship, pushed every product from companies that paid for them to go on lavish trips or parties 😂 They were the literal inventors of the sneaky influencer game. WILD.

This glamzilla girl is like the next gen of that girl 5 years ago on youtube who always says amazing things about Kylie cosmetics just so she will always be on their PR list.

The way she talks is like when the main character is begging the casting directors for the main role even though she fell when walking on-stage and couldn't hit any of the notes.

i saw jeffree reviewing this from glamzilla’s review and was like… ew are we seeing the same thing? the foundation is ugly and minimal coverage and they were acting like it was the best thing ever

I don’t watch influencers and don’t have tik tok. I just bought the Laura mercier foundation , had no idea it went viral and had never heard anything about it. I can tell you that it is really nice. I really like it. It’s buildable and it stays on your face all day. My old foundation would rub off. You should always try things yourself

I feel like at this point if some influencers become blunt and honest about being paid or not they would gain so much more support and loyal followers for being so open. Having trust with your followers will create a brand loyalty that is long-term profit.

The only beauty influencer that I respect is Lisa Elridge. She is beyond a beauty influencer. She is the master of makeup.

Her response shows how simple some of these people truly are and why everything we see should be scrutinized with a fine tooth comb 🪮🤨🧐. Smh 🤦🏽‍♀️.

My thought when I saw the video was that most foundations looks nice when they are first applied, are still wet, and especially with a smooth application like a flat brush. I could make several dry, cakey, badly wearing foundations look amazing if I stopped the video right after swiping it on and then blending it in?? If something did look bad 30 seconds after applying, I dont know how it made it out of product testing 😂

It also bothers me that barely any of these people do wear time tests to prove the longevity of the product. I can name only one person I actually watch that does and she can prove to me that the foundation is as good as she says it is. And you can tell time has passed just by looking at her application and then the time skip. I almost never believe these people's bs, over the top reviews when they can't even show me their face a couple hours later 😂

When they technically speak too much about the product, you know it's sponsored. A typical consumer would just buy, try and react on how the product feels and performs. Why do people give so much power on influencers who most of the time we know are a sell out. They are the modern equivalent of an infomercial trying to push you to call and dial that number now.😅

this just reminded me why i fell out of love with makeup. i have all the products i really need, and i have no desire to try out new ones when it’s impossible to trust reviews. not all of us can afford to find out for ourselves

Totally agree , the fenty looked heavy on her and wasn’t even her shade , it was darker and kinda orange whereas the Laura Mercier’s shade was spot on and looked better 🙂

You can easily achieve that shiny, dewy look with hemp oil. It's cheap and a good moisturiser for people with dry/very dry skin/sensitive skin and those prone to spots.
